Spring weather has finally arrived in NYC! I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to shed my bulky winter coat and don a colorful blazer.

Olivia Palermo is looking 110% spring in the April 2017 edition of THE EDIT with these phenomenal blue and yellow plaid Adam Lippes wide leg pants. The pants are paired with a navy blue sweater, which features cute yellow detailing around the neck.

Gallery Mondays: #MacysFlowerShow 2017 @ Macy’s Herald Sq

I somehow managed to squeeze some time in after work to navigate the maze that is Macy’s Herald Square in order to see the carnival-themed Macy’s Flower Show 2017.

I wasn’t able to see it last year (for reasons I cannot remember) but this year, I was determined to check it out, and I wasn’t disappointed.

The store’s street level and store windows were filled with floral arrangements, sculptures of carousel horses and clowns, and loads of other carnival-related display items. There were even unicorns!

My favorite was this spotted horse near Louis Vuitton. The flowers really brought its neutral colors to life. I can imagine how torturous it must have been for kids that were in the store with their parents, because even I wanted to hop on this horse for a ride around the carousel.

Learn more about the Macy’s Flower Show 2017, and check it out if you’re in Midtown before it closes on April 9th!

It’s finally back to feeling like spring again, and Earth Day is coming up, so I’ve decided to feature this artwork I found while visiting Austin, Texas in March.

The piece was created by Lucas Aoki as part of SPRATX‘s #CreekLove Storm Drain Project to promote keeping the creeks and lakes of Austin free from pollution. All of the art created for the project a painted over a storm drain.

I think it’s a pretty cool way to remind people to take care of their city. I was also quite odd but very pleasant to find art like this on the ground instead of on a wall.

Spring 2015 Rainy Day Playlist

umbrella edit

Spring is here, and if you live in New York then that means you’re still seeing bits of snow from the first day of spring’s snowfall.

Unbelievable. Come on, Mother Nature. Cut us some slack here.

We all know that the coming weeks will bring us tons of rain in exchange for some beautiful May flowers. I can live with that.

Here are 17 songs to help you through the rainy days this spring.

1. Thunder, Gold Fields: Just the right mix of melancholy and perfect bliss for the spring season.

2. California Rain, Betty Who: Let the sweet voice of Betty Who soothe your soul as the rain beats on your window pane.

3. Rain, MIKA: We all hate days like this.

 4. Right As Rain, Adele: Who can resist a little bit of Adele on a rainy day?

5. Rainy Zurich, The Fray: This is the song you make out in the rain to. (You’re welcome)

6. Rainy Taxi, Spoon: Give the rain a bit of mischief with this cowboy espionage induced track.

7. It Will Rain, Bruno Mars: Don’t worry, the rain will never leave us. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not but hey, the plants gotta drink too, right?

8. Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain), Klangkarussell: “You only see the stars when they fall like rain.”

9. Umbrella, Rihanna feat. Jay Z: This is the one and only rainy day classic you’ll ever need.

10. When It Rains, Paramore: I present to you the tearjerker on this playlist, courtesy of the members of Paramore.

11. Raindrops (Radio Edit), SNBRN feat. Kerli: Any rainy day’s a party with this one.

12. Before The Storm, Jonas Brothers feat. Miley Cyrus: Let’s relive some Jonas Brothers magic and Miley Cyrus sanity, shall we?

13. Thunder, Boys Like Girls: Will this always be your thunder?

14. Rainy Girl, Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness: What girl wouldn’t want to get stuck in the rain with a guy this romantic?

15. Come Clean, Hilary Duff: Oh, you’ll definitely be clean by the time summer comes.

16. Rain, Astronaut: Are you gonna wait for the rain to come?

17. A Year Without Rain, Selena Gomez: We’re all gonna feel like we’ve gone through a drought once the temperatures get hot, dry and unbearable in June!

Happy spring 2015!

Hofstra Spring Music Fest 2014

Music fest

Hofstra University’s Spring Music Fest 2014 did not fail to bring out the dancing fool in me.

If you follow me on Spotify, you’ll notice that I listen to a lot of alternative rock and pop music. Hence, this year’s lineup of ASTR, Vic Mensa, SZA, and Young the Giant made me extremely excited.

fest tent

The only rides this year were inflatable, so I didn’t really go on anything except the slide with my friend Aja. My jeans weren’t slippery enough to go down, so Aja’s satin-like romper wasted no time pulling me down. If we weren’t holding hands, I would have been stuck there for a bit!

Aja and I at the Hofstra Music Fest

We also got some really cool free stuff, including sunglasses, beach balls and airbrush tattoos!

First up was pop/rock duo Zoe and Adam of ASTR. They performed a few songs from their new EP Varsity including my favorites, “Blue Hawaii” and “Operate.”

Might I add that Zoe sure knows how to move those hips! Dayum girl!

Next up was Vic Mensa from Chicago. If you learn anything from Mr. Mensa it’s, “Make money, but the money you make don’t make you.”

vic mensa

I can’t stop dancing to his new single “Down on My Luck.” It’s so good!

Sub-headliner SZA put us all in a mellow state of mind with her beautiful R&B vocals. She sang crowd-pleasers “Babylon” and “Child’s Play.”

sza

At one point during her performance she told us she was self-conscious because her clothes kept falling off. She still looked cute!

Then came the moment we’d all been waiting for: Young the Giant.

They opened with “Anagram,” one of my favorites off their new album Mind Over Matter.

Lead singer Sameer Ghadia explained to us that the guitarist traded pants with someone for inexplicable reasons. I gotta say, he worked those baggy floral pants!

After singing some of my all-time favorites, including “Cough Syrup” and “Eros,” Ghadia did the unthinkable:

He came off the stage and into the crowd during their closing performance of “My Body”!

The highlight of music Fest..sorry for the terrible sound quality @youngthegiant @hofstraeu #hofstramusicfest

I was standing against the gate, so I got to touch his armpit! AHHHHH!

I can’t believe this was my last Spring Music Fest as a Hofstra student. Hopefully next year someone can bring me as a guest?

Spring 2014 Workout Playlist

Spring is finally here, and it’s time to shed all the blubber you gained during the winter to keep you warm! Getting toned and fit for the summer months could be quite the challenge, but bringing some music along might make your workout more enjoyable.

Whether you’re jogging, lifting weights, running on a treadmill, or just doing some old fashioned push ups, these 10 hard hitting tracks will keep pushing you closer to your workout goals!

1. Glasgow, David Guetta: This fast paced electronic beat will have you working up a sweat at the gym in no time. Try lifting weights to the beat of this one!

2. Ground Shake, DiRTY RADiO: That’s right, keep on running! Don’t be afraid to make the “ground shake, baby!”

3. Autosave, Fedde Le Grand and Patric la Funk: Keep a steady pace on the treadmill with this electronic beat. Perfect track to warm up to.

4. Natural Disaster, Laidback Luke and Example: You’re definitely going to “need some air” when you’re done with this track!

5. Shave It Up, Zedd: Get a little groovy on the exercise bike with this track. Put your back into it!

6. Suspension, LIGHTS: “You’re not close enough”! Keep pumping!

7. Work, Work, Britney Spears: Don’t you wanna “look hot in a bikini”? Then you “better work, work”!

8. Burnin, Gum Me: Feel the burn in your muscles. Own the burn.

9. Can’t Hold Us, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton: Nobody can stop you now. The ceiling can’t even hold you back. Just make sure to stay on the treadmill…

10. Modern Hearts, The Knocks ft. St. Lucia: This song is perfect for a cool down before leaving the gym. Or, the dramatic synth could make you feel like you’re taking the lead in race, slow-mo style. Either one works.

Happy spring, and enjoy your workout!
