I’ve been so busy lately that I just got a chance to try on these metallic lipsticks by Maybelline that got from Influenster! I wasn’t completely sure which colors I would be receiving, so when I opened the box I was a bit shocked and kind of scared.

Two tubes of lipsticks stared back at me, one in the shade Molten Bronze (970) and another one called Smoked Silver (978). I opened each tube wondering how ridiculous I would look wearing these colors.

I’m your basic pink and red lipstick kind of gal. Occasionally, I’ll wear a purple or maybe even a brown lipstick, but other than that, I don’t go too far outside the norm. I own a tube of yellow lipstick that I’ve only worn once around the house to take some fun photos (I’d never leave home with that on!), and that’s about it.

I was really dreading the Smoked Silver. It had a bit of a purple undertone, but I wasn’t too excited about how it would look on me. Regardless, I tried it on first.

Hoping the smoky part of this lipstick wouldn’t be too intense, I got ready for work and applied the lipstick. As soon as I saw myself in the mirror I knew I wasn’t going to go out in public wearing it.

I sent a few snaps of me wearing the lipstick to my mom and she told me I looked like a smoker whose lips had been darkened by cigarettes. Then she told me I should give the lipstick to her instead!

The next day I tried the Molten Bronze lipstick. I wasn’t as worried about this one, since I already know how I look with brown lipstick. This one looks a bit dark if you put three layers on though, so I only applied two.

As you can see from my smile, I was quite pleased.

Overall, the Molten Bronze was my fave, and I’ll be wearing it again. I gave the Smoked Silver lipstick to my mom, and it looks normal on her so she’ll probably wear it every now and then. A lot of other reviewers used the Smoked Silver shade with their Halloween costumes, which worked pretty well.

The lipsticks come off easily while eating and drinking, which I’m not used to since I usually wear lip stains that keep my lips colorful after lunch. Oh well.
