June Favorites: Ken’s Man Bun & Washed Out’s ‘Mister Mellow’

June 2017 had some interesting developments.

Can I just say how excited I am for this summer’s new music?! So many amazing singles, EPs, and full length albums have come out already and the summer is less than a month in!

Let’s take a look at my favorites in pop culture and entertainment for June 2017:

Favorite News Articles

1. Ken has a man bun. I’m not a huge fan of man buns but this is really a quite interesting hipster-like look for a doll.

2. Obama wore the same tux for his entire presidency. The things men can get away with.

3. This guy’s business card tho. I’d get hella excited if I’d received anything close to this cool at a networking event.

4. Al Sharpton’s gym selfies. Let the man live.

5. Designer cantaloupe. Walmart, what makes you think anyone would trust this when everyone and their mother wants to buy organic?

Favorite Music

1. Mister Mellow by Washed Out. Can someone book Ernest Greene at Lincoln Center with an accompanying orchestra to perform this album live please? Thanks.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Aria Montgomery in #PLLFinale

Aria Montgomery, Pretty Little Liars Series Finale Episode Til DeAth Do Us PArt

It’s insane to believe we actually spent 7 years dealing with the suspense and torture that was Pretty Little Liars.

Last night, the show came to a close with the 2-hour finale episode “Til DeAth Do Us PArt.” In the beginning of the episode, Aria Montgomery (played by Lucy Hale) is seen wearing a cute yellow mini dress at the Lost Woods along with Ezra, the rest of the Liars, and Toby.

The dress has the cutest little belle sleeves and frills, making it the perfect summer staple. See below for some dresses inspired by the look!

Dress:

1. Shopbop, $537.00

2. REVOLVE, $536.00

3. TB Dress: $34.99

April Favorites: #FyreFraud & Commuter Barbie

Now that all of the “It’s Gonna be May” and “May the 4th be with you” memes are over, it’s time to look back at April for some monthly favorites.

Let’s just say some very peculiar things happened in April 2017…

Shall we?

Favorite News Articles

1. #FyreFraud. Let the disaster that was Fyre Festival be a lesson to all the entrepreneurs of the world.

2. There’s a new Barbie in town, and she rides the NYC subway. I almost want to be 5 again so that I can play with this.

3. Apparently adults in Australia aren’t allowed to go to Legoland. Speaking of wanting to be 5 again…

4. You can now avoid annoying coworkers with a Google Chrome plugin. Beyond awkward moment when you get a phone call while your coworker is telling you the same sob story for the 50th time.

Favorite Music

1. “Saw You in a Dream” by Japanese House. I think she just went and plucked all of my heart strings to oblivion.

February Favorites: Bernie Sandwiches, #ObamaAndKids & Lucy Church

feb 2016 faves

February 2016 brought lots of great comedy, music and TV episodes. I have a feeling this winter is going to end quite well.

I’m looking forward to all the March Madness (minus the basketball because I’m not into sports). I feel quite calm for the first time since this year started, so maybe the March lion won’t swallow me and just go out like a lamb?

Here are my favorites in pop culture for the month of February:

Favorite News Articles

1. I hope this reporter got a laugh out of this Bernie Sandwiches joke he created. Or else, Stephen Colbert is just “Reuben him the wrong way.”

2. #ObamaAndKids. Just the hashtag we needed to remind ourselves how much we’ll miss Obama when he’s gone.

3. Chrissy Teigen accidentally gave out her phone number in her new book. I thought people only put their address on dog collars…

4. Hayley Williams got married to Chad Gilbert! They’re wedding was so chill and cute ❤

Favorite Music

1. Toi Et Moi by Paradis. I swear, if they don’t come to NYC when this new album is released we’re going to have problems.

2. Too Late Now by Anik Khan. I’m not a fan of hip-hop or rap, so this is scaring me. Perhaps it’s the jazzy, samba vibe I’m getting from this?

3. Somebody Else by The 1975. They dug deep into the dark abyss for this song, and I love it.

4. Hide and Seek by Nude ft. JJ. This is probably the sexiest lounge house track I’ve ever heard.

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran at the 2016 Grammys. These two pretty much won cute.

2. Emeraude Toubia in Regard Magazine. She’s freaking gorgeous and I love her in Shadowhunters.

3. Nathan Fillion and his kitty. OMJ kitty kisses.

An old trick to get your cat to kiss you: put a mouse in your mouth.

4. Kickthepj in clown makeup. He looks like a nicer version of the Joker.

Favorite TV Episodes

1. Limitless, “Undercover!” Please tell me this is not the last time we’ll see Lucy Church! I love her femme-fatale sexiness, and I love her with Brian!

2. Lucifer, “Manly Whatnots.” I am so happy Tom Ellis uses his Welsh accent for this show. Rush fans, you need to watch this show!

3. Pretty Little Liars, “Where Somebody Waits for Me.” That Haleb flashback was hard to watch, but it was necessary for us to see in order to move on.

Favorite YouTube Videos

1. “Make Me Like You” music video. Gwen Stefani is back and falling over skates!

2. Rhett and Link try interesting popcorn toppings. I could not stop laughing when Rhett calls Link his baby and then Link says, “I’m not your baby, I’m your popcorn buddy.”

3. “Baby Boy” lyric video. Yuna + Lincoln Jesser is pure music making brilliance. Love the way this lyric video ends.

Happy March!

January Favorites: RIP David Bowie, Leo DiCaprio’s Flinch & Liley Reunited

jan faves

January 2016 was a roller coaster. Between celebrity deaths, award shows, and couples reuniting, I’m amazed I was able to keep up!

My list of news articles was way too long for this favorites post, so I selected the best few to share with you guys. I also had a great time picking music this month, and all of my favorite shows are slowly coming back from their hiatus, which means more episode favorites!

Here are my favorites for the month of January.

Favorite News Articles

1. RIP David Bowie. He and Iman are such a photogenic interracial couple. My heart goes out to her.

2. Leo DiCaprio went viral at the Golden Globes after flinching when Lady Gaga walked by him. Because, look at those side hoop hips, though.

3. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are engaged. Again. And they better stay that way.

4. Emily Blunt is pregnant! Wooohoo! Hazel is getting a sibling to play with!

Favorite Music

1. “All That’s Left” by Manila Killa ft. Joni Fatora. This song can take me “round and round on this carousel” any day.

2. “House on Fire” by Sia. Only Sia can make what would usually seem like something masochistic sound romantic, and I love it.

3. “All I See” by Draper ft. Laura Brehm. Such a cute song right in time for Valentine’s Day.

4. “Home” by St. Lucia. “You can tell them you’re going home.”

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Majestic unicorn goddess iiSuperwomanii (Lilly Singh). Work that beach, girl.

Favorite TV Episodes

1. Pretty Little Liars, “Of Late I Think of Rosewood.” I know it was Ezra and it’s killing me and I don’t know if I can take it.

3. Suits, “Blowback.” Welcome to hell.

Favorite YouTube Videos

1. Bevin’s Haul Heaven. Please bring Bevin and his weird friend back for another episode.

2. Ryan Abe’s poor face. Why would he do such a thing?

3. Josh and Kory find out who knows Colleen Ballinger-Evans better. Spoiler, it’s…oh heck just watch it.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Hanna in #PLL Episode “Charlotte’s Web”

Hanna, PLL Episode Charlotte's Web

On last week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars titled “Charlotte’s Web,” Hanna Marin (played by Ashley Benson) wore this lovely wide-legged floral trouser with a white sleeveless collared linen blouse.

It made me wish we could just fast forward to spring in the Northeast. Regardless, it’s never too early to start putting together a spring wardrobe!

She paired the look with some light gray boots and bright red lipstick. Later on in the episode she was seen wearing a black blazer.

Unfortunately, all of the original items Hanna is wearing in this episode are sold out. Below are some alternatives.

Top:

1. H&M, $17.00

2. ASOS, $27.50

Pants:

3. Saks Off 5th, $39.99

4. Next, £36 ($51.30 USD)

Boots:

5. Gilt, $69.00

6. Lovely Wholesale, $19.99

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Ashley Benson @ the 2015 #AMAs

Ashley Benson 2015 AMAs

For the American Music Awards on Sunday, Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson looked simply stylish in a Max Azria Atelier emerald green pantsuit. I was so taken aback when I saw how casually she was dressed amongst the other women on the red carpet. There’s nothing extravagant about the pantsuit, yet she looks so stunning in it!

For those of you trying to achieve this simple elegance at family dinners and other events this season, below are some pieces similar to what Ashley is wearing. And if you’re like me, you’ll probably need a clutch bag bigger than the one she’s holding—maybe one like item number 8.

Note: Some items below reflect Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale prices.

Blazer:

1. New York & Company, $31.98

2. Forever 21, $24.90

Pants:

3. 6pm.com, $35.99

4. Ted Baker, $143.00

Shoes:

5. Nine West, $49.99

6. Nordstrom, $129.95

Clutch:

7. Perfect Handbags, £16.50 ($24.96 USD)

8. Yves Saint Laurent, $138.00
