November Favorites: “Pyor” by Darius & HTGAWM Fall Finale

November 2017 was an emotional roller coaster. I went from dancing around my room to the month’s most danceable tunes to nearly bawling my eyes out over season finales. It’s no wonder that it took me this long to sit down and gather all my favorites in pop culture in entertainment for this post.

Let’s get to it:

Favorite News Articles

1. The deets on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be here waiting for the specific date in May 2018 so I can set an alarm to catch this on television from across the pond.

2. Moschino’s dry cleaning bag dress. I can already see the Halloween costumes that will come of this.

3. You can now hide away in an 8-foot scarf this winter. You know you’re a New Yorker when all you can think about is how difficult it would be to take this off on a packed and extremely warm train.

4. Cards Against Humanity Saves America. Literally. Have fun trying to build that wall, President Trump.

Favorite Music:

1. “Pyor” by Darius. BRB, letting the enchanting instrumentals of this track keep me sane until the end of 2017.

2. “Mirage” by Satin Jackets. I’m dying to know who is singing the vocals on this because I really want to delve into their solo work if they have any!

Anyway, a lot of awesome stuff happened in pop culture during November 2016 in spite of other terrible things that may or may not be worrying us about the future. So let’s just forget about those and enjoy my faves for the month.

2. That’s So Raven 2 cast details! So excited for this.

3. Apparently Ben Affleck’s son caught a cold from Prince George. Does a royal cold feel any different from a normal one?

4. Kanye West tried to work from his hospital bed. Rest is for the weak.

1. “Stop Me” by Nick Murphy. I was having trouble understanding why the vocals sounded like Chet Faker and then I was like, mind blown.

November Favorites: JLaw’s 3rd Fall, ‘Memento’ Remake & Sofia Vergara’s Wedding Dress

November was a terrible month in serious news. Watching the evening news was hard, but when it came to pop culture there always seemed to be something uplifting to read.

As I say time and time again, pop culture news is always there for ya. Here are my favorites for the month of November.

1. Jennifer Lawrence falls AGAIN. I think she’s the most accident prone person in Hollywood.

2. Memento is getting a remake. Sepia? Snapchat? Is this being written into the script or nah?

3. The judge told ’em like it is. À la Taylor Swift lyrics.

4. The Breakup Shop. The fact that this exists is sad.

1. “Home” by Islandis. These guys need to make more music. STAT!

2. “Light Up” by Mutemath. I see psychedelic lights every time I hear the intro to this song.

3. “Adventure of a Lifetime” by Coldplay. This song is making me so excited for the new album!

4. “Hotline Bling” Justin Bieber Remix. I listened to it on my cell phone. Right before my train went underground.

Favorite TV Episode

1. Limitless, “Headquarters!” Please tell me I’m not the only one still laughing at Mike dressed like a girl at the end!

2. The Mindy Project, “Jody Kimball-Kinney Is My Husband.” Can we just stop for a second and think about the chaos…

3. Castle, “The Last Seduction.” I get so happy when Beckett and Castle are together ❤

Favorite YouTube Video

1. James Corden and  Justin Bieber pick clothes for each other. James looks like a street kid. What even.

2. Arden “just threw it on.” Will’s hand cameo was perf.

3. Will and Arden in the kitchen. These two are so adorbs I had to feature them twice this month 🙂

4. Mike Falzone’s “Hotline Beard.” Why didn’t he choreograph Drake’s video and save him the embarrassment?!

5. People are mad at the red Starbucks cups. But KKK cups? KKK CUPS?!

November Favorites: Sean O’Pry, Swiftamine & ‘Frozen’ is Real?

Yes, I know the November favorites are late, and I could give you a million and one reasons as to why, but how about we just stick to “better late than never”?

November’s pop culture news left me feeling extremely grateful for the humorous side of news, because boy there were some pretty awful hard news reports throughout the month.

Pop culture: restoring faith in humanity (sometimes).

So let’s get to it:

Favorite News Articles 

1. Sean O’Pry interview with Elle. After the “Blank Space” music video was released I just couldn’t get enough, man. (Side note: does anyone else notice his resemblance to Max Greenfield?!)
2. Series of Unfortunate Events is coming to Netflix as an original series! My childhood has come back to bring me long hours of binge-watching joy.
3. The unfolding of Lorde v. Diplo. Don’t mess with Taylor Swift, or her friends will come after you. “They used to shout [her] name, now they whisper it…”
4. Jennifer Lawrence’s garlic breath during Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 kissing scenes with Liam Hemsworth. After seeing the results on the big screen, I realize this was a fantastic idea (bravo Jennifer).
5. A man at a soccer game wipes his nose snot on a woman’s head. And someone just happened to catch it on Vine. #SchadenfreudeForDays

Favorite Music

1. “Sadness Disease – Rise at Night Remix” by Urban Cone. Love the original more, but this remix is very well done.

2. “The Heart Wants What It Wants” by Selena Gomez. So much emotion in less than a four minute time frame.

3. “Medicine” by 1975. I don’t know what it is about this song, but the melancholy is so bittersweet and tear inducing that it makes me happy… Is that weird?

4. “Why” by Le Sins ft. Nate Salman. I had my doubts about this project by Toro y Moi, but this song completely changed my opinion of Michael.

5. “Teacher” by Nick Jonas. Love. It. The lyric video is also brilliant!

6. “Together” by Calvin Harris ft. Gwen Stefani. This made me super excited to hear whatever else Gwen Stefani is working on in the near future.

7. “Kiss Me Goodbye” by Alexandra Stan. This girl is a rare European electro-pop gem. If this song is about a real event…jeez. Let me just leave it at that.

8. “Shoot Me Down” by David Guetta ft. Skylar Grey. I feel like I’ve been deprived of a voice like Skylar’s for too long. Where have they been hiding you!

9. “Isabel Street” by Robert DeLong. This guy seems to like writing lyrics that will get him in trouble. Me likey.

2. Frozen is real?! Props to this guy for getting on Jimmy Kimmel!

3. Rhett and Link attempt to become members of the Blue Man Group. I could not stop laughing at Link’s Lionel Richie shirt!

4. Marcus Butler and Niomi Smart superlatives. I’m with you on the spider precaution technique, Niomi!

5. PJ teaches us how to cut a pineapple. And how to decorate your abode with the remains.
