Gallery Mondays: Macy’s Flower Show 2018 NYC

macy's flower show 2018 once upon a springtime

I probably would have completely forgotten about the Macy’s Flower Show this year had I not walked toward the lower 30s on Broadway to go shopping last week. I’m glad I did, because the displays are phenomenal this year!

With its “Once Upon a Springtime” theme, the show manages to incorporate fantasy, medieval culture, and fairy tales into its enchanting floral arrangements. I was awestruck when I saw all the magic displayed before my eyes.

There were so many people walking in and out of the cottage and castle displays that I couldn’t stick around long enough to take proper photos. I ended up making a u-turn on the way out to make sure I got enough shots of the displays I liked from different angles. Here are some of my favorites:

The Spring’s Castle Garden had ginormous purple mushrooms! I never get excited about mushrooms, but these were so gorgeous and almost alien-looking among the flowers that they caught my eye.

There were even some macabre elements featuring skulls as hanging flower pots.

Even a few costumed interpreters were dispersed across the ground floor to take photos with visitors. I’m sure they get quite the work out over the two weeks of this show while posing with tourists.

My two favorites are the hanging fairy tale book with pages floating above the escalators and the knight in the window display outside.

Nothing better than a good book and a strong knight to start out the spring season!

Be sure to check out the Macy’s Flower Show in Herald Square, NYC or over in Chicago or San Francisco before it closes on April 8th, 2018!
