Wardrobe Wednesdays: Alessandra Ambrosio in L.A.

Alessandra Ambrosio in L.A.

As if I didn’t miss California enough already, I ended up choosing to feature the tie dye shirt dress Alessandra Ambrosio wore in L.A. this week for Wardrobe Wednesdays.

I love how this is a quick and casual outfit that you can toss on in like 20 minutes. The leopard print mirror sunglasses make really tie in the blue aquatic island feel of the look as well.

For those of us in chillier weather right now (such as myself), I’d add a pair of jeans and swap the sandals for tan booties.

Below are the original pieces (marked with *) and an alternative for each in case they run out of stock.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Cara Delevingne at the 2015 MTV VMAs

cara delevingne mtv vma 2015

It’s only right that the stars wear stars…

The MTV VMA red carpet saw so many great outfits, Cara Delevingne’s being no exception. Just look at how she’s working this beaded star pattern mini-dress!

What I like most about this dress is the fact that it looks appropriate for an upscale award show after party without trying too hard. I bet the disco ball and the lights at the VMA after party lit Cara Delevingne up in this dress like no tomorrow.

The original dress and heels are still available (who knows for how long) and are marked below with an *. An alternate dress and shoes are listed below as well:

Dior Homme – The Film featuring Robert Pattinson

Three things will be on my mind all day today: Robert Pattinson, Camille Rowe, and DIOR.

Robert Pattinson and French model Camille Rowe in the Dior Homme Fragrance Film

If you haven’t already heard, Robert Pattinson of the Twilight Saga is the new face of Dior Homme.

The official fragrance short film was released this weekend, and I don’t think I’ll be able to peel my eyes away from it for a while.

I think I’ve watched it about seven times in the past half hour alone. It’s just that amazing.

The black and white short film lasts just over a minute. Meaning if you keep watching it over and over again, this won’t be taking up too much of your time…

Right?

WRONG.

Dior leaves a link at the bottom corner of the video, leading viewers to the 1:46 uncensored directors cut.

Still think its not too much time?

Think again. You’re going to be tempted to click a new link on this directors cut, taking you to a behind the scenes video, and after that the link to the interview with Mr. Pattinson about the Dior Homme fragrance.

I’m not complaining. This is a lovely piece of work that director Romain Gavras has decided to share with the world.

I love the elegant sophistication of the romance in this short fragrance film commercial. It’s very raw, very real, and very impulsive. From the moment Pattinson walks into that dressing room with all those burlesque dancers, you can feel the sexual tension between he and Camille Rowe.

My favorite parts of the official film are the scene where Pattinson and Rowe are kissing under water and the scene where he chases her from a rooftop as she runs on street level.

In the directors cut, I realize that there was supposed to be an adorable little dance scene between Pattinson and Rowe in a French restaurant. I love the way Camille Rowe acts like a child, taking bites of food from strangers’ plates and eating it as she runs to the dance floor with Rob.

The music for this commercial happens to be “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin.

The part where he sings “I’m gonna send you back to schoolin’,” pretty much took this whole sexy French rendezvous to a new level. Brilliant song choice.

The interview with Robert Pattinson was particularly interesting to me.

And no, not only because his British accent is deteriorating (how sad though!), but because he actually had quite the intriguing commentary.

Rob mentions director Romain Gavras’ violent style, and how working with him is a pleasant change of scene from the acting gigs he’s known for.

I love this comment in particular:

“The Dior Homme man is someone who is just a little bit wild. […] He does whatever he wants. He’s a bit of a free spirit, not really scared of anything. He can kind of be whoever he wants to be at anytime.”

I don’t know, ladies and gentleman. What do we think of the Dior Homme man?

Enjoy Garvas’ creation in all its tension and sophistication, and be sure to watch the interview with the new face of Dior Homme.

Strict Dress Codes on the Red Carpet

Showing off too much skin is a common 21st century problem. CBS is trying to do something to stop this problem at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards—for the duration of the show at least.

In the past there have been way too many females showing up to the red carpet half dressed. Yes, half dressed, because there is no way they finished putting all their clothes on. So for Sunday’s Grammy Award Show, no breasts, no butts, and no see-through clothing. To be exact, CBS asks that all “buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered.” They also request that all attendees make sure they do not arrive in see-through clothing and state that “thong type costumes are problematic.” Some are blaming Rihanna’s obscene sense of style at last year’s show for this ban.

Why would anyone want to feel so uncomfortable at a televised event? The red carpet wardrobe malfunctions are terribly embarrassing, and could have been avoided had these women chosen to cover up a bit more.

Here are a few of the most popular red carpet wardrobe malfunctions.

wardrobe malfunctions

1. Anna Faris:

In May 2012, Anna Faris flashed the crowd at the premiere of The Dictator in London.  She wore a blood red low cut dress. The slit of this dress runs way too high. Anyone ever hear of a needle and thread?! Fortunately, Faris, unlike many other females, was wearing a pair of undies. Close one, Anna.

2. Melody Thornton:

Former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton really succeeded in showing off her body in that dress during the Elle Women in Music event in April 2012. The material of this dress is completely see-through! How and why did her publicist let her walk out onto the red carpet like this?! Was the lighting in her dressing room too poor to allow her to access the situation of this outfit? Have some class Ms. Thornton!

3. Emma Watson:

Alright. Sashay, but don’t lift with the hands!! Oh, no!! Emma?! Didn’t they teach you how to present yourself as a proper lady in England? This little mishap occurred at the 2009 Harry Potter premiere. Thankfully, she too wore underwear.

4. Katherine Heigl:

Betcha didn’t recognize her as a brunette!! However, that does not hide the fact that her left boob almost fell out of her dress on stage at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas in March 2010. The strap of her scarlett dress slipped off while accepting an award on live television! Forget The Scarlett Letter. Five stars for The Scarlett Ta-ta!

5. Micaela Schaefer:

I don’t know what she was trying to prove by showing up to the May 2012 premiere of Men in Black 3 in an outfit like that. It seems as if Micaela got into the wrong limo and ended up on the red carpet instead of the strip club! Apparently the dress was made of VHS tape. Very creative, Micaela, but also very slutty.

Interestingly, none of these extremely embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions happen to men. What’s going on ladies?! Get it together and wear decent, form fitting, elegant clothing!

Who do you think will rebel against the CBS Grammy’s dress code Sunday night?
