July Favorites: Celine Dion Memes & Childish Gambino’s ‘Summer Pack’

July 2018 had me all over the place.

It went from jaw dropping celebrity engagements to Demi Lovato’s hospitalization (glad you’re doing alright now, girl!), and I’m seriously beginning to think this is going to be the most emotional summer ever.

I hope the wedding planners of Hollywood are ready for this (looking at you Justin, Hailey, Nick, and Priyanka).

My carpal tunnel has been acting up over the last couple of days so let’s keep this one short and sweet with minimal commentary:

Favorite News Articles

1. My fave of the Celine Dion memes: “Trudeau window, to the wall.”

2. Congrats are in order for the recently engaged couples Hailey Baldwin & Justin Bieber, and Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas!

3. This is what happens when you mess with journalists, Daily News.

Favorite Music

1. I can’t tell which of these two super smooth summery tunes I like best from Childish Gambino’s Summer Pack EP.

2. “Soulmate” by Justin Timberlake is just what I needed this summer.

3. I think I like this Spotify Sessions version of “Bloom” by Troye Sivan more than the original.

January Favorites: Bathroom Wedding & Jonas Brothers Reunion?

January 2018 was rough.

I feel as though a lot of the music that came out in January was very nostalgic, more so than usual. It’s as if everyone is longing to go back to a simpler time. Thankfully we can, just not for longer than the length of your favorite nostalgic tunes (and the stretch of your imagination).

Let’s take a look at some of the things in pop culture and entertainment that made January 2018 a little less rough:

Favorite News Articles

1. A New Jersey couple got married in a bathroom. Because the show wedding must go on.

2. There might be a Jonas Brothers reunion?! Be still my 13-year-old fangirling, beating heart.

3. CVS bans makeup brands from Photoshopping makeup ads. I love it when CVS takes initiative on things like this.

4. The A train is finally getting a revamp. Thank you, MTA, for finally rewarding this tri-borough train with a well deserved new look. I think some other trains are also getting upgraded…

5. RIP Rosie the Riveter. You will be missed, but never forgotten as a symbol for fierce, hard-working women.

Favorite Music

1. “Song for You” by Rhye. I am a new fan. Perfect track for Valentine’s Day this month.

2. “Stay Here” by Henry Green. He always knows how to break me down with those somber melodies, man.

3. “The Good Side” by Troye Sivan. Troye went all folk on us!

4. Cause for Concern, De Lux. Loving the old-school Beetles-esque vibes on this track.

5. “Tension (Interlude)” by BØRNSBlue Madonna as a whole is a great album, but this interlude definitely made it for me.

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Viola Davis getting all done up for Jimmy Kimmel. I love her hair like this so much!

2. Lupita Nyong’o at the Black Panther premiere. SLAY.

2. grown-ish, “If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.” At what point did her thumbs decide not to tell her brain that she was sending waayyyyy too many text messages?!

3. Alone Together, “Pilot”. I love how awkward Esther is. It’s so cute it’s painful.

4. Bob’s Burgers, “V is for Valentine-detta”. Gotta love the way this episode begins. Also, Louise’s makeover had me screaming throughout the whole thing.

Favorite YouTube Videos
1. Nick Jonas on BBC Radio 1’s Heart Rate Monitor. Teenage me remembers that Selena Gomez incident. So cringey. Ugh.

2. Bath With Liza. Just when you thought she couldn’t act anymore crazy…

The month of lovey-dovey is here.

Fan Art Fridays: Jim Chapman Draws Troye Sivan

troye sivan drawing by jim chapman

Sometimes I forget that YouTuber Jim Chapman used to draw, so when I saw this video he posted earlier in the week of himself drawing fellow YouTuber Troye Sivan, I was super hyped!

After asking fans what he should draw in a video, someone tweeted Jim a photo of Troye Sivan, to which he reckons looked “so delicious.” And so we have it: a sketch of Troye by the talented Jim Chapman.

Enjoy the video below!

Teen Choice Awards 2014 Highlights

Instagram photo by @teenchoicegirl (TC Headquarters) | Iconosquare (1)

This year’s Teen Choice Award show on FOX, hosted by Sarah Hyland and Tyler Posey, was the biggest teen summer party on television.

I was quite devastated this year that I couldn’t vote since I am now 20 years old, but the show must go on.

The show made history this year with its internet categories, giving surfboards to YouTube stars Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Zoella, O2L, and Bethany Mota.

Sarah Hyland and Tyler Posey struggled in the beginning of the show, but they caught on by the second hour. They were interesting hosts, nonetheless.

Here are the highlights of the 2014 Teen Choice Awards:

1. Demi Lovato opens with Cher Lloyd for “Really Don’t Care”

2. Mindy Kaling and Adam Samberg’s commercial.

3.  Magic! performance of “Rude”

4.  Nina Dobrev and Kellan Lutz’s “five foot radius” rule

5. Shailene Woodley’s acceptance speech

6. Tyler Posey reunites with Maid in Manhattan costar Jennifer Lopez and dances for her

This Week in Music: Troye Sivan’s First Ever Single “Happy Little Pill”

It has been a very exciting passed couple of hours for fans of South African/Australian YouTuber Troye Sivan.

His first single, “Happy Little Pill” from his upcoming album TRXYE dropped last night, and it is so freaking good!

The track has a certain element of light R&B. Combined with Troye’s smooth vocals, the song is definitely a crowd pleaser.

“I wrote this song during a bit of a rough time for someone super close to me, and for myself, and it still means as much to me as the day i wrote it, and i’m still as in love with it as the day i wrote it (which is rare for me!!). I couldn’t be prouder to be giving it to you guys today :’),” he wrote in the Tumblr post where he posted the Soundcloud link to the single.

I really love the songs instrumentals, especially the small bit of synth playing throughout the beginning and chorus that gives the song a breezy summer vibe. The song features some amazing imagery, in the hook before the chorus where he sings,

Tight skin, bodyguards
Gucci down the boulevard
Cocaine, dollar bills and…

Just pure brilliance.

This song will have to be our “happy little pill” until the release of TRXYE on Auguust 15th.

My question for Mr. Sivan is: will there be a music video to accompany this masterpiece?

Enjoy the song on Soundcloud.
