#TWBT: Let’s Talk About boohoo’s Zendaya Edit

zendaya edit boohoo

Welcome to the first installment of #TWBT (The Whisper Box Talk) where I discuss happenings in the world of pop culture and entertainment!

As most boohoo shoppers probably did, I got a promotional email from the UK brand about The Zendaya Edit a few days ago. Some of you may already know this, but if you don’t I’ll make it explicitly known right now that I LOVE Zendaya Coleman’s style. It’s so eclectic and sometimes risky, which makes it so much fun to keep up with.

Needless to say, I clicked through to the edit immediately. I didn’t expect to be disappointed, and I definitely wasn’t.

While scrolling through the edit, I noticed many of the color schemes where quite subtle, with lots of white and yellow. There are some bold pieces in the edit with vibrant blues and colorful stripes, but for the most part, Zendaya seems to be going for a calm spring vibe with these pieces.

One of the most interesting ensembles from the photoshoot Zendaya did for this edit is the stripe satin ruffle maxi dress in red and white. She pairs the sweet dress with a pair of robust sneakers, which just goes to show how much of a risk taker the actress is with her fashion choices. She does the same with a pastel blue maxi dress of similar style.

I think my favorite piece from the edit by far is the striped maxi duster coat, not only because I’d totally splurge to buy it, but because I think it truly embodies Zendaya’s fierce and unapologetic style.

Even Paris Hilton is rocking it!

I also wouldn’t mind getting cozy in this pink sweater or going sporty chic in this blue bodycon dress with orange and yellow stripes.

So far, the edit has received complaints for not having plus sizes. It appears the plus sizes sold out first and will be restocked, according to boohoo. Regardless, I don’t think Zendaya should have to choose clothing for an edit that she can’t personally model herself, as she isn’t plus sized.

Maybe boohoo will get a plus sized actress or musician for their summer edit?

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Annalise Keating in Scandal/HTGAWM Crossover

Annalise Keating, Scandal, “Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself” HTGAWM crossover

Needless to say, the Scandal/How to Get Away With Murder crossover episodes were freaking stellar last week during TGIT. In addition to the plot, the Scandal half of the crossover, “Allow me to Reintroduce Myself,” featured some great winter fashion from Annalise (Viola Davis).

At the end of the episode, Annalise is walking down the courthouse steps with Olivia Pope wearing this gorgeous yellow wool trench coat. She paired the coat with a dark brown designer handbag, as the women of Shondaland usually do.

This is my favorite shade of yellow so I basically went nuts when I saw Annalise in this coat!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Ruth Wilson @ 71st BAFTAs

Ruth Wilson 2018 BAFTA award show fashion

Over the weekend, celebrities broke out their best black award show attire for the 71st BAFTAs at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Ruth Wilson caught my attention with a super sophisticated Dior tuxedo suit, which I absolutely LOVE.

The actress paired the tuxedo suit with a embellished cream-colored sandals and a red lip, keeping with the polished yet fun award show vibe.

I’m totally in the market for a tuxedo suit for this upcoming spring season. I cannot get over how amazing the straight leg pant looks on Ruth Wilson!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Charlotte McKinney in LA

Charlotte McKinney style fashion in Los Angeles

Charlotte McKinney was spotted on the streets of Los Angeles looking head to toe gorgeous in red and white.

The model wore a crisp white blouse with a pair of shiny dark red leggings and tan suede pumps. She carried a small red bag in hand as well.

Notice how Charlotte McKinney is wearing that white blouse. Like, damn, girl. If you got it, flaunt it.

I love the shininess of the leggings. They really add a different texture to the outfit and amp up the wow factor!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Miley Cyrus @ MusiCares Pre-Grammy 2018 Event

Miley Cyrus fashion, Pre-Grammy MusiCares Person Of The Year 2018

Even before the 2018 Grammy Awards on Sunday, celebrities were bringing out their best looks, one of them being Miley Cyrus.

It really is refreshing to see her back to her old self again!

The singer took the stage at the Pre-Grammy MusiCares Person Of The Year show in NYC last week to honor Fleetwood Mac with “Landslide” while wearing an amazing black sparkly ensemble. At first I thought it was a jumpsuit, but it appears to be a separate long sleeved blouse and pant outfit, custom made by August Getty Atelier.

I love how polished and put together Miley looks in this outfit. The plain black color against the sparkles make for a  freaking fabulous look without appearing too overdone. I’m a huge fan of fun outfits like this one.

FashionMia Review

*SPONSORED

fashionmia review
*This post is sponsored by FashionMia. I received these items complimentary for review.

I’ve worked with a handful of brands through this blog over the last three years and never would I have imagined the ridiculousness that ensued while working with FashionMia.

FashionMia reached out to me in November 2017 about reviewing their clothing on my blog.

I was given a $50 credit to pick out a few items I liked from the site for this review. I ended up choosing four items.

I didn’t receive anything from the company until the beginning of January. It was the holiday season, so I wasn’t too peeved about it taking so long to arrive from China to New York.

But then I realized one of the four items—a burgundy blazer—wasn’t in the package I received. I contacted FashionMia to see what was up, and they said the notification system didn’t send me an email saying the item was out of stock, which would explain why it didn’t ship.

FashionMia decided to let me choose another item in place of the blazer, so I opted for a green dress. I asked if I could wait until the green dress arrived to write and film the YouTube video for my clothing review. They said yes, and assured me the dress would ship immediately. At the end of January, I got another email asking if I could post my review without having received my complete order. I was also told the green dress is out of stock.

Absolute insanity.

Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be ordering from FashionMia ever again.

Here’s a written review of the items I did receive:

Blouse: I love the light fabric and bird print on this blouse. It’s a super easy piece to match with a pair of jeans, and it’s very colorful without being too over-the-top.

Clutch Bag: I’m well aware that I shouldn’t overload this clutch bag with too many things because it might break, so I’m fine with the light material of this bag. I probably won’t use the strap much. Overall, this clutch is perfect for those who don’t need to carry too much around while on a night out. I do wish that the strap clasps weren’t so tedious to remove.

Dress: I’m not happy with the way this dress fits. The mock neck has stretched out a bit after trying on the dress twice. The chest area has an awkward fold that isn’t flattering.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Zoey in ‘Grown-ish’ Episode “Starboy”

Zoey, Grown-ish Ep. Starboy fashion outfit

I am absolutely loving Zoey Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi, on Freeform’s Grown-ish!

Last week’s episode, “Starboy,” featured a variety of amazing fashion and hairstyles from Zoey. The outfit she wore in the cafe scene was my favorite.

Her hair was combed in an intricately designed pony tail, paired with a vertical black and white striped sweater and denim jeans.

Totally comfy college style, I’ll say.

This is the perfect outfit for mid-winter weather. I live for tossing on a quick sweater with dark pants to head off to work some days.

See below for the original sweater (almost sold out on both store links) and a few other items inspired by the look.

Be sure to catch Grown-ish tonight on Freeform at 8pm EST!

ciara fashion rockin nye party 2018

It’s 2018!

Ciara hosted the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party on ABC over in Los Angeles wearing the most classy attire!

Even though she was three hours behind, Ciara was ten steps ahead in a black and white shift dress paired with pointed toe lace up boots.

I love how effortless this look is. It basically screams, I came to party but I’m really just here for the countdown and the drinks.

Also, how awesome are the shoulders on that dress?

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Jessica Biel in Beverly Hills

Jessica Biel in Beverly Hills fashionJessica Biel looked super fall chic last week in Beverly Hills wearing a black floral print dress and burgundy leather jacket.

She paired the look with burgundy lace up ankle boots, which I think really differentiate this from a spring look.

I love the way she pulls out the pink tones of the dress with the burgundy jacket and boots. The deep color goes well with the soft florals.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at LAX

Who said fall was strictly for leaves?

Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was spotted this week at LAX rocking the most amazing pair of velvet ankle booties I’ve ever seen! The velvet booties were black with a vibrant floral print. She paired the boots with a cozy white wrap coat and a black designer tote bag.

I don’t know what it is about velvet this season, but these boots are to die for! I love how the red rose just pops against the black background mixed with the green and blue plant prints.

Sadly, the original boots are sold out (not surprising!) but see below for a few similar options, as well as other pieces inspired by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s look!
