WHITL Earrings Review

A few weeks ago, a company called WHITL Woodworking sent me an email asking if I wanted to try their handmade wooden jewelry. The costume jewelry collector in me could not refuse the offer!

WHITL Woodworking in Abilene, Texas makes eco-friendly earrings out of  ethically sourced wood. They also have designs made of leather, which are quite sophisticated and unique. The company partners with local mental health nonprofits to assemble their earrings.

I had a hard time choosing the earrings I wanted to review due to the fact that they have so many amazing designs on their site. I settled on the Cheetah & Maple Claw Earring, and a friend of mine picked out the Walnut & Rose Gold Leaf Earring set. I was also sent two mystery earrings, which ended up being the Beautiful 3 Point Cactus Earring  in the color Moss and the Feather Earring in the color Walnut.

I absolutely LOVE the Cheetah & Maple Claw set, as it’s super bold and stands out quite a bit against darker-colored outfits. When I showed these to my mom she immediately started telling me about this cheetah-print loungewear set she has that would look amazing with it, so I might let her have them.

I also really love the Feather ones. The color is perfect for autumn, and I can definitely see myself wearing them a bit when I want to add a little subtle charm to my look.whitl woodworking feather earringsYou’re bound to find a pair on their site that would be perfect for yourself or as a gift for someone else.

Photo Diary: Marisa Perry Atelier Bourbon & Baubles Event

IMAG4273

Never did it dawn on me that jewels and spirits might be the perfect combo.

I was invited to the Bourbon & Baubles event at Marisa Perry Atelier, a jewelry shop in the West Village of NYC, on February 11th. The event was part bourbon tasting and part jewelry perusing.

I’m not much of a bourbon fan so I settled on some sparkling pomegranate to start and then moved up to a sparkly white wine I didn’t catch the name of. When I asked for the wine, the bartender looked at me weird and asked “How old are you?”

“I’m 21,” I told him. He just stared at me. “Do you want to see my I.D.?”

I never get carded at intimate events like this, but I wasn’t leaving that table without my white wine, so I pulled my wallet out.

Just then, Marisa Perry walked by in her gorgeous red dress and purple pumps.

“Are you serious?” she asked when she saw me taking my I.D. out of my wallet.

“She looks 17!” the bartender exclaimed.

Marisa then gave me a side hug and laughed. “Take it as a compliment, darling. I’d be jumping over tables if someone asked me for my I.D.”

Yes, Marisa Perry hugged me. She’s is officially the coolest jewelry shop owner I’ve ever met.

Since none of the friends I invited were able to make it, I had way too much time on my hands to take photos at the event. I hereby present to you the bourbon, the baubles, and the adorable chocolate lab.

Green Tree Jewelry Review

SPONSORED*green tree jewelryThis post is sponsored by Green Tree Jewelry. All opinions are my own.*

Green Tree Jewelry is a San Diego, California based company that makes wood-cut earrings, pendants, bracelets, and even clocks using thin, recycled multi-layer wood. Their jewelry is both fun to wear and eco-friendly.

I was sent three pairs of earrings to review. My first choice was the Hunger Games: Mockingjay earrings in Cinammon, my second choice the Nautical Star earrings in Black Satin, and my third the Diamond Cut earrings in Apple Green and Gray. When I got the earrings in the mail, I noticed that they smell like a subtle cedar wood incense. It’s quite lovely.

The earrings are not heavy at all, and they look great with an updo. I just can’t get enough of how amazing they smell! I’ve been wearing the Nautical Star earrings quite a bit lately, so the smell is wearing off a little which is kind of sad, but the other two pairs are still going strong.

With over 600 different designs to choose from on the site, you’re bound to find one for just about every jewelry-obsessed girl on your Christmas list.
