Autumn 2020 Aromas Playlist

Fall weather is finally upon us! In these stressful times, I fond nothing more relaxing than inhaling my favorite scents, including lavender and cinnamon.

So, I thought it would be fun to create an autumn playlist inspired by some of the scents of fall. So brew your favorite flavor of coffee or tea and drop some essential oil in your diffuser while chilling to these tunes!

1. Lavender and Velvet, Alina Baraz. To be honest, if Alina Baraz’s voice were a scent, I’d bathe in it.

2. Tea & Poetry, Hello Harry, Thomas Garcia. Autumn is the best time for sipping tea and writing poetry while wrapped up in a cozy blanket.

3. Coffee, Sylvan Esso. “Get up, get down,” and smell the warm coffee.

4. Mint, Qveen Herby. Money mint? Peppermint? I’ll take both, please and thank you.

5. Cinnamon, Hayley Williams. Some spooky vocals from out fave Paramore gal.

6. Almond Eyes, Novaa. Almond eyes, almond nuts, almond milk.

7. Orange Trees, MARINA. Gotta get that vitamin C this fall.

8. Peach, Broods. A tune for when you’re trying to stay peachy and calm.

9. Myrrh, Coubo. A calming instrumental to play with your senses.

10. Ginger Tea, Jarreau Vandal. Polishing off this playlist with some spicy tea.

Happy fall, y’all!

DSLR Diaries: Misc Fall ’19-Winter ’20

I haven’t done a DSLR Diaries for a little while, and it feels strange, so I’m rummaging through my camera roll for some miscellaneous fall-winter 19/20 photos to share with you guys.

To be frank, I haven’t gone shooting much lately as it’s so cold out and the winter wind freezes my little fingers whenever I take my camera out in below 45° weather.

Even thought I think winter landscapes are magical, I’d much rather it be spring right now.

Anyway, enjoy these photos taken in NYC and Long Island during the months of November 2019-January 2020.

Fall 2019 Self-Care Playlist

It is finally starting to feel like autumn outside in NYC (no more random 90° F days in the middle of a 60° F week)!

This fall, I thought it would be nice to create a playlist to listen to after a long day of work while relaxing in a cozy essential oil-filled bath or whilst practicing my favorite yoga poses. Self-care is so important during seasonal changes, especially when your body is trying to figure out how to adjust to the weather.

So light your favorite fall candle, draw yourself an aromatic bath, or lay out your yoga mat and enjoy these relaxing tunes that’ll provide the perfect mood for your well-deserved self-care session.

1. Feel It All Around, Washed Out. You must feel self-care all around for this fall treatment to be effective.

2. Blowback, Galimatias. If you know, you know 😉

3. Warm Water, Banks. The perfect beat to soak in this very kind of temperature.

4. Hands, ALPINE. It is MORE than okay to feel the rain on your hands, darling.

5. Lost In the Moment, Darius ft. Wayne Snow. Self-care hour is just the right moment to get lost in.

6. Heaven, Clairo. Relax to the sound of Clairo’s vocals.

7. Sirens, SHOR. Don’t be troubled by the sirens.

8. Sail Away, Møme ft. Ricky Ducati. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes.

9. Neon, Magdalena Bay. A reminder that you deserve all the things you want, so visualize and take them.

10. Phoenix, Rhye. Your remarkable inner phoenix is rising.

11. Floating, Alina Baraz ft. Khalid. Go “skinny dipping deep inside [your own] head” (pleasant thoughts only).

12. Freedom, Emma Louise. Feel it.

13. Sade in the 90s, Qveen Herby. Permission to be jaded granted.

Happy Autumn!

Fall 2018 Halloween Costume Party Playlist

This fall, I’ve decided to wait until near the end of October to bring you a Halloween Costume Party Playlist!

The following playlist can serve as both entertainment for your Halloween party and a list of generic costume ideas, as each song title is the name of a common costume.

Enjoy!

1. Ghost, VHS Collection. Starting this party off with a smooth ghostly rhythm.

2. I Am Not A Robot, Marina and the Diamonds. Try to convince the computer CAPTCHA that you’re not a robot while in costume 🤣

3. E.T., Katy Perry. “Could you be the devil, could you be an angel?” No. An extra terrestrial.

4. Monster, Lady Gaga. Try not to eat anyone’s heart out tonight, okay monster?

5. Oh Devil, Electric Guest ft. Devin Di Dakta. “Oh, devil, I know you’re afraid…”

6. I Can’t Be Your Superman, Skylar Spence. Uh, yeah you can! No one can stop you from being superman tonight. Literally.

7. Mannequin, Britney Spears. Practice those mannequin dance moves in the mirror before the party and blow everyone’s minds!

8. King, Grades. Enjoy being treated like a king all night.

9. Queens, Rulers. Grab your girl group and dress up like the queens you know you all are.

10. Rocket Girl, Lemaitre ft. Betty Who. “You can call [her] rocket girl.”

11. Cheerleader, Omi (Felix Jaehn Remix). Did you find yourself a cheerleader at the party?

12. She Wolf, Shakira. Beware of the “she wolf in the closet.”

13. Doctor, the bird and the bee. Let’s just hope no one needs a doctor by the end of the night because chances are they’re just in costume.

Have a happy and safe Halloween 2018!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at LAX

Who said fall was strictly for leaves?

Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was spotted this week at LAX rocking the most amazing pair of velvet ankle booties I’ve ever seen! The velvet booties were black with a vibrant floral print. She paired the boots with a cozy white wrap coat and a black designer tote bag.

I don’t know what it is about velvet this season, but these boots are to die for! I love how the red rose just pops against the black background mixed with the green and blue plant prints.

Sadly, the original boots are sold out (not surprising!) but see below for a few similar options, as well as other pieces inspired by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s look!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Olivia Munn in Vancouver

Olivia Munn fashion in Vancouver

When it comes to laid back fall fashion, I think Olivia Munn is our girl.

The actress was seen walking her two adorable doggies in Vancouver a few days ago in the coziest looking tweed trench. She paired the look with a cute Batman crop top, Vans, and high waisted jeans.

I love the combination of patterns Olivia Munn mixes with the tweed and printed Vans. It gives the look an interesting depth without taking away from the relaxed nature of it.

See below for the original Vans (marked with *) and some other pieces inspired by the look!

Fall 2016 Long Walks Playlist

hiker-918704_960_720

It’s that time of the year again when the leaves start to dry up and fall off the trees, leaving your favorite parks covered in crunchy yet colorful landscapes.

For those of you that enjoy long autumn walks, here’s a little playlist to keep you company.

1. Manipulator, MADEIRA. Let’s manipulate the weather so it’ll be warm enough to take a nice walk in the park.

2. Crystals, ARDENCY feat. Icelandia. Some synth vibes from ARDENCY and Icelandia to guide you along.

3. Dekire, Charles Murdoch feat. Oscar Key Sung. These soft vocals from Oscar Key Sung are just the thing you need this fall.

4. Riptide, NTEIBINT. In the spirit of Halloween…

5. Bite, Troye Sivan. “Don’t you wanna see a man up close?”

6. Let It Happen, Tame Impala. This one is sure to put a pep in your step.

7. People, Kye Kye. A little serenade by Olga from Kye Kye.

8. Standard, Empress Of. If you start to “see a man who isn’t there,” I’d run back home immediately.

9. Pray to God, Calvin Harris, feat. HAIM. Let’s just hope you don’t run into any Wiccans in the woods.

10. Dead End Thrills, Cubicolor. The only moment when reaching a dead end in the woods seems thrilling.

11. Details, Andrew Belle. “You think the devil is gonna let on that you’re in the details?”

12. Touch Me, Superhumanoids. For the victory walk home.

Have an amazing autumn season!

Carving (& Drilling) Pumpkins with Karina

1006161948_hdr

I wanted an excuse to see Karina’s schnauzer Lou Lou last week so I bought two medium sized pumpkins at Lowe’s in Chelsea and hauled them all the way to Queens.

I already knew I wanted to carve an emoji on my pumpkin, but Karina was undecided. She saw a few cool patterned carvings online but realized she wouldn’t have the patience to carve that many holes into the pumpkin to create her design.

So we cranked some Roosevelt tunes while she took a drill to it.

1006161934b_hdr

I had a bit of trouble getting the pumpkin guts out of mine, but Karina had no problem stepping in to rake them out with a fork.

img-20161008-wa0001

It was fairly easy to draw the emoji on my pumpkin to carve out the shapes. After we put the small tealights into the pumpkins, Karina realized she needed to puncture her holes deeper in order to see the lights.

1006161959_hdr

Overall they turned out pretty well! Mine is molding now because I wasn’t aware that I had to bleach the pumpkin to preserve it. Karina had the right idea by not making the holes too big because if her’s molds you won’t notice. I’m hoping it’ll make it to Halloween anyway.

And there you have it: The heart face emoji falls in love with the disco ball.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Tamara Ecclestone in London

Tamara Ecclestone in London

Tamara Ecclestone was the crème de la crème earlier this week in London in a cream colored cashmere coat paired with an ivory sweater. She makes late fall fashion look super fun with the sassy little mini skirt and ankle boots she wore to finish the look.

I’ve never been daring enough to wear white outerwear. I just recently bought a white cardigan from Forever 21, and every time I eat while wearing it I cringe incessantly. There’s no telling what I’d do if I were wearing Tamara’s cream ensemble.

Nonetheless, she looks gorgeous, and is inspiring fashionistas to go invest in that cream coat they’ve had their eyes on for weeks. You can find some of the original pieces (marked with *) that Tamara is wearing below (adorable child not included, sorry) and alternatives in case they sell out.

Coat:

1. Harrods, £2,580.00 ($3,917.28 USD)*

2. Bloomingdale’s, $270.00

Skirt:

3. Abercrombie & Fitch, $40.00

4. Choies, $16.99

Boots:

5. Barney’s, $569.00*

6. 6pm, $60.99

Sweater:

7. Kohl’s, $44.99

8. Blue Fly, $69.00

If you’ve been tasked with creating this year’s Halloween party playlist and you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed, it’s time to sit back and take a listen to a few tracks that will definitely get your guests on their feet. From electronic dance to dark pop, this Halloween party playlist is going to have your party pumpin’ blood (no, not really…at least I hope not…).

Below are 17 tracks that I’ve curated to spookify your Halloweekend 2015. Enjoy!

1. Paralyzed, Mystery Skulls: Try not to become paralyzed by the first costumed guy or girl you come in contact with at the party(ies) you attend this weekend.

2. Maneater, Nelly Furtado: Let’s stay away from the maneaters in the room for the night, shall we?

3. Blue Jeans, Lana Del Rey (Gesaffelstein Remix): This one goes out to the wallflowers in the room.

4. Doomsday, NERO: Feel that heavy synth pumping through your bloodstream.

5. Afterburner, Futurecop! feat. Renegade: Do you feel that eeriness in the intro?

6. Feed Me Diamonds, MNDR (RAC Remix): If you’re going to be eating anything that night let it be anything but actual diamonds. We don’t need any real paramedics showing up at the party, please and thank you.

7. Houdini, Foster the People (RAC Mix): “Sometimes I wanna disappear…”

8. Teeth, Lady Gaga: All those in Lady Gaga inspired costumes please rise to this occasion.

9. Afraid of the Dark, MKTO: It’s okay to be afraid of the dark. Just dance the fear away.

10. Don’t Move, Phantogram: Are you going to obey Phantogram’s command to “keep your body still”?

11. Yellow Flicker Beat, Lorde: Try out some of Lorde’s infamous dance moves on the dance floor. Tonight it will be totally cool, I promise.

12. In the Dark, Dev: Just keep on “dancin’ in the dark.”

13. Ragdoll, Ashlee Simpson: Don’t you dare let anyone throw you around, even if you’re dressed up as a ragdoll for the night.

14. Dancing With Your Ghost, Cazzette feat. Sterling Fox: I hope this is a friendly ghost you’re dancing with for this number…

15. Here, Alessia Cara: I’ll tell you what you’re doing here. You’re here to dance.

16. Road Trip, Darius: Time to slow things down with a little bit of Darius.

17. Ghost Town, Adam Lambert: Is your heart feeling like a “ghost town” yet?

Have a happy and safe Halloweekend 2015!
