January Favorites: Squirrel Thieves, Wire Nails & Salt Bae

jan-faves

I would have posted this yesterday, but The Whisper Box was celebrating its 4th birthday by taking a little break from the keyboard.

I have mixed emotions about January 2017. It left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I already knew it was coming.

As I always say, when things are looking bleak, there’s always pop culture to cheer you up. Enjoy my faves for the month of January!

Favorite News Articles

1. There are squirrels stealing candy from a convenience store in Toronto. Call the squirrel police.

2. The wire nails trend is brilliant. Forget nail sticker decorations. I’m gonna need some wire accents on my fingers STAT.

3. Matt Lauer’s choker. What a sneaky one, wearing hidden jewelry for years! Tsk, tsk!

Favorite Music

1. “Michigan” by Grammar. Those lazy whispery vocals get me every time.

2. “Drink Up” by Train. This is definitely going to be one of 2017’s hit party songs.

December Favorites: Nordstrom Rock, Furry Nails & Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year

dec-faves

I must say, 2016 didn’t end completely horribly after all.

I mean, yeah, Mariah Carey got the last of it during the final minutes of 2016 at the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party on live television, but that’s over and done with now. New year, new fiascos.

Let’s take a look back at all the awesome things that went down in the world of pop culture and entertainment for the month of December 2016.

Favorite News Articles

1. Nordtrom sold a rock in a pouch for $85. And it actually sold out. /facepalm

2. Furry nails became a thing during the holidays. Must have been fun feeling like the Grinch is giving you a shower every morning…

3. Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year is green. Kermit the Frog green. Evil Kermit memes, anyone?

Favorite Music

1. “Baretta Lake” by Teflon Sega ft. SAINt JHN. Sounds a bit like Night Beds, and I love it!

September Favorites: Baseball Game Proposal, Wild Front’s “Rico” & ‘Suits’ S6 Finale

dd4539f1-f570-4b86-9cf6-f0ec61593f87

September 2016 will officially go down as the month of the worst celeb separations.

First it was Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Then Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber. And perhaps the worst was the recently wed Colleen Ballinger and Josh Evans.

My heart is a million pieces.

I still found a few things to smile about during the month of September. Let’s try to forget all this sad love nonsense and focus on the fun stuff in pop culture and entertainment from September 2016:

Favorite News Articles

1. This guy dropped the engagement ring in the abyss that is the baseball stadium stands while proposing on the Jumbotron. How awkward would that have been if it was never found!

2. Rihanna dressed in a furry red heart. Right after that romantic drama with Drake at the MTV VMAs…

3. Lady Gaga is performing at the 2017 Superbowl Halftime show! This is going to definitely be one to watch.

Favorite Music

1. “Rico” by Wild Front. If I had a car and a license I’d probably “drive all night” to this song. Cannot wait for WIld Front to release new music!

2. “Mieux Que Tout” by Paradis. Paradis’ album was so well waited for. They needs to come to NYC soon.

3. “Tough” by Goldroom. I’m demanding a re-release of West of the West. All of the songs need to be sung by Goldroom himself! What is this nonsense!

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Victoria Beckham dancing in Times Square. It bothers me that I work so close to Times Square and I was not around for this.

july 2016 faves

Since moving to Manhattan, by life’s been a bit hectic, so this is a late monthly faves post.

I spent the first few days of July celebrating Independence Day in Washington D.C. with my parents before the big move, and then I didn’t have much time to enjoy news, TV or YouTube.

So this is going to be a short one. Enjoy my favorites for the month of July 2016!

Fan Art Fridays: Emily Blunt

emily blunt fan art young victoria

Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway went head to head in a rerun of Lip Sync Battle on SPIKE last night.

I’m not gonna lie, I really wanted Emily to win. I love them both, but come on!

“No Diggity”?! I’m convinced that all of the women of England have secret rap talents.

Anyway, enjoy this piece of fan art I found of Emily Blunt on Deviant Art by LisaKM. It was inspired by her role in the film Young Victoria (also known as the film that caused me to fall in love with Emily Blunt).

I still love Anne Hathaway, though.

June Favorites: Princess Charlotte, #OITNB Season 4 & “This Is What You Came For” Music Video

june faves

June was heartbreak month in Hollywood.

The worst two for me were Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama, and Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris. The former really messed me up.

Then there was Zayn Malik & Gigi Hadid, but I don’t really think the fans for either of those two are ever too torn up about them being single…

On the plus side, I did discover some really awesome music in June.

Here are my faves in pop culture and entertainment for June 2016!

Favorite News Articles

1. Princess Charlotte’s debut. She looks just like her big brother and her daddy! And she’s got her mother’s charm 🙂

2. This grandma thanks Google in her search queries. Please give her the pleasure of visiting Google’s offices. I’m sure she’d make everyone’s day.

Favorite Music

1. “BOSS” by Disclosure. Oh, but I’m sure this track looks more than “good on paper.” Heck, I’d get it framed!
