Summer 2019 Vacation Playlist

It’s SUMMERRRRRRRRRR!

After these terrible rainy days that we can’t seem to get a long enough break from in NYC, I’m finally sitting down to share a playlist of 10 summer vacation-themed tracks! From basking in summer activities to traveling to your next vacay destination, this playlist is a fun mix of mellow and exciting.

Enjoy!

1. Holiday, Qveen Herby. Request that PTO and get ready to “put on your grass skirt and hula” all summer long.

2. Summertime Magic, Childish Gambino. Let the vacation festivities begin!

3. Cheapest Flight (Aluna George Remix), PREP. Already booked.

4. Swimming Pool Summer, Capital Cities. “Can’t escape the heat.”

5. Permanent Vacation, 5 Seconds of Summer. It has only just begun.

6. Frequent Flyer, Chromeo. Using up those frequent flyer miles this season.

7. Tuttifruitti, Phoenix. “We’ll be trashing motels.”

8. Flight Mode, Mr Sanka. Mood.

9. The Beach, Cannons. Here’s to letting go of that summer love that was never really worth it.

10. Glamorous, Fergie ft. Ludacris. A fancy little reminder to get on a plane back home once you’ve run out of vacation money.

Enjoy your summer vacation 😉

Gallery Mondays: Woodrow White’s ‘Dip’

Happy Memorial Day!

Lots of beaches and pools are opening today (and if not, they will be soon), marking the first unofficial day of summer.

Because of this, I’ve decided to feature Woodrow White’s painting Dip, which I saw back in 2014 at the Joshua Liner Gallery Your Favorite Artists Favorite Artist exhibit in NYC.

That vibrant green pool water and oscillation is so summer.

See more of Woodrow White’s work at www.woodrowwhite.com.

Fan Art Fridays: Lorde

Happy New Year!

One of my favorite music videos of 2015 was “Magnets” feat. Lorde by Disclosure. From Lorde’s makeup, to her outfits in the video, to the dramatic sinking into the pool at the end of the video, it was everything we could ask for an more.

The song is also very groovy too, especially for the scandalous subject that the video touches on.

And, of course, we get some dance moves from Lorde in this one so it’s automatically a must-watch.

I found this awesome “Magnets” inspired fan art on Instagram by Brian Foott. I just love how he animated Lorde’s hair floating in the water!

Enjoy the original fan art here.

California Day 3: Hollywood Walk of Fame, Wattles Park & Pool Time

Could be New York, maybe Hollywood and Vine …

– Hilary Duff

For Labor Day in California, we spent some time on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I wanted to find Sandra Bullock’s star but my parents and aunt got tired of walking before we were anywhere close.

Cue photos with Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Mariska Hargitay, and Carol Burnett’s stars:

And then I was teased with a glimpse of the Hollywood sign on the way back to the car. I still can’t believe I didn’t get to go up there 😥

Then we had a somewhat failed attempt in the Hollywood Hills at the Wattles Park and Mansion. Since it was a holiday, it was locked but the gardens were open.

We also saw a pomegranate tree. My mom picked one, and we didn’t actually open it until two days later. (It didn’t taste very well).

When we got back to the hotel we came to the conclusion that we deserved a bit of pool time.

There was a cute kitty near the deeper end when we got there. I scared it away by getting too close with my phone.

The water was too cold for me, so I settled with just dipping my feet in.

Stay tuned for day 4 tomorrow!
