Wardrobe Wednesdays: Ashanti @ 2018 VMAs

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards red pink carpet was a hot mess.

From half-naked dresses to devil costumesΒ (does Amber Rose realize it’s not even October yet?), the fashion looks I saw were a cry for help. Seriously, guys. This isn’t that hard. Wear a casual pantsuit if you can’t figure out what to hide your tatas and hooha with.

Regardless, most of the men looked SUPER (looking at you Maluma) and I’ll definitely give honorable mention to Camilla Cabello and sisters Chloe x Halle.

All of that aside, Ashanti won the night for me.

The singer showed up in a stunning silver number with not one but two slits. The gown was strapless with long sleeves and went beyond floor length.

This is the most leg I saw on the pink carpet without being basically naked, by the way.

I love how tasteful this look is. She shows off so much skin but still manages to leave enough to the imagination.

See below for two options inspired by Ashanti’s VMA dress!

Dress:

1. DHGate, $164.81

2. Fashion Genie Boutique, $77.00

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Mila Kunis @ Cosmopolitan Party in NYC

mila kunis fashionIt’s been too long since I’ve done a Wardrobe Wednesdays post! I’m a bit rusty, so just bear with me.

Mila Kunis attended a Cosmopolitan party in New York City celebrating her cover last week in this amazing plaid ensemble. She wore a matching blazer and pant with blue and brown hues, sporting a tan-colored tank underneath.

I don’t think I’d be able to pull off this matching suit myself, but it looks so great on her! I do love an oversized blazer, and Mila Kunis makes it seem so effortlessly cool to wear on a petite frame with this look.

The original pants are completely sold out, but the blazer is still in stock (marked with *). Check out the links below for some other items inspired by this outfit!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Blake Lively @ CinemaCon 2018

Blake Lively style, fashion, CinemaCon 2018

Blake Lively is definitely on my list of celebrity style icons, and this outfit she wore to CinemaCon 2018 may have just boosted her to the top!

The actress wore a navy blue Sonia Rykiel blazer dress paired with graffiti Louboutin heels and a multicolored Brackish bow tie. The ensemble oozes preppy, which is a great look on her!

I think my favorite thing about the outfit is the bow tie. It ties the bold blue together with the busy graffiti on the heels.

Come to think of it, I haven’t worn a bow tie myself in quite some time. Now that the weather is warm, I think I’ll start wearing them again.

See below for the original heels (marked with *), plus a few other pieces inspired by Blake Lively’s preppy chic look!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Jenna Dewan in Los Angeles

Jenna Dewan demin dress in LA

I’m going to try really hard to not think about the fact that Jenna Dewan isn’t wearing her ring anymore, in lieu of her and Channing Tatum’s heartbreaking separation πŸ˜₯

The actress was spotted this week in Los Angeles wearing a simple denim midi dress paired with strappy black heels. The sleeveless dress would have looked super casual had it not been combined with those cute heels, in my opinion.

It’s been so long since I’ve owned a denim dress, and now I want one. If the weather in NYC would just hurry up and actually turn more spring-like, maybe I’ll get myself a denim dress to wear this season.

See below for the original dress (marked with *) and some other items inspired by Jenna’s look.

#TWBT: Let’s Talk About boohoo’s Zendaya Edit

zendaya edit boohoo

Welcome to the first installment of #TWBT (The Whisper Box Talk) where I discuss happenings in the world of pop culture and entertainment!

As most boohoo shoppers probably did, I got a promotional email from the UK brand about The Zendaya Edit a few days ago. Some of you may already know this, but if you don’t I’ll make it explicitly known right now that I LOVE Zendaya Coleman’s style. It’s so eclectic and sometimes risky, which makes it so much fun to keep up with.

Needless to say, I clicked through to the edit immediately. I didn’t expect to be disappointed, and I definitely wasn’t.

While scrolling through the edit, I noticed many of the color schemes where quite subtle, with lots of white and yellow. There are some bold pieces in the edit with vibrant blues and colorful stripes, but for the most part, Zendaya seems to be going for a calm spring vibe with these pieces.

One of the most interesting ensembles from the photoshoot Zendaya did for this edit is the stripe satin ruffle maxi dress in red and white. She pairs the sweet dress with a pair of robust sneakers, which just goes to show how much of a risk taker the actress is with her fashion choices. She does the same with a pastel blue maxi dress of similar style.

I think my favorite piece from the edit by far is the striped maxi duster coat, not only because I’d totally splurge to buy it, but because I think it truly embodies Zendaya’s fierce and unapologetic style.

Even Paris Hilton is rocking it!

I also wouldn’t mind getting cozy in this pink sweater or going sporty chic in this blue bodycon dress with orange and yellow stripes.

So far, the edit has received complaints for not having plus sizes. It appears the plus sizes sold out first and will be restocked, according to boohoo. Regardless, I don’t think Zendaya should have to choose clothing for an edit that she can’t personally model herself, as she isn’t plus sized.

Maybe boohoo will get a plus sized actress or musician for their summer edit?

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Kaia Gerber in Malibu

Kaia Gerber in Malibu nobu fashion

Is it just me, or does Kaia Gerber always look like a deer in headlights when the paparazzi manages to snap a pic of her without her hand over her face?

That aside, I’m getting serious lazy Saturday vibes from this look Kaia sported while leaving Nobu Restaurant in Malibu with her parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.

The 16-year-old wore some extra strappy and heavily buckled black suspender pants from I.AM.GIA with a black high-neck top and a pair of good ol’ black Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers.

It’s officialβ€”I.AM.GIA sceptrum pants are the classy version of sweats, guys.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Ruth Wilson @ 71st BAFTAs

Ruth Wilson 2018 BAFTA award show fashion

Over the weekend, celebrities broke out their best black award show attire for the 71st BAFTAs at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Ruth Wilson caught my attention with a super sophisticated Dior tuxedo suit, which I absolutely LOVE.

The actress paired the tuxedo suit with a embellished cream-colored sandals and a red lip, keeping with the polished yet fun award show vibe.

I’m totally in the market for a tuxedo suit for this upcoming spring season. I cannot get over how amazing the straight leg pant looks on Ruth Wilson!
