6 Amazing Performances from the #AMAs2014

ama

ABC hosted three hours of non-stop, top-notch entertainment on Sunday evening at the American Music Awards show.

So. Much. Talent!

Every performer did such an amazing job that it was so hard to pick five favorites. So I chose six instead.

As usual, the ladies rocked our socks off with their chart topping hits. The guys did an okay job, but, girl power!

Here are my six favorite AMA 2014 perfomances:

1. Taylor Swift, “Blank Space”

Was that real fire?!

2. Sam Smith, “Only One” ft. ASAP Rocky

This song gets me every time! *sniffles*

3. Lorde, “Yellow Flicker Beat”

That lipstick smudge though!

4. Selena Gomez, “The Heart Wants What it Wants”

So emotional. Props for holding it together, girl.

5. Nicki Minaj ft. Skylar Grey, “Bed of Lies”

Beautiful ballad. Didn’t know she had it in her!

6. Jennifer Lopez “Booty” ft. Iggy Azalea

It wouldn’t have been much of a finale without the booty.

2014 People’s Choice Awards

2014-01-09_09-53-46-1

Last night, TV stars, movie stars and artists gathered at the Nokia Theatre to celebrate the best in entertainment, all decided on by the people, of course.

Hosts for the evening were Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs from Two Broke Girls. They both looked fabulous and did an amazing job.

The intro was set at the Williamsburg Diner from Two Broke Girls where some of the nominees were ordering food from Max and Caroline or paying their bill. Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory didn’t have enough money to tip Max and Caroline, so she gives them an invitation to host the People’s Choice Awards instead.

Since they are broke, they have no idea how the heck they are going to get to the show. Walter White (Bryan Cranston) from Breaking Bad takes the girls on a wild ride to Nokia Theatre, and they end up on the red carpet entrance to the show.

At the show, Beth complains about the fact that people think that she is actually a waitress in real life. From the audience, Brad Paisley then asks her for a “burger and flies,” getting tongue tied, and Heidi Klum does the same. Kat reminds Beth that they are not taking orders because aren’t actually waitresses and they need to host the show. Beth is entranced by Brad Paisley and insists that she needs to get him his order. Out come tons of waitresses dressed in uniforms just like Max and Caroline from Two Broke Girls. “Burgers and fries for everyone!” shouted Kat.

Here are some of the highlights of the evening:

1. When Justin Timberlake is announced “Favorite Pop Artist,” Ellen Degeneres begins to make her way onto the stage. She’s too much!

2. When Malin Åkerman and Shemar Moore played that game. “Bert and Ernie,” Malin began. Shemar took it all the way to “Ebony and Ivory.” Then he continued, “This is not a game. I don’t see any rings on those fingers. I’m part Canadian, you’re Canadian…” Umm…

3. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder joke about their relationship in their acceptance speech for “Best Chemistry.” Totally not awkward. I really wish  they were still dating! Ian even kissed her on the cheek at the end of the acceptance speech. They’re adorbs.

4. When Adam Sandler read the fake fan letter from Drew Barrymore. Too funny!

5. That awkward moment when Zac Efron realized he was having an awkward moment. Awks.

6. When Beth sang “The Hills Are Alive,” “Wrecking Ball,” “Before He Cheats,” and “Baby Got Back.” She even twerked a bit during the last number. Girl got moves!

8. Robert Downey Jr.’s acceptance speech. He stole the spotlight.

Best Performance:

OneRepublic, “Counting Stars”

I loved the electronic vibe in the first part of the song!

65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

Emmy Award Trophy

Emmy Award Trophy

Last night, television celebrated the best in the business. The Emmys are the most upscale awards show of the year. From the elegant dresses to the sophisticated bow ties, everyone cleans up extremely nicely for the biggest celebration of primetime television. I always enjoy watching the Emmys for its entertainment shock value.

I will begin the recap with the evening’s best dressed:

Best Dressed:

Top to Bottom: Carrie Underwood, Jim Parsons, Stephen Colbert, Alyson Hannigan, Ana Faris

Top to Bottom: Carrie Underwood, Jim Parsons, Stephen Colbert, Alyson Hannigan, Ana Faris

Top to Bottom: Tina Fey, Sofia Vergara, Robin Williams (and wife), Kaley Cuoco, Anna Gunn

Top to Bottom: Tina Fey, Sofia Vergara, Robin Williams (and wife), Kaley Cuoco, Anna Gunn

Tina Fey, 30 Rock: I love the rich royal blue color of this dress and the way it hugs her body. Simply gorgeous.

Robin Williams. The Crazy Ones: Robin Williams looked super dapper in a suit and white tie. It’s refreshing to see at least one man with a different colored tie, as this event is usually a black tie affair.

Sophia Vergara, Modern Family: Sophia Vergara was the Emmys “Lady in Red” this year. Rumor has it she wore Kmart underwear beneath this dress. No lo creo!

Kaley Cuoco, The Big Bang Theory: Kaley Cuoco is rocking this rich plum colored dress! The detailing is fabulous.

Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad: This dress is simply incredible. I would pay good money to wear this to a special event. The lace bodice is just gorgeous!

Carrie Underwood: This one shoulder dress looks great on Carrie. The print on the dress is also a nice touch.

Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory: I just love the bow tie on Jim Parsons. It adds to his science nerd personality!

Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report: You’ve gotta love this guy. I like the fact that he went with the pocket handkerchief accessory. I didn’t see too many guys with that this year.

Alyson Hannigan, How I Met Your Mother: This purple dress goes perfectly with her red hair. Great choice!

Anna Faris, Mom: I just love the simplicity of this yellow dress. The slit is also very sexy!

The Intro:

The Academy was especially lenient this year with host Neil Patrick Harris. The intro was hilarious.

The show began with Neil Patrick Harris trying to watch all of the primetime shows at once. As he sat in an igloo of television screens, he began to realize that the fictional television characters could see him. Things got critical when the judges from The X Factor and So You Think You Can Dance started to judge him for what he’s doing.

On stage, Harris decided to make a Paula Deen joke, referencing the new series Orange is the New Black. “Because, for Paula Deen,” he began, “orange is the new black. Not soon enough?”

I wonder if Paula Deen was watching…

As if Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t enough, Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch, Jimmy Fallon, and Conan O’Brien also found their way onto the stage.

It got really uncomfortable when Jane Lynch and Neil Patrick Harris started making LGBT jokes.

“I’ll show you how much of a woman I really am. Right now,” Lynch said.

“I don’t think I’d like that very much,” Harris cringed.

“Me neither,” joked Lynch.

Yeah…

Tina Fey and Amy Phoeler sat front row wearing 3D glasses and eating from large bowls of popcorn. When Harris asked what the 3D glasses were for, they said that they wanted to see him up close in case he decided to do a strip tease.

“That would be very degrading,” said Harris.

“No. We’d be very degrateful,” said Phoeler.

Those girls are something else.

And now, for the highlights of the 2013 Emmy Award show.

The Highlights:

1. Nurse Jackie start Merrit Wever’s acceptance speech: “Ok, I gotta go.” (Best acceptance speech ever, according to Neil Patrick Harris)

2. Emily and Zooey Deschanel award presentation: Modern Family‘s “Dad, to gay dad, to old dad.”

3.  Jonathan Winters Tribute by Robin Williams

4. Are John Ham and Alec Baldwin really Neil Patrick Harris’ biological parents?

5. Tony Hale flaunting Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ clutch underneath his arm while on stage.

6. When Neil Patrick Harris said, “Jimmy Kimmel is excited to be presenting this next award with them…I mean her.” (Referring to Sophia Vergara’s boobs)

7. When Jimmy Kimmel said, “Laughter is the best medicine,” and Sophia Vergara countered that by saying, “If you went to the doctor sick and he told you to laugh you could sue him.”

8. How I Met Your Mother “Excessive Hosting Disorder” Skit. Hilarious.

9. Cory Monteith Tribute by Jane Lynch

10. “The Number in the Middle of the Show.” I didn’t know Nathan Fillion and Sarah Silverman could dance!

11. When Diahann Carroll said, “All the men in this room are so beautiful. I’m so happy to be here with all of you!”

12. Jeff Daniel’s Acceptance Speech. He started it off with, “Well crap.”

13. When the microphone kept moving up and down during Jimmy Fallon’s award presentation.

14. The Amazing Choreographers Dance Number. The “Get Lucky” parts were awesome!

15. James Gandolfini Tribute by Edie Falco

Best Performance:

Carrie Underwood’s “Yesterday” Cover

That song is just amazing. Carrie did the song justice.

2013 Teen Choice Awards

teen choice

Award shows are the best. Celebrities get all dressed up and come together to celebrate their achievements in film, music, and other art forms. But the best part about the Teen Choice Awards is the fact that we get to choose who wins what—not The Academy, and not the Screenwriters Guild. The power lies in the hands of the millions of teens that vote for their favorites each year.

Teen Choice does things a little bit differently. Instead of having an actual trophy-like award, winners receive a Teen Choice surf board. They also break award show tradition by having a blue carpet instead of a red carpet.

I was very excited to find out that Lucy Hale and Darren Criss were hosting this years Teen Choice Awards.

Lucy Hale and Darren Criss

Lucy Hale and Darren Criss

I love the two of them to pieces! It was so cute the way they walked down the stairs together holding hands.

They both did such a great job hosting the show!

Before the main event, Teen Choice live streamed from the blue carpet with hosts Tim Kash and Taryn Brooks. The Teen Choice Awards isn’t much of an upscale award show, so there really is no need to arrive in extremely fancy attire. However, that doesn’t mean you should wear whatever. Here are the attendees that got it right:

Emblem3

Drew Chadwick (second from left), Emblem3

Drew Chadwick made dressing up a bit more casual with an open waistcoat and a button up shirt with the first few buttons undone. Nothing says laid back better than a few undone dress shirt buttons.

Melissa Benoist, Glee

Melissa Benoist, Glee

Melissa Benoist kept it simple with a floral strapless dress. I also love the braid in her hair. It’s a nice elegant touch.

shay mitchell

Shay Mitchell, Pretty Little Liars

Shay Mitchell jazzed up the blue carpet with a sexy black and white pant suit. It really frames her body well.

Holland Roden, Teen Wolf

Holland Roden, Teen Wolf

Holland Roden looked adorable in a bright yellow lace dress. I love the fact that the lace makes a small train at the back.

JWoww, Jersey Shore

JWoww, Jersey Shore

JWoww looked super hot in a sparkly strapless dress with a train extension. Her curls looked fabulous as well.

Nick Jonas, Jonas Brothers

Nick Jonas (third from left), Jonas Brothers

I love how Nick kept it super casual with black and white stripes and a leather jacket. In general, the Jonas Brothers have good fashion sense.

Lucy Hale, Pretty Little Liars and Darren Criss, Glee

Lucy Hale, Pretty Little Liars and Darren Criss, Glee

Our hosts Lucy Hale and Darren Criss changed outfits multiple times, but this is my favorite outfit for the both of them. Lucy looks super cute in this little white dress and red heels. Darren looks extremely dapper in that suit! Yum!

Lily Collins, Mortal Instruments

Lily Collins, Mortal Instruments

Lastly, my favorite outfit of the night, Lily Collins’ palm tree train dress. Oh my God I want this! I love how she didn’t overdo the palm trees. She calmed down the tropical party with a solid black top, which I love. A+, Lily!

And now for the highlights of TCA 2013:

1. Rebel Wilson’s wetsuit.

rebel wilson wet suit

Rebel thought it would be a good idea to wear a wetsuit to match the surf board award. She even realized how awkward it would be if she didn’t actually win her category during her acceptance speech.

2. When Darren Criss mentioned that Lucy Hale makes out with Ian Harding “on that show” sometimes. Super awkward!

3. Photobomber Adam Devine during Gabby Douglas and Logan Lerman’s acceptance speeches, and while Nina Dobrev and Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz, Big Bang Theory) announced an award.

4. When Lily Collins asked Max Schneider why he’s presenting an award for a category his show is in. Explanation: he didn’t think he had a chance of winning anyway.

5. Leah Michele’s acceptance speech:

6.  (Christopher) Ashton Kutcher’s acceptance speech: He’s right when he says that smart is sexy.

7. Bruno Mars’ acceptance speech: I could not stop laughing at this!

8. Twerking. Nuff said.

Best Performance of the Night:

Paramore, “Still Into You”

As much as I hate Hayley Williams’ new haircut, the performance was still great. I love the ballerinas! They each had different colored hair, ranging from green to yellow.

Here is the list of the TCA 2013 winners:
