Gallery Mondays: Chelsea Guitars

A couple of weeks ago, I walked past Chelsea Guitars and saw this awesome sculpture of a woman sitting outside the shop with a mini guitar in hand.

It took me a while to realize this woman is Marilyn Monroe. Boy, I’m slow sometimes!

Marilyn Monoe is wearing her infamous white dress from Seven Year Itch, the top of which is covered with one of the Chelsea Guitars Coat of Arms tee shits. So clever.

I’m not a guitar player, but I would have totally went inside if I were. Chelsea Guitars seems like a really cool shop!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Lady Gaga’s 73rd Golden Globes Look

Wardrobe Wednesdays- Lady Gaga 73rd Golden Globes

You can’t blame Leonardo DiCaprio for flinching like that at the 73rd Golden Globes on Sunday after seeing Lady Gaga’s ginormous hourglass hips sashay passed him.

I mean, come on—they look like 18th century side hoops turned pillow cushions!

Regardless, Lady Gaga looked stunningly vintage in a black off-the-shoulder dress featuring a sweetheart neckline and train. The dress was custom made for the Lady by Versace.

Her Neil Lane jewels and platinum blonde hair completed the Marilyn Monroe look. The cuff bracelets she wore have a very classy rocker-punk vibe to them.

I love the way she mixed vintage and modern to make this look her own. Below are some items similar to what she wore that Sunday night, and should you dare to recreate the hourglass hips, I suggest an actual pair of side hoops for the occasion.

Dress:

1. DresSale, $127.99

2. ASOS, $157.38

This will always be the way we remember Marilyn Monroe–standing over a subway grate in a white cocktail dress for that scene in the film 1955 film The Seven Year Itch.

This lovely bronze sculpture was create by Seward Johnson. There are tons of others like this one currently in the Garment District of NYC.

If you’re in the area, definitely check them out! They’re so lifelike!
