Fan Art Fridays: Roselyn Sanchez

image

National Hispanic Heritage Month began today, September 15! To celebrate, I’ll be posting fan art of Hispanic/Latino celebs all month long.

First up is actress Roselyn Sanchez. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

I absolutely loved her as Carmen Luna on Devious Maids. Her character is basically like the one friend you need in your girl group to keep the gossip interesting.

Roselyn Sanchez is expecting a baby soon, and she just released a children’s book earlier this month called Sebi and the Land of Cha Cha Cha.

Enjoy this digital fan art I found of the actress over on Deviant Art by Ghanaian artist luxuryzz (Denzel Oduro).

He captured her smolder so well!

August Favorites: Wee Blind Girl, Adele’s Upcoming Album & “Wildest Dreams” Music Video

August Faves

August 2015 will go down in history as the month of the heart-wrenching cliffhanger season finales.

Between the Suits, Pretty Little Liars, and Devious Maids season finales, I can’t tell who won. Did all the screenwriters of the world band together to plan this?!

Anyway, no podcast for this month (sorry, I was too busy adulting), but here’s a list of my August favorites:

Favorite News Articles

1.  Autocorrect gives a 21-year-old a “Wee Blind Girl” birthday cake. Oops?

2. Adele’s next album is coming soon! GAH so excited! My ears are ready!

3. Snake people. What even…

Favorite Music

1. “I Give It” by Night Beds. I think I’ve listened to this song (and the majority of the other songs on Ivywild) like a million times this month.

2. “Slumlord” by Neon Indian. This song is totally making me want to go see him live when he comes to NYC in October.

3. “Never Be” by Meg Mac. Here ye, here ye, we have found the Australian Adele.

4. “Gimmie Love” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Who would have thought that the sweet innocent “Call Me Maybe” girl would be singing songs like this a few years later?

5. “In The Night” by The Weeknd. I’m really loving his new Micheal Jackson-esque style.

#BloggersBTS Linkup: Favorite Back-to-School Looks on TV

back to school fashion

August is here, and summer is slowly coming to an end. That means it’s time to start making those back-to-school shopping lists!

In addition to buying new school supplies, you might have grown out of your clothing from the last school year, or maybe you just want to add a few new pieces to your wardrobe. Regardless, here are a few outfits I love from my favorite high school and college-aged characters on TV to help you decide what to wear for your first day back!

BTS Linkup Spencer

Spencer Hastings loves to wear dark colored sophisticated pieces. In this scene from Pretty Little Liars, she’s wearing a shirt dress with leggings, paired with a belt and boots (footwear not pictured). This look is perfect for those days when you don’t feel like wearing jeans!

Similar Items:

Shirt Dress: DHgate, $43.30

Belt: Topshop, $48.00

Leggings: Rue21, $9.99

Boots: Sexy Shoes Woman, $79.99

BTS Linkup Tamara

Awkward.‘s Tamara is always bright and bubbly. Just because the summer is over, it doesn’t mean you have to shift to a darker colored wardrobe. Turn heads with bold colored belts and skirts!

Shirt: Bang on the Trend, £4.99 ($7.80 USD)

Skirt: Chic Wish, $39.02

Belt: ShoexGear, $13.99

BTS Linkup Haley

So you don’t want to give up that spaghetti strap floral top just yet. Good news: you don’t have to! Haley Dunphy from Modern Family makes a summer piece transition into fall with a flyaway sweater and a fedora. Add a cute triangle necklace and you’re good to go!

Similar Items:

Fedora: Forever 21, $19.90

BTS Linkup Valentina

You might feel like wearing a dress to school, but how do you pull it off without looking too done-up? Devious maid Valentina Diaz tones her sweater dress down with a cargo jacket, turning a business casual look into sporty chic. Add a pair of boots and some jewelry for a polished look.

Similar Items:

Sweater Dress: Nordstrom, $78.00

Episode Review: ‘Devious Maids’ 1×5 “Taking Out the Trash”

Devious_Maids_logoIt’s been five episodes and I am most definitely hooked!

Last nights episode of Devious Maids titled “Taking Out the Trash” was full of drama. Between hitting people over the head with prosthetic legs and catfights with Remi’s high school ex-girlfriend, I could not help but stare at the screen with my jaw dropped as it all went down.

One of the biggest jaw droppers of this episode is learning that Carmen is married.

Yes, she is still tied to the man who tried to stop her from making her dreams become a reality.

Her husband Oscar finds out where she is working as a maid, and takes a trip out to see her. Sam and Odessa convince her to face him and let him know she doesn’t want to be married anymore.

However, Oscar has other plans, including returning her wedding band and trying to lure her back into his life with a gig at his friend’s restaurant.

Carmen refuses and things get violent. Oscar begins to forcefully grab Carmen and leave the house with her. Sam tries to take him on but gets knocked out and onto the bird cage, accidentally setting Alejandro Rubio’s bird free.

As much as Odessa wants to ruin Carmen’s life, she doesn’t want to give Oscar the pleasure of doing it for her, so she hits him over the head with her prosthetic leg.

That was the best fight I’ve seen in a while!

Other interesting events in this episode:

1. Valentina finds Remi’s high school ex girlfriend in his bed wearing red lingerie. When Remi leaves for an appointment with his college adviser, she gives Valentina a hard time, resulting in a cat fight between the two. (Side note: Pretty Little Liars fans, if you’re wondering where a Jason Dilaurentis went, he’s on Devious Maids! Remi Delatour is played by Drew Van Acker!)

2. When Peri Westmore leaves for work, Spence Westmore decides to swoop Rosie in for a kiss. She tells him no, and when he persists she threatens to hit him over the head with a pan. Peri returns to grab her keys and Rosie keeps her promise, leaving Spence on the floor just as Peri walks into the kitchen. Ooops. Blame it on the waxed floors!

3. Eddie had proposed to Flora a few months before her death. This case isn’t looking up for this kid.

4. Every year, Evelyn and Adrian Powell celebrate their dead son’s birthday. I just find it odd that they go the whole nine yards with a cake, candles AND a gift for him. He’s not alive to eat the cake, blow out the candles or even wear the wonderful cashmere blouse Evelyn got him! A simple memorial would have been fine but this is just too much! I hope they donate those gifts to a nice charity every year.

As with every week, I can never believe the episode is already over when it ends. Can’t wait for next week!
