Influenster Vacay VoxBox Review

With summer comes another VoxBox from Influenster for me to review!

This Vacay VoxBox arrived a few weeks ago while I was having internet problems, but now that the nightmare of Wi-Fi past is over, I can finally show you guys the goodies inside.

There are several items in this box that I was very excited to receive. This tiny VoxBox was packed with Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer and Clean It Up Shampoo, KISS Blowout Lashes, Invisibobble, and a Target coupon for the new Sour Patch Kids Fire or Freeze candy.

Let’s dig in:

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1-Primer: I love that this product has argan oil in it (I’ve recently become OBSESSED with natural ingredients). I’ve been wanting to see if argan oil would make my hair look any different than olive oil does. Apparently this also protects against UV damage. Maybe it’ll even protect my hair from summer frizziness? We shall see.

Eva NYC Clean It Up Shampoo: I’m perfectly happy with the shampoo I’m currently using, so I’m going to hand this over to someone else. Like the Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer, this product contains argan oil, which is pretty cool.

KISS Blowout Lashes in Pageboy: I’ve only ever tried fiber lashes, so I’m pretty stoked to find a special event to wear these to! I wear glasses, though, so I hope they’re not too long, or else they’ll brush against my specs. I’ve heard from those with naturally long eyelashes complain about the glasses problem A LOT. It’s a problem I wouldn’t mind having if it meant some extra wink length.

Invisibobble Original: As you might have seen in my haul video back in January on YouTube, I’ve been using (and loving) coil hair ties to stop breaking my locks. The ones I currently own are black, so I’m very much appreciating a second color option to match my lighter toned outfits. This is supposed to prevent marks from forming in your hair when you tie it up in a ponytail or bun, but my hair is so coarse I can’t really escape it. Regardless, I don’t see any strands getting stuck in these coils when I take them out of my hair, so I’ll give these an A-.

Sour Patch Kids Candy Freeze: It appears that the item you have to do the most work for ends up being the best. These were so yummy! I had to try two different Target stores in Manhattan to find the flavor I wanted (I got to choose between Fire and Freeze, so I was not about to burn my mouth with the Fire flavored ones if I didn’t have to), but it was so worth it. You don’t notice the cooling sensation until a bit after you swallow the first one. It’s quite nice on the tongue and the throat. Side note: I also got a cool Sour Patch wallet sticker for the back of my phone!

Overall, my favorites in this Vacay VoxBox are the Invisibobble and the Sour Patch Freeze candies. And who knows, I might like the way I look in the KISS Blowout Lashes when I finally get invited to something I can wear them to.

Influenster Dazzle Voxbox Review

I got this Dazzle Voxbox over a month ago, but I’ve been so busy I’m just getting around to writing a review for it.

Upon receiving this box, I noticed it was quite tiny, which usually would mean that it’s one brand sending a couple of their products. However, it turns out the box is a mini version of the assorted product Voxboxes I’m used to.

Let’s get reviewin’!

Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal: This item was in the Tinsel Voxbox I got a few months ago, and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I take it with me on short business trips and getaways. It smells so good, and it’s great for my dry hands that are seriously wishing winter would end already.

Clairol Professional Jazzing Semi-Permanent & Temporary Hair Color: I received this in the shade Cherry Cola #56, which is the color my grandma used to dye her hair! I have never dyed my hair and don’t intend to in the near future so I’ll be giving this away to someone.

iThrive Keratin Rescue Split End Repair: In March 2018, I took a vow to be nicer to my hair, so I am no longer using any sulfate or alcohol based hair products. This will also be given away. Smells great though.

Overall, I’m so glad I got another Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal! It was a fave of mine from the last Voxbox, and I’d honestly buy it when it finishes.

I’ve worked with a handful of brands through this blog over the last three years and never would I have imagined the ridiculousness that ensued while working with FashionMia.

FashionMia reached out to me in November 2017 about reviewing their clothing on my blog.

I was given a $50 credit to pick out a few items I liked from the site for this review. I ended up choosing four items.

I didn’t receive anything from the company until the beginning of January. It was the holiday season, so I wasn’t too peeved about it taking so long to arrive from China to New York.

But then I realized one of the four items—a burgundy blazer—wasn’t in the package I received. I contacted FashionMia to see what was up, and they said the notification system didn’t send me an email saying the item was out of stock, which would explain why it didn’t ship.

FashionMia decided to let me choose another item in place of the blazer, so I opted for a green dress. I asked if I could wait until the green dress arrived to write and film the YouTube video for my clothing review. They said yes, and assured me the dress would ship immediately. At the end of January, I got another email asking if I could post my review without having received my complete order. I was also told the green dress is out of stock.

Absolute insanity.

Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be ordering from FashionMia ever again.

Here’s a written review of the items I did receive:

Blouse: I love the light fabric and bird print on this blouse. It’s a super easy piece to match with a pair of jeans, and it’s very colorful without being too over-the-top.

Clutch Bag: I’m well aware that I shouldn’t overload this clutch bag with too many things because it might break, so I’m fine with the light material of this bag. I probably won’t use the strap much. Overall, this clutch is perfect for those who don’t need to carry too much around while on a night out. I do wish that the strap clasps weren’t so tedious to remove.

Dress: I’m not happy with the way this dress fits. The mock neck has stretched out a bit after trying on the dress twice. The chest area has an awkward fold that isn’t flattering.

Tinsel VoxBox Review

Before I went home for the holidays, I got a lovely Tinsel Voxbox in the mail from Influenster! I wasn’t expecting it to arrive until the new year so it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

The box came with a variety of assorted goodies. Let’s dive in!

Vera Wang Embrace – Green Tea and Pear Blossom: I’ve never owned any Vera Wang fragrances, but this one is a very interesting scent combo. I can definitely smell the pear more than I can smell the green tea, but I don’t see that as a problem, necessarily.

Nautica Blue Sail: I’ve bought the one ounce version of this for my dad as a gift in the past. I like that it’s not an overpowering cologne smell. It’s just enough to smell like you took some time to freshen up.

Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo: Dry shampoo doesn’t really work well on my coarse hair, so I’m giving this to my roommate. Hopefully she finds it more useful than I will.

Eva NYC Forget Me Knot Dry Conditioner: See above.

Luscious Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon (Queen Bee): I was kind of afraid to try this color because it looks very bright and loud, but it turns out that Queen Bee really compliments my skin tone. I also love the fact that it’s a subtle mix or bright red and hot pink. I can see myself wearing this regularly.

pout maker lip contour crayon queen bee BarkBox Sushi Plush Toy: I don’t have a pet, but my former roommate does, and I totally remember this sushi toy coming in the mail for him! I’m going to put this on my desk as a little decoration 🙂

Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal: This is the most soothing cream for the hands and for your nose! It feels and smells amazing. The coconut oil, African shea butter, and cocoa butter mix together to make such a beautifully nourishing cream. I can’t believe they send me a full size tube!

7th Heaven Charcoal Peel-Off Mask: I absolutely love these masks! They’re perfect for a winter night in. I usually put it on right before hopping into the shower so I can take it off while I bathe. So good!

Overall, I love the Pout Maker Lip Contour Crayon in the shade Queen Bee and the Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal. Both of those items are going to get used a lot this winter.

Photowall Canvas Print Review

A few weeks ago, I woke up to an email from Swedish company Photowall asking if I wanted to review one of their products. Photowall sells gorgeous wall murals, wallpaper, and canvas prints, and even offers the opportunity to order custom made products.

I could not say no to doing the review, because my roommates and I have some large bare walls in our living space. Since my roommates always joke about liking nude art (I honestly thought they were serious for a while), I typed “nude” on Photowall’s site and got a result for Michelangelo’s “Studies of Male Nudes”. The blush pink color of the canvas print matched one of our couch pillows perfectly, so I wasted no time notifying Photowall to send it to me for this review.

When I received the package via DHL, I was a bit confused due to the skinny rectangular shape of the package. I ordered a perfect square sized (90 cm x 90 cm) canvas print. Shouldn’t it be bigger and square?

Fortunately, it was the right order, it just required some assembly, namely sticking, stretching and screwing.

The black screws stopped lining up with the holes at one point, so my roommate got impatient and decided to get nails to drill in with a drillbit.

And then this happened to one side of the canvas.

OOPS.

Other than that snafu, assembly wasn’t difficult at all. After we finished, we rested it on the couch to see how it would look.

Let’s study this male nude!

Our living room isn’t finished yet, we haven’t hung it up officially, but we plan to do so with command strips since the canvas is only 11 pounds.

Classy Texas gals and Michelangelo

We’re super happy with our canvas print from Photowall. Delivery to NYC was seamless, and I think our living room is really starting to come together with this piece!

Maybelline Metallics VoxBox Review #MatteMetallics

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

I’ve been so busy lately that I just got a chance to try on these metallic lipsticks by Maybelline that got from Influenster! I wasn’t completely sure which colors I would be receiving, so when I opened the box I was a bit shocked and kind of scared.

Two tubes of lipsticks stared back at me, one in the shade Molten Bronze (970) and another one called Smoked Silver (978). I opened each tube wondering how ridiculous I would look wearing these colors.

I’m your basic pink and red lipstick kind of gal. Occasionally, I’ll wear a purple or maybe even a brown lipstick, but other than that, I don’t go too far outside the norm. I own a tube of yellow lipstick that I’ve only worn once around the house to take some fun photos (I’d never leave home with that on!), and that’s about it.

I was really dreading the Smoked Silver. It had a bit of a purple undertone, but I wasn’t too excited about how it would look on me. Regardless, I tried it on first.

Hoping the smoky part of this lipstick wouldn’t be too intense, I got ready for work and applied the lipstick. As soon as I saw myself in the mirror I knew I wasn’t going to go out in public wearing it.

I sent a few snaps of me wearing the lipstick to my mom and she told me I looked like a smoker whose lips had been darkened by cigarettes. Then she told me I should give the lipstick to her instead!

The next day I tried the Molten Bronze lipstick. I wasn’t as worried about this one, since I already know how I look with brown lipstick. This one looks a bit dark if you put three layers on though, so I only applied two.

As you can see from my smile, I was quite pleased.

Overall, the Molten Bronze was my fave, and I’ll be wearing it again. I gave the Smoked Silver lipstick to my mom, and it looks normal on her so she’ll probably wear it every now and then. A lot of other reviewers used the Smoked Silver shade with their Halloween costumes, which worked pretty well.

The lipsticks come off easily while eating and drinking, which I’m not used to since I usually wear lip stains that keep my lips colorful after lunch. Oh well.

Let me know which shade is your favorite!
