Alright, it’s Halloween season, so this month’s posts are all about fun looks that fashionable adults can attempt to pull off on October 31st.

We’re going back in time to the 78th Emmy Awards, hosted by our beloved icon Mariska Hargitay.

Please entertain this brief rabbit hole with me:

One of Hargitay’s looks, styled by Erin Walsh, was a gorgeous silver mermaid-scaled corset Sophie Couture dress.

I have a feeling this was intentional because,

• The word siren is often used to describe mythological mermaids.
• Sirens are used on police cars (Hargitay’s character on Law and Order is Olivia Benson, a police chief).
• Original sirens were actually considered bird-women, which is HILARIOUS because there was a moment where Hargitay engages in dialoge with Nicole Kidman, who is wearing a feather (bird-like) dress.

I commend whoever planned this!
