I cannot believe that Johnny Depp is 51 today!
The actor has accomplished so much thus far, including getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and winning a Golden Globe for his performance in Sweeny Rodd.
Whenever I think of Johnny Depp, I remember the all of the crazy character transformations he’s gone through over the years. With each new film, I wonder how he made it out of the dressing room without having a heart attack after seeing himself in the mirror!
Thankfully, my all-time favorite film of his is Rum Diary, in which he appears as his normal self.
However, in honor of his birthday today, how about we take a trip down memory lane and marvel over the amazing masterpieces the makeup artists have created out of Johnny Depp?
1. Edward Scissorhands, 1990
In this Tim Burton film, Johnny Depp plays a man with scissors for hands. He becomes the town hairdresser. It makes no sense to me how he could have such unruly hair with that profession.
2. Pirates of the Caribbean Series, 2003, 2006, 2007, & 2011
Johnny Depp plays Captian Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, one of his most famous roles. I think he was born to be a pirate.
3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2005
I honestly wouldn’t have known that Willy Wonka was played by Johnny Depp in this film if he wasn’t credited as a lead actor. They cover every trace of Native American on this man’s face with white powder. And what is up with this haircut?!
4. Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, 2007
Tim Burton must have really wanted Johnny Depp to be a hairdresser in another life. Here he plays an evil barber whose real name is Benjamin Barker. Definitely loving the white streak.
5. Alice in Wonderland, 2010
How much money do you have to pay a man to let you do this to his face? They went all out for Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter look—green eyes and all.
I can’t wait to see what the makeup artists have in store for Mr. Depp next.
Happy 51st birthday, Johnny!
