Today is February 2, aka Groundhog Day, and, as usual, the groundhogs are not in consensus.
Punxatawney Phil in Pennsylvania saw his shadow, predicting we’ll have six more weeks of winter. Meanwhile, Staten Island Chuck here in New York City says spring is fast approaching. And then General Beauregard Lee in Georgia went and ruined the odds with his prediction that winter is definitely sticking around for a bit.
Once the winter is gone by May, I’ll be able to deal.
A few theaters in New York are showing the 1972 film Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray as Phil Connors this weekend to coincide with this yearly meteorological madness. I also found this fun watercolor inspired by the film on Etsy, painted by andyrama. The watercolor depicts the scene in the film where the groundhog takes the wheel during a car chase.
I don’t care how good you are at predicting the weather, buddy. I’m not letting a groundhog drive a car that I’m sitting in, much less during a car chase. That’s just not gonna fly with me.

I’ve been participating in several holiday activities (parties, decorating, etc.) this week, so I figured I’d take some down time on this snowy Friday night to catch the Christmas episode of Bob’s Burgers.
Titled “The Bleakening: Parts 1 & 2,” the episode has no shortage of funny one-liners from Gene Belcher and crazy ideas from Linda.
The latter is basically the premise of the episode. I mean, I’m halfway through the episode and I’m still trying to figure out in what world it’s okay to mutilate a Christmas tree. I’m sure that automatically qualifies you for bad holiday ju-ju, Linda!
This Friday we’re celebrating Linda’s quirky personality with some fan art I found of the character on Jamie Owen‘s Etsy store, Digiarttree. It features a drawing of a happy Linda over what looks like a page from a dictionary with the caption “I’ve only had half of four bottles of wine,” taken from another holiday episode “An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal”.
If you’ve got a Linda fan in your life, this fan art would make a great Christmas gift. Digiarttree also has fan art of Gene, Tina, Louise, and Bob!

Mindy Kaling turned 37 today. Gosh, I hope I look as good as her when I’m that age!
In honor of her birthday, I’ve decided to feature this watercolor created by Liana Kangas Neff, inspired by a line from The Mindy Project where Mindy says, “I eat cereal out of wine glasses.”
I kind of want to buy this now.
You can get it for yourself over on Etsy, and be sure to check out the rest of Liana Kangas Neff’s art here.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I stayed up last night watching Elf and felt obliged to post fan art from the movie because today’s Fan Art Fridays falls on Christmas!
This piece of fan art was done by illustrator Jim McHugh. I just love how cartoon-ish Buddy and Jovie look up a the North Pole. Jovie really looks like Zooey!
If you like this Elf fan art so much that you wish you could hang it in your room, then, you’re in luck because you can! Order the art from mcillustrator on Etsy with an added quote from the movie.
