Fan Art Fridays: Happy Birthday, Penelope Cruz!

art by baz penelope cruz fan art

Spanish gem Penelope Cruz is 43 today!

I guess she’s turning out to be one of those lucky people that age gracefully.

I’ve never watched any of her Spanish films, but I have seen her in Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, both in which she played very bold characters. Her performance always grabs your attention, and I think she’s really great at making characters that would otherwise seem unrelatable have somewhat of a likeability factor.

In celebration of Penelope Cruz’s birthday today, I’ve decided to feature this piece of digital fan art by Barry Weatherley over at artbybaz.com for this week’s Fan Art Fridays. That look on her face, man—I wonder how her husband Javier Bardem handles all of that hotness on a daily basis!

Poem in Your Pocket Day – “An External Conversation”

In honor of Poem in Your Pocket Day, here’s a poem I wrote a few years ago called “An External Conversation.”

I
want
you.
I do.
Don’t say things like that…
It drives me crazy…

You’re so beautiful.
You’re not so bad, yourself.
No one’s ever said it so seriously,
so honestly,
so sincerely.
Truly, you’ve made me realize
the unimaginable
But have I done the same
for you?
I’ll always be in debt,
emotional debt,
in the red.

Does your heart ask the question?
If it does, then I do,
Yes,
I do.
The answer will always be
I do.

Time?
Do we really need time?
I’ll admit, I’m a bit delusional,
and you’ve gotta admit,
you’re a little too kind-hearted.
Patience is something I long for,
and the urgency stirs within me.
I just want you to understand that.

Happy Poem in Your Pocket Day 2017!

Gallery Mondays: Art Rising at The Majestic Pop Up

the majestic art rising

Last week I went to a fun pop up at The DL called The Majestic where they had dancers in body paint, face painting, and a small art exhibit. Above is one of the pieces I found intriguing.

There’s a lot going on in this work of art by The Art Rising. The centerpiece appears to be a woman wearing red lipstick and a gorgeous gold eye shadow on her lids. She’s peering up at a figure wearing a crazy looking mask that I can’t quite figure out.

Like, what is going on here?!

Anyway, I love the fact that you can stare at this vibrant piece for a while and come up with a million different ideas as to what’s going on in it.

See more of their work here.

Fan Art Fridays: Paramore

paramore fan art

Paramore is back with some new music this week!

Their new song and music video “Hard Times” was released on Wednesdays, and Paramore fans are super stoked. So many things have changed about the band since their self-titled album came out in 2013. Hayley Williams got married, she died her hair blonde (loving it!), Zac Farro left for his solo project HalfNoise, and now he’s back!

So much excitement going on here!

In honor of this, enjoy a piece of Paramore fan art I found on Deviant Art by KoRniszonka. It features a 2012 version of the band, which included Hayley, Jeremy, and Taylor.

Oh, how times have changed.

Be sure to check out the original fan art on Deviant Art and watch “Hard Times” below!

Ivy VoxBox Review

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Back again with a new VoxBox!

I was super excited when I opened the Ivy VoxBox I got from Influenster a few weeks ago. I’ve been getting a lot of customized boxes from them the last few times, so this was a pleasant little mix of random products. There was even some candy thrown in!

This VoxBox contained Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers, two ChapStick DUOs (one in berry sorbet shimmer and another in refreshing watermelon + strawberry kiwi), a Nubian Heritage African Black Soap Facial Cleansing Bar Soap, a Gillette Venus Swirl, and 7th Heaven Foot Soak & Lotion. Very exciting.

Let’s get to the review, shall we?

1. Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers. I ate them all in one shot last week and then I felt guilty. They were just so good. The perfect amount of sour, in my opinion.

2. ChapStick DUO, berry sorbet shimmer & refreshing watermelon + strawberry kiwi. Okay, these are the coolest thing ever. I love the refreshing watermelon! You can attach these to other flavors to make the DUO, which I love because you can carry two flavors along in your makeup bag at once. They smell freaking amazeballs and provide a ton of moisture.

I stuck refreshing watermelon and strawberry kiwi together, then opted to put the former on my lips. Tastes DELISH.

3. Nubian Heritage African Black Soap Facial Cleansing Bar Soap. I’ve heard really great things about this brand, so I’m excited to try this face soap when I’m done with my current tube of Olay Facial Foaming Cleanser. Continue reading

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Freida Pinto in the H&M Tent @ Coachella 2017

Freida Pinto, H&M Tent, Coachella 2017

The amount of boho and vintage fashion at Coachella 2017 in Indio, California was simply outstanding!

Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto caught my eye in a well put together boho chic ensemble while visiting the H&M tent at the music festival this year.

She wore a green khaki tie front wide-leg pant with an off-the-shoulder crop top and a black fedora. It’s the perfect outfit for a festival, as the weather changes throughout the day, leaving you feeling not too hot and not too cold all at once.

My fave part of the outfit is the fedora. I have a small collection of fedoras myself, and I wouldn’t mind adding one like Freida’s to it.
