Winter 2017 Galactic Playlist

It’s officially winter, so you know what time it is! This year’s winter playlist is taking on a galactic theme in honor of the new Star Wars film that was released earlier this month.

This Winter 2017 Galactic Playlist features a few more upbeat tracks than previous winter playlists, with synth beats, electro pop, and more.

So let’s get to it with this 15-track, space-themed winter warm up!

1. Intro, Mood Robot. Let’s get the mood flowing with an intro from Mood Robot.

2. Curious, Ark Patrol ft. Victoria Zaro. I’d be curious about what would happen if I kissed someone in space too, you know, with gravity and all…

3. Flicker, Many Faces. I’d love to see your many faces flicker, too.

4. Back to the Stars, The Landing. For a sexy time in space, let’s go “back to the stars.”

5. 1901, Phoenix. Takin’ it back to the 20th century.

The weather has finally become more autumn-like, so it’s time for a fall playlist!

Mid-Summer 2017 Around the World Playlist

We’re midway through the summer, and if you haven’t already gone on vacation, you’re probably going somewhere fun soon to escape work and all the stress of everyday life.

As with most things, traveling is so much fun when you’ve got great tunes to go along with you.

This year’s mid-summer playlist is music themed, with songs about different places around the world to feed your wanderlust soul.

I hope these 18 tracks take you on an unforgettable summer excursion.

1. Hollywood, RAC feat. Penguin Prison. Here’s to trying hard not to be that person while visiting the Land of Stars.

2. Hamburg, Kapekoff. “Together we’re alive.”

3. Michigan, Grammar. “In a heavy fever” indeed.

4. Chicago, Canon Blue. A song for those hot summer nights in Chicago.

5. Monterrey, TW Walsh. I bet you can “find a way to get to Monterrey”.

Mid-Spring 2017 Dance Workout Playlist

So it’s the middle of spring and you’ve kind of been falling short on your workout goals. It’s okay!

Instead of forcing yourself to run a certain amount of miles everyday to burn calories, turning on some fierce Zumba and soca beats and dancing up a storm in your room for 45 minutes might help you burn fat more effectively.

In other words, why dread shredding the pounds when you can just dance them off?

Here are 14 of my favorite dance workout songs for getting that summer bod ready:

1. Shape of You (Latin Remix), Ed Sheeran ft. Zion & Lennox. Let’s warm this workout up with a little bit of praise for your present (and future) body.

2. Differentology, Bunji Garlin. You ready?

3. Sexy and I Know It (Glee Cast Version) ft. Ricky Martin. “Menealo, man, yeah.”

4. That Love, Shaggy. The only thing you won’t be missing are those pounds!

5. Fever, Vybz Kartel. Are you feeling the fever yet?

6. Get Ugly, Jason Derulo. “Let’s lose control.”

7. Watch Out For This (Bumaye), Major Lazer ft. Busy Signal, The Flexican & FS Greenu. Can your waistline resist?

8. Velocidade 6, Mulher Melancia. Time to pop that booty at full speed!

9. LUV, Torey Lanez. “I don’t know ’bout you” but burning calories “ain’t a crime.”

10. El Amor, El Amor, Zumba Fitness. Is this workout making you feel cuckoo?

11. Bicycle Ride, Vybez Kartel. “Ride ’til the bicycle bruk off, bruk off.”

12. Sorry, Justin Beiber. Never apologize for losing weight.

13. Perfect Strangers, Jonas Blue. “Come on, come on, come on,” keep moving!

14. Closer, The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey. Cool it down now.

Happy spring workout!

Winter 2016-17 Calling Your Name Playlist

winter-1209851_960_720

So, this winter playlist is going to get a little weird.

I’ve been toying with the idea of making a playlist of songs named after people for a while. The only season it really fit in, to me, is winter.

You know how in movies there’s sometimes a girl in the forest during the winter shouting someone’s name into the void, hoping she’ll hear a response echoing back? That’s the kind of vibe I wanted to capture with this playlist.

Enjoy the 12 songs on this winter 2016-17 playlist!

1. Josephine (Alfa Mist Remix), RITUAL ft. Lisa Hannigan. Some serious sensuality going down right here.

2. Virginia Wolf, mAsis. For those lonely winter nights when you just want to be alone.

3. Genghis Khan, Miike Snow. Jealousy, anyone?

4. For Elise, Saint Motel. “You need a spark, a light in the dark, to get you out of your head and into your heart.”

5. Sweet Ophelia, Zella Day. Time for some deep reflection.

6. Stephen, Kesha. You better call her, Stephen. None of that 72 hours nonsense.

7. Roman, Housse de Raket. “What have you done?”

8. Ramona, Night Beds. This one’s easy on the ears.

9. Geronimo, Sheppard. I don’t recommend you jump into the waterfall. It’s cold, and that’s dangerous.

10. Jenny, the bird and the bee. “Where are you, Jenny? Don’t you know that I am calling on the telephone?”

11. Hey Maria, Klangkarussel. Here’s a cool little foot-tapping number.

12. Randy, Justice. “Get yourself together.”

Stay warm this winter!

So put some gas in the tank, hook your tunes up to the car stereo and get ready to road trip it with this 17-track Spring Break 2016 Getaway Playlist.

1. Runaways, Betty Who. Start your engine to the sound of Betty Who this spring.

2. Tourists, Wilhelm Tell Me. No matter how you put it, you’ll be tourists wherever you don’t call home.

3. 48 To Go, The Fray. For that cute couple that keeps stopping in every state to make it a special moment. ❤

4. The Getaway, Hilary Duff. “Gotta make a getaway.”

5. You Are a Tourist, Death Cab for Cutie. Oh, it is most definitely time to go.

6. Ride, 21 Pilots. How fun would it be to actually go on a road trip with the guys from 21 Pilots?

7. Run, Coin. “Maybe we can run.”

8. Border, Years and Years. Sing along with this one every time you hit a new border line.

9. Somewhere Only We Know, Keane. Run away to somewhere only you two know.

10. Coastal Brake, Tycho. When the night falls and all the city lights line the highways, this song will remind you of your newfound freedom.

11. Run Away, Anthem Lights. Yep, “we can ride all night.”

12. I Wanna Go, Britney. We all wanna go, don’t we?!

13. Joy Rides, Mutemath. I call shootgun for this one.

14. Runaway (You & I), Galantis. Stretch those legs with this EDM track.

15. Anywhere We Go, Kaptan. Sing this chorus at the top of your lungs. Who cares what the other people in cars think…

16. Kidnap Me, CRUISR. For the goofball moments during your trip.

17. Runaway, Mr Little Jeans. Just remember, “When you run away you can go anywhere.”

Have a wonderful and safe spring break!

2015’s Best in Music

dance-club-736374_1280

Guys, my favorite moment of the year is here! I absolutely love looking through my Starred playlist on Spotify to curate my list of the best songs, artists, and albums of the year! This year’s list got pretty lengthy, so I decided to be very selective (which was almost impossible thanks to Spotify’s Discover Weekly) and cut my list down to 25.

Some fun international artists made it on to this list, as well as some artists that I’d heard in the past on mix albums and short EPs. I even got to see Trails and Ways and Neon Indian—two artists on my list below—live this year!

Enjoy my list of 2015’s Best in Music!

1. “Le Bal Des Oubliés,” Paradis, Couleurs Primaires. This EP snuck up on me. I didn’t know it existed until like three months after it came out but it’s an absolute French delight!

2. “I Give It,” Night Beds, Ivywild. Even though I can’t understand what’s coming out of Night Bed’s singer Winston Yellen’s mouth 95% of the time, the tone of his voice is just so good it doesn’t even matter!

3. “Company,” Justin Bieber, Purpose. No matter what crappy thing this boy does to worsen his reputation one thing is certain: he will always deliver good music.

4. “I Can’t Be Your Superman,” Skylar Spence, Prom King. Don’t doubt yourself, Skylar Spence.

5. “Dream About Me,” Trails and Ways, Pathology. These guys sound amazing live. You’ve gotta love a band that even lets the drummer sing lead on a track!

6. “Slumlord,” Neon Indian, Vega Intl. Night School. Psychedelic dreams, this one. I’d enroll in Vega Intl. any night.

7. “Science Fiction,” Christine and the Queens, Christine and the QueensWords cannot explain how happy I am that she decided to release an English version of this album! Also, enjoy this live performance and choreography (you won’t know what hit you at 1:08!):

8. “Light Up,” Mutemath, Vitals. I hadn’t heard these guys since the Twilight soundtrack they were on ages ago. I really hope they come out with a music video for “Light Up” at some point.

9. “Molecules,” Disclosure, Caracal. It was so hard to choose just one song that I loved from Caracal, but I went with “Molecules” because Disclosure sounds damn good singing on their own tracks without featured artists too!

10. “Me and the Rhythm,” Selena Gomez, Revival. This song was on repeat from the moment the full album was released and I regret nothing.

11. “Dopamine,” BØRNS, Dopamine. You just have to love BØRNS with his light pitch and the dopamine-like effect of his captivating lyrics.

12. “Learning for Your Love” (feat. Marcus Marr), Chet Faker, Work. This EP was such a pleasant surprise! I think Chet and Marcus should work together more often. Also, can somebody do a ballet choreography for this?

13. “Undiscovered,” Laura Welsh, Fifty Shades of Grey (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). One of the best soundtracks of the year hands down. But like, really, how awkward would it have been if this film had a bad soundtrack?

14. “FOOLS,” Troye Sivan, Blue Neighbourhood. Troye just keeps making his YouTube fans prouder everyday!

15. “Don’t Need Nobody,” Ellie Goulding, Delirium. Although I do miss her old folktronica and alt-pop sound, I don’t think this is a bad phase for her.

16. “True Believer,” Avicii, Stories. I don’t know why Avicii went that far in manipulating Chris Martin’s voice but it’s definitely laughable. So just laugh.

17. “I’m In Love With My Life,” PHASES, For Life. Such a fun song and music video!

18. “We’re Coming to You,” the bird and the bee, Recreational Love. I can’t explain the utter bliss I feel whenever I hear this song, but it is quite welcomed.

19. “The Line,” Seoul, I Become a Shade. Almost got to see them live. Seoul is such a beautiful mixture of melancholy and tranquility.

20. “The Less I Know the Better,” Tame Impala, Currents. WHERE HAS AUSTRALIA BEEN HIDING TAME IMPALA?! Gosh, they are amazeballs.

21. “I’m a Ruin,” Marina and the Diamonds, FROOT. I was shocked to find how depressing some of the lyrics were on this album but that doesn’t take away anything from its greatness.

22. “Beautiful Now” (feat. Jon Bellion), Zedd, True Colors. Beautiful now and forever.

23. “Testarossa Music” (feat. Gallant), Zhu, Genesis Series. Testarossa music? Try Testa-sexy music! Amrite?

24. “High Up,” The Maneken, Soulmate Sublime. Never in a million years would I have imagined taking a liking to a Ukrainian artist’s music, but I just love The Maneken’s accent!

25. “Spark,” Until the Ribbon Breaks, A Lesson Unlearnt. Until the Ribbon Breaks kind of reminds me of Anberlin. I can’t wait to hear what they’ve got in store for future projects!

Have a Happy New Year, everyone!
