Wreck This Tuesdays: 5

It’s Tuesday!

I have had a very long and very stressful day that began with me missing an interview for a project and ended with me accidentally getting off a train in the Bronx instead of Manhattan.

-_________________-

Anyway, let’s get to it with this week’s pages for Wreck This Tuesdays:

Hair Drawing

This page called for some hair art, so instead of making myself bald, I went searching for hair on my rug. I sit on an ottoman on top of said rug to get ready every morning, so there’s plenty of hairs chilling in that part of my room. I taped a few pieces here without really thinking about it to much and this is what that mess created. I don’t know what it is either.

Lucio Fontana Slits

Lucio Fontana was an Italian painter who was born in Argentina. He was famous for making art that featured multiple slits or slashes.

I don’t think I did too badly here. I made my slits using a pair of scissors. Since I didn’t want to make the slits go through the to the other page, I didn’t press as hard as I could have, but still, not bad.

Coloring Over Thoughts

For this page, I was prompted to write down some thoughts and color on top of them. I’m assuming the color was supposed to make the thoughts unreadable, and therefore private, but we all know I can’t press down hard while shading. I wrote really sloppy anyway, so I doubt anyone will be able to tell what was actually written. I wrote in pencil, and the color I chose to cover this page with is pink, but it looks a bit red in the photo.

See you next week with some more pages!

Wreck This Tuesdays: 4

Okay, so I’m not proud of the fact that I haven’t done a Wreck This Journal post in over two weeks. Life got in the way.

Instead of three pages, here are four to make up for my slacking off on these (please disregard my chipped nail polish!):

Spilling Things

This ended up being kind of funny. I dripped some zinfandel and then some cranberry juice on the page, which was great. It left a nice pinkish color on it. But then I decided to be Dana and dump water on it, washing away the color once dried.

Anyway, that was a fun little experiment.

Coloring

My favorite color is yellow and people say I look great in green, so I used those two colors in different shades for this page. I decided to color patches of each shade diagonally to make it a bit more interesting.

Newspaper

The prompt for this page was to stick a page from a newspaper on it and color the newspaper page in. I chose to color the page blue because I’m sad that I won’t be able to enjoy this summer music and movie series 😥

Tape

I had some old washi tape laying around, so when I saw this prompt to stick two pages together, I felt so glad I had something fun to do it with! The pattern on the tape is multicolored vertical lines, which give the white page some life.

And yes, I got hair stuck on the washi tape. Lol.

See you next week with three more wrecked pages!

Wreck This Tuesdays: 3

Last week, I promised you guys I would do some Wreck This Journal pages involving color-related wrecking. The below is the fulfillment of that promise, which I used both regular pencil and my colored pencils to complete.

Front & Back Jacket Flaps

So it seems we’re going backward here. I didn’t realize the back flap had a Wrecking This Journal Pledge on it. OOPS. Anyway, I filled that out for this week and also did the fun name exercises on the front flap. I might invest in a white gel pen or something to get the “Write your name in white” prompt to show more (it’s currently basically non-existent). I chose green for the “Write your name in a color you like” prompt even though my favorite color is yellow because I doubt the yellow would show properly. I do like green, though, just not as much as I like yellow. My favorite (and the most challenging) of these was writing my name backward. It took a lot of brain energy to get this done without messing up! Writing my name really tiny was also quite fun.

Coloring a Page Red

Fun fact: I like to shade things in lightly. I doubt shading lightly is a proper way to wreck (there goes my pledge), but I can’t bring myself to color this page any darker.

Scribbling on the Edges

This is my favorite prompt of all so far! I decided to write inspirational/uplifting words around the edges of my Wreck This Journal for my sake and the sake of anyone who sees it. I think it’s a nice little touch, especially on dreary days. The bottom says “Persevere,” the top says “Live & Love,” and the side says “Be Yourself & Be Confident.” I’ll admit, I smile a bit to myself every time I see my journal lying around.

See you next week with three more wrecked pages!
