Gallery Mondays: Winter Rabbit

We had our first official snow day of 2017 this weekend.

Not fun.

On my way to the N train last week, I walked by Chase bank on West 39th between Fashion Ave. and Broadway when I saw this cute winter rabbit on the window.

I just love how innocent and vulnerable he looks! The colors are so winter wonderland-ish, and the muscle texture of the rabbit makes him look super agile.

Did you guys enjoy the snow day? Let me know in the comments!

2015 Winter Chill Playlist

So this is going up a week after winter officially started because the last few days were too warm to actually feel like winter. Up until, like, yesterday.

This year’s winter playlist was curated for those cozy moments where you just want to relax and curl up with a good book. I hereby present to you the 2015 Winter Chill Playlist—17 songs for what is probably going to be a long winter since it’s already a week behind…

1. The Boy (Spada Radio Edit), Emma Louise. Let’s start this playlist with something to warm up your cold little limbs.

2. Cirrus, Bonobo. What a melancholic delight this song is.

3. Moonrise, Zimmer. Such are the cries of winter.

4. You There, Aquilo. Time for a little bit of winter mourning.

5. Seance of Light, Jape. The soft ‘oooh’s throughout this tune are sure to relax your stirring mind.

6. Landslide, Oh Wonder. This landslide will most definitely not be bringing you down.

7. White Smoke (feat. Marina Price), Manatee Commune. Bask in the glory of winter relaxation.

8. Slow, Henry Green. Because winter can be painfully slow…

9. Corner, Night Beds. Don’t hide out in the corner all winter.

10. Divine Sorrow, Barfalk. Let’s not have the synth infused vocals on this track make us too sorrowful now.

11. Cocoa Hooves, Glass Animals. Pair this one with a cup of hot cocoa (hold the hooves) and your good to go!

12. Heartless, Kanye. “Cold as the winter wind when it breeze, yo.”

13. Snowbird, Aris Kindt. I can just imagine a bird shaking off the snow to the sound of this.

14. Out Alee, Hundred Waters. Those piano chords are sure to send chills up and down your spine.

15. Better, William Fitzsimmons. “Relaaaaaaaaax.”

16. Dawn, James Booth. Doesn’t this one make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

17. Cloud Generator, Tycho. This one is the soundtrack for the long stretch of time that passes as you wait by the window for the  clouds to generate snow.

Happy winter!

Anyways, Christmas is coming soon! Despite not having snow here in Malaysia, people here still celebrate Christmas 🙂 So today I will be coming out with a few recommendations of mine, I hope my style won’t be too weird for you to digest!

Outfit #1: Monochrome Boy Chic

Monochrome Boy Chic

Personally, my style is a little tomboy and girly at the same time. Probably with a little rebel rock vibe. Haha. I wanted to do a little twist with the jumper, so I chose an asymmetrical tulle skirt with it. Since it’s rather cold during winter (it is also chilly lately here in Malaysia!), I suggest this Dr Martens boot paired together with long knee-length socks. This is heavily influenced by Japanese style probably, despite the fact I do not read a lot of Japanese magazines. Hehe.

Next one!

Outfit #2: Candy Cane Love

Another preference of mine: outfits that do not need to be sexy to look sexy. Get it? Haha. Other than that, I also want to emphasize on comfort, and for me, this set has that factor.

Outfit #3: Cutie Pie Dwarf

I wanted to find something with print, but I guess tulle skirts catches my attention for this season. This outfit is suggested for a Christmas party. There are two options for shoes, same type different heights – in case one feels like dancing or doesn’t. I can imagine all shapes and sizes wearing this dress. The length is not too overwhelming for anyone, in my opinion 🙂 With the kind of hair and makeup I have attached with, it’ll definitely attract a little attention :p

And that’s all for my recommendations! I hope this will at least inspire you a little 😀 Thank you!

Winter 2013 Playlist

winter playlist

The end of the year is approaching, and the frigid cold weather is coming. It’s time to gather around the fireplace with some peppermint hot chocolate! The wintertime makes for great snuggle weather, so while you’re getting all cozy, here are twelve songs to make you feel warm and fuzzy.

1. Lighting Strike, Snow Patrol: If you’re planning to drift off to sleep, this sixteen minute song is all you’ll need. The track is split into three parts: “What If This Storm Ends,” ‘The Sunlight Through the Flags,” and “Daybreak.” Part three of the song might bring you to tears with its soft vocals and heartwarming guitar rifts.
Part 1: “What If This Storm Ends”
Part 2: “The Sunlight Through the Flags”
Part 3: “Daybreak”

2. If You Want to be Used, I Am Apollo: This song is the anthem of the vulnerable. Let it remind you not to fall into just anyone’s arms to escape the cold this winter.

3. Freedom, Emma Louise: The soft synth beat of Emma Louise’s “Freedom” might make you want to get up and dance the cold out.

4. Impossible, Anberlin: Another anthem of the vulnerable, yet this one is about giving in. Anberlin knows what it’s like to feel their “teeth clench” and their “hands shake” during the winter.

5. Siberia, LIGHTS: This is the perfect song to cuddle with your special someone. The lyrics are especially cute, as LIGHTS sings “No matter where we are / Or which way the wind blows / Or how heavy the snow / Nothing can change where we will go.” There’s also a really cute acoustic version here.

6. Northern Lights, Cider Sky: The Aurora Borealis looks amazing at this time of year, so if you live in a place where they’re visible, take some time to admire them. And for those of you who can’t see them at all, let this song give you an idea of how beautiful they are.

7. The Saltwater Room, Owl City ft. Breanne Düren: We’ll all be singing along with Owl City as he sings, “I was feeling the night grow old / And you were looking so cold / Like an introvert, / I drew my over shirt / Around my arms and began to shiver violently before.” This extremely romantic song features the sweet voice of Breanne Düren.

8. Everything You’re Not, Demi Lovato: The bell sounds in the intro of this track will get you in the holiday spirit. And let Demi’s sass power you through this winter.

9. Back to December, Taylor Swift: It’s that time of year again to reminisce on what we once have, and what we’ve lost.

10. Conspiracy, Paramore: Yes, mother nature, explain this conspiracy of cold weather you’ve plotted against us.

11. Rowboat, Emily Haines: This song is especially sad, with its melancholy trumpet and piano melody. Don’t be a rowboat left in the rain this winter!

12. Canvas, Imogen Heap: Maybe we should all take Imogen Heap’s advice when she says, “The more you look the less you see, so close your eyes and start to breathe.” The winter might breeze by faster that way. And let’s all thank God that we don’t have to haul a black canvas through a winter storm.

Have a great winter, and stay warm!winter
