Our favorite Canadian drama actress, Rachel McAdams, is pregnant with her first child!
News of the broke pregnancy on Thursday, and I am so happy for her!
As most probably do, I’ve loved pretty much loved every film I’ve seen starring Rachel McAdams. I think my favorite film she’s starred in would have to be The Time Traveler’s Wife, in which she played Clare Abshire alongside Eric Bana’s character Henry DeTamble.
In light of this baby news, I’ve decided to feature some fan art I found of the actress on Deviant Art by k-dezign. It appears to be inspired by a still of her character Kay Nesbitt in the film Married Life, which takes place in 1949.
I think this black and white sketch captures her essence perfectly. K-design definitely got her on her good side!

The day that fans of the Marvel Universe have been waiting for is finally here! Black Panther is officially in theaters today, guys!
I am totally going to see it when the theater clears out of all the people that cannot wait to see it this weekend. Trying to be patient until the end of February is going to be hard, but I’m gonna do it.
I’m most excited to see Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia in the film. I found this really cool fan art of Nakia on Deviant Art while looking for something to feature on this week’s Fan Art Fridays.
Created by Cara Stratton (Erynnia on Deviant Art), the fan art is inspired by this photo of Nakia and Shuri (played by Letitia Wright). I love how Lupita Nyongo’s cheekbones shine through. Contour. On. Fleek.

The last installment of the Fifty Shades series came out in theaters this weekend, basically revving up everyone’s Valentine’s Day yet again.
Although I haven’t seen any of the movies yet, I have read the trilogy and fully intend to read Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey As Told by Christian sometime this year.
I’m pretty sure the film adaptation is very racy (it would be a waste if it weren’t, right?) and I kind of don’t want to watch them alone so I’m still waiting for the perfect moment to watch them.
Zipcy, an illustrator I recently found on Instagram posted some fan art of the film this morning, so I couldn’t resist featuring it on this week’s Fan Art Fridays. Inspired by the official movie poster for Fifty Shades Freed, the fan art features Ana and Christian Grey getting ready to do something hella raunchy!
I love how Zipcy turned this black and
white grey poster into full color. It totally gives the image life, especially with the added the flowers in the right corner.

Today is February 2, aka Groundhog Day, and, as usual, the groundhogs are not in consensus.
Punxatawney Phil in Pennsylvania saw his shadow, predicting we’ll have six more weeks of winter. Meanwhile, Staten Island Chuck here in New York City says spring is fast approaching. And then General Beauregard Lee in Georgia went and ruined the odds with his prediction that winter is definitely sticking around for a bit.
Once the winter is gone by May, I’ll be able to deal.
A few theaters in New York are showing the 1972 film Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray as Phil Connors this weekend to coincide with this yearly meteorological madness. I also found this fun watercolor inspired by the film on Etsy, painted by andyrama. The watercolor depicts the scene in the film where the groundhog takes the wheel during a car chase.
I don’t care how good you are at predicting the weather, buddy. I’m not letting a groundhog drive a car that I’m sitting in, much less during a car chase. That’s just not gonna fly with me.

Today I found out that Hank Green, brother of John Green, has a book coming out in the fall of 2018!
Full disclosure: I have never read any of John Green’s books, but I plan to at least read Paper Towns this year. Maybe I’ll even buy Hank Green’s book, titled An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, which will be released on September 25, 2018.
In honor of this awesome literary news, I’ve decided to feature this pencil sketch of Hank Green by Ariana Filippini (CaptnArrri) on Deviant Art. The hair is so spot on. His facial expression is also quite accurate.

Fan Art Fridays will return next week!
BØRNS released his new album Blue Madonna today, and I absolutely love it.
It’s got that smooth, laid-back grooviness I’ve come to really enjoy about his music. The album features Lana del Rey on “God Save Our Young Blood” and the title track “Blue Madonna.”
My faves on the album are “Sweet Dreams”, “Iceberg”, “Second Night of Summer”, and “Tension (Interlude)”, the latter being my number one favorite track on Blue Madonna.
In celebration of Blue Madonna, I’ve decided to feature this fun piece of fan art of BØRNS that I found on Tumblr by Erin Young. It’s an oil on canvas painting that depicts the singer with pink hair wearing a floral top and sunglasses that suit him perfectly.
