DSLR Diaries: Artemis Lucille & the Birds

If you follow me on Instagram or watch my YouTube channel, you’ll know that I’m the proud owner of a new Canon EOS 4000D. It’s my first ever DSLR camera, and I’m so excited to be considered an amateur photographer.

As I practice taking photos, I figured it would be fun to start a new series called “DSLR Diaries” where I share some of my favorite shots for the month. My ultimate faves go on my Instagram stories immediately after I’ve taken them, so I’m not going to repost those here. Make sure to follow @thewhisperbox so you don’t miss them!

Enjoy my July 2019 in photos!

December Favorites: Cat in the Santa Hat, Letters to Satan & Good Mythical Moms

december faves

December 2015 was full of fun, holiday themed pop culture feature articles and videos. There were so many YouTube videos on my favorites list that I had to cut some of them out just to avoid making this post too long!

Here are my favorites in pop culture for the month of December.

Favorite News Articles

1. The cat in the Santa hat. Pure torture.

2. Children’s Christmas letters to Satan. The worst spelling error EVER. I can imagine how fun this must have been to write.

3. New Girl season 5 teaser confusion. Because Jess’ broken legs were honestly the only thing I could think about throughout the entire clip.

Favorite Music

1. “Focus” by P’ARIS. This song’s lyrics are just so captivating, especially the first verse. I’m excited to hear what else P’ARIS has in store for us in 2016.

2. “UGH!” by The 1975. Just from this song alone, I can tell I like it when you sleep, for you are so peaceful yet so unaware of it is going to be amazing.

3. “Learning for Your Love” by Chet Faker ft. Marcus Marr. That guitar melody after the chorus sends me into a frenzy every time.

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent came back with a vengeance. One does not simply attempt to take photos up someone’s skirt and get away with it.

2. “The boys” (Caspar Lee, Oli White, and Joe Sugg). Joe’s face in this Instagram is everything.

Favorite TV Episodes

1. Chrisley Knows Best, “Sports Day.” I’m such a schadenfreude for laughing at Chase’s fall during the obstacle course run.

2. Limitless, “This is Your Brain on Drugs.” Great. Now everyone is going to start getting shot and killed at the agency because of NZT.

Favorite YouTube Videos

1. Good Mythical Moms. Is it crazy that I actually think this would be a successful spin off?

2. Rachel and Colleen Ballinger’s awkward Christmas dance. I couldn’t handle the awkward.

3. New romantic interest in Joe Sugg’s diary. Young Joe was a hot topic with all the ladies, it appears.

Happy January!

California Day 1: Walking to the Wrong Store Location in Montebello

Last week I went to California with my family! I’ve decided to document my 6-day trip with a daily blog post of my adventures. We stayed in a hotel in Montebello, and visited Los Angeles for the majority of our sightseeing trips. Here’s what we did on day one!

Hoped off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan …

– Miley Cyrus

After a long flight and a long wait for the rental car, we made it to our hotel to find that our room wasn’t ready. So, to kill time, we went to the Domino’s Pizza place in Montebello because by then it was already 6 p.m. New York time and we hadn’t yet eaten anything since breakfast.

Cue the pizza pig out.

(Side note: Check out this ginormous fish in the hotel lobby’s fish tank!)

After the pizza we decided we wanted to fill our mini fridge with some groceries, but my dad had already dozed off and my mom was too scared to drive as a tourist in California. So we went by foot. The walk was only supposed to be 20 minutes long, so my mom and aunt agreed to it.

We stopped at Starbucks for free cups of water. The Starbucks in Montebello has a drive thru! Whattttt!

The scenery in Montebello is so gorgeous. Everyone has such beautiful shrubs and gardens.

We even saw a lime tree!

So after 20 minutes of complaining about the crappy pathway we had to walk on to get there (the concrete was severely damaged by tree roots), we finally get to the last turn on the Google Maps directions.

But instead of the supermarket we ended up at the supermarket warehouse, which doesn’t sell to the public. Oops.

My mom and aunt were so pissed. We tried waiting for the bus to go back but it never came. Until we started walking again.

Figures.

Anyway, we found a cute kitty in the Starbucks parking lot on the way back to the hotel.

The time difference caused me to fall asleep at 9 p.m. and wake up at 6 a.m. California time. #Jetlagged.

Stay tuned for day 2!

Meet Taylor Swift’s New Kitty: Olivia Benson

taylor swift cat

Taylor Swift got a new kitty, and guess what she named her?

Olivia Benson, as in Mariska Hargitay’s character on Law and Order.

The tiny white cat sits on Swift’s lap in an Instagram photo with the caption, “Meet Olivia Benson.”

Apparently Taylor Swift has been a fan of the popular crime television series for years. “I sit in my apartment and watch hours of that show,” she said in an interview with Teen Vogue a few years ago.

Mariska Hargitay has yet to comment on the name choice.

Olivia is Taylor Swift’s second cat. Her first feline friend is named after Ellen Pompeo’s Grey’s Anatomy character Meredith Grey. She’s a Scottish Fold cat who’s “friendly and fun and she’s perfect for the road because she doesn’t ever get freaked out,” Swift said in an interview with Us Weekly. “She’s awesome. She’s like one of those cats that give cats a good name. She doesn’t hide under furniture and get weird around people.”

I think Olivia is adorbs!
