Gallery Mondays: “London Calling” by Nina Edwards

nina edwards metropolitan miss garment district art

On my way to work over the last few weeks, I’ve had the delight of walking passed Nina EdwardsMetropolitan Fashion exhibit in the Garment District’s Space for Public Art.

The exhibit features fashionable women in major cities painted in watercolor. My favorite of the exhibit is “London Calling.”

From Big Ben in the backdrop to the outfit this blondie is wearing, the watercolor oozes with wanderlust vibes. I absolutely love the floral jacket she’s wearing!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Cheryl Cole in London

Cheryl Cole in London with Liam Payne

So now we’re in this phase of transitioning from winter to spring, which means the weather doesn’t really know what to do with itself. That also means our wardrobes have to keep up.

Cheryl Cole found an interesting solution while on a date with Liam Payne to Salmontini restaurant in London. She wore a black jumpsuit with a fur coat and chunky gold heels, mixing a warm cover-up with some spring wear.

I really love the way she draped the coat around her arms, making her look all relaxed and super stylish!

Kate Moss at Bella Freud Store Launch

Kate Moss made biker-girl chic look classic with a tailcoat tuxedo at the Bella Freud Store Launch in London last week. She topped off the look with a quilted purse and some red lipstick.

The eclectic nature of this look is something that I don’t think I could ever pull off myself. I love fringe tassel anything, though, and those boots are definitely going on my Christmas list!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Tamara Ecclestone in London

Tamara Ecclestone in London

Tamara Ecclestone was the crème de la crème earlier this week in London in a cream colored cashmere coat paired with an ivory sweater. She makes late fall fashion look super fun with the sassy little mini skirt and ankle boots she wore to finish the look.

I’ve never been daring enough to wear white outerwear. I just recently bought a white cardigan from Forever 21, and every time I eat while wearing it I cringe incessantly. There’s no telling what I’d do if I were wearing Tamara’s cream ensemble.

Nonetheless, she looks gorgeous, and is inspiring fashionistas to go invest in that cream coat they’ve had their eyes on for weeks. You can find some of the original pieces (marked with *) that Tamara is wearing below (adorable child not included, sorry) and alternatives in case they sell out.

Coat:

1. Harrods, £2,580.00 ($3,917.28 USD)*

Maria Nichol’s Gift Box from Across the Pond

gift box

Back in 2013 when I first started my blog, I met British fashion and entertainment blogger Maria Nichol. Since then, we’ve become buddies, and even though I never met her in person, I think she’s super cool!

We decided to do a gift swap this year. I sent my box to her in October for her birthday, and she sent mine in time for Christmas!

She took the time to write a little note to put in the box before sending:

maria letter

The box came with some awesome goodies, including Cadbury milk chocolate, temporary tattoos, eyeshadow, cupcake mittens, fake nails and so much more!

Here are my three favorite things from Maria’s box:

1. Dancing Queen

She’s got some serious hip action going on there!

2. Posh Polish

Super excited to wear this for the holidays!

3. British Telephone Booth

I’ve always wanted one of these. I keep it on top of my nightstand next to my bed.

Bradley Cooper Works at Burger King for a Weekend

Turns out the hottie can flip it!

On Sunday, Bradley Cooper was spotted working a shift at Burger  King in Leicester Square, London. Why, you ask? To train for his upcoming role as a chef in the film, Adam Jones.

“Bradley was training alongside genuine Burger King staff,” a source told The Sun. “The aim was to learn the art of the flip, which he nailed fairly quickly. There was no real fanfare from him. You’d never know he was a big star by the way he spoke to people. He spent Sunday night learning the skills while the restaurant was open to the public and then filmed for most of the day on Monday.”

Those were some lucky little British Burger King customers!

Adam Jones, directed by John Wells, will also star 50 Shades of Grey male lead Jamie Dornan, Uma Thurman, Sienna Miller and Emma Thompson.

According to The Wrap, the film is about a big shot chef who returns to London in search of a third Michelin star after giving up his career for a few years.

Filming is set to be completed by the end of September.

I’m just mad that he wasn’t training for this role in NYC. Hmph.

Jennifer Lawrence Comforts Crying Fan at ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Premiere

jlaw

As if we didn’t already love Jennifer Lawrence to pieces, the Hunger Games actress stepped off the red carpet in London last night to comfort a crying fan.

Lawrence was in the middle of an interview outside the Odeon Leicester Square in London when she saw the young girl nearly bawling her eyes out in awe of her presence. She was dying to meet her Hunger Games heroine, and luckily, her dream came true.

In the video, JLaw is seen taking pictures with the little girl and signing autographs for her.

She went right back to the interview once the little girl was satisfied with her fifteen seconds of JLaw.

For those of you who didn’t notice, Jennifer Lawrence is sporting a new pixie cut hairdo.

Too many people are commenting on the similarities to Miley Cyrus’ hairstyle.

Pixie cut or long haired, Jennifer Lawrence is still the same sweet, kind hearted person we all know and love.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in the United States.

Nigella Lawson Choked by Husband at Restaurant in London

nigella lawson

While dining at a restaurant called Scott’s in Mayfair, Central London, celeb chef Nigella Lawson was choked by her multimillionaire husband Charles Saatchi.

Reports state that Saatchi reached his hand over the table and grabbed Lawson’s throat. A British newspaper got photos of the incident.

The people dining around them were frightened by the sight. One person said, “It was utterly shocking to watch. I have no doubt she was scared. It was horrific, really. She was very tearful and was constantly dabbing her eyes. Nigella was very, very upset. She had a real look of fear on her face. No man should do that to a woman. She raised her voice and got angry but at the same time was trying to calm him down, almost like you would try to calm down a child. The kiss was a strange thing. He was being intimidating, threatening. And yet she kissed him. She appeared to be a woman who loves him but was clearly unable to stop him being abusive, frightening and disrespectful to her.”

A waitress stated that Lawson looked “distraught and in tears.”

Interestingly, this incident occurred at the tables outside the restaurant—the ones on the sidewalk—and no one intervened.

Come on people! Jeez!

Nigella Lawson has not pressed charges.

The two have been married since 2003. I wonder what has been going on between them to cause such violent public acts.

This morning, British politician Nick Griffin joked about the incident on Twitter, writing, “If I had the opportunity to squeeze Nigella Lawson, her throat wouldn’t be my first choice.”

This is not something to joke about, Griffin.

Other celebs on Twitter responded to Griffin’s comment.

DJ LL Cool P tweeted, “how is “nick griffin” legal? how is that something that exists?”

Louise Lainton wrote, “Jesus Christ, I frigging hate sharing an island with people like Nick Griffin.”

Derek Knight said, “Nick Griffin reminds me of a 5 year old desperately saying the most offensive thing he can think of in the hope someone will pay attention.”

Munieb Raban also tweeted, “Well done Nick Griffin, reassuring the masses once again what an absolute moron you are.”

Moron indeed.

Charles Saatchi claims that, “About a week ago, [he and his wife] were sitting outside a restaurant having an intense debate about the children, and [he] held Nigella’s neck repeatedly while attempting to emphasize [his] point.

“There was no grip, it was a playful tiff. The pictures are horrific but give a far more drastic and violent impression of what took place. Nigella’s tears were because [they] both hate arguing, not because she had been hurt.

“[They] had made up by the time [they] were home. The paparazzi were congregated outside [their] house after the story broke yesterday morning, so [he] told Nigella to take the kids off till the dust settled.”

I don’t know how much truth lies in Saatchi’s claims, but the fact that he put his hands on his wife like that is unacceptable. If he could do something like that in public, who knows what he would do, or has done, behind closed doors!

If he needs anger management, he should get some. Soon. I don’t want to hear that he was trying to “emphasize” a point to his children and end up choking them to death instead.

Prince William and Kate’s Second Anniversary

Image

I remember Will and Kate’s wedding on April 29, 2011 at Westminister Abbey. I was a first year student at Bard Early College Queens at the time. I woke up at 6am to watch a portion of the wedding on ABC 7, then took a shower and watched some more as I ate my breakfast.

It was 7:25am—five minutes after I was supposed to have left for school.

But they hadn’t kissed yet.

So, naturally, I wanted to skip school. But my mother wasn’t having it.

I proceeded to grab my school bag and rush through the door. Then I realized I had forgotten my keys.

I ran back to get them, ran across the street and then remembered I left my retainer.

That was a pretty hectic spring morning for me.

Nonetheless, I made it to school on time. With 15 minutes to spare!

When I got home I saw pictures of the kiss, so it was all good.

Prince William and Kate celebrated their wedding anniversary on April 26th with a private dinner in London.

How cute!

The six months pregnant Kate Middleton will be ready to blossom in no time!

I cannot wait to see their lovely offspring this summer!

These two are my model couple. Even though my dad thinks it’s stupid, I have a photo of them on my dresser drawer, along with LIGHTS (Valerie Poxleitner), Demi Lovato, and a my best friend at graduation.

I love them as a couple, and I hope one day I can share a romance like their’s with the one that I love.

Happy Anniversary Will and Kate!
