Top 3 Fave Performances from ‘Wicked: One Wonderful Night’

I found out throught Instagram extremely last minute about the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC, which aired on November 6th. Thankfully, I had enough time to prepare some Pillsbury cookies and milk to watch with my husband.

Our dog, Coco, upset that we wouldn’t give her any cookies while we watched the Wicked special 😅

My husband is a huge fan of Wicked the musical, which I’ve never seen. I cannot wait to see Wicked: For Good in theatres! We’re going to wait until December so we don’t run into any sing-along fans. We really want to hear Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey sing on their own without other noise. Nothing against the fans who like to sing along, its just not for us!

Here are my faves from the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special:

1. “Popular,” performed by Ariana Grande (Glinda) with a special guest

Love that Ariana brought superfan Remington on stage for this. Super adorbs! I also laughed so hard at her trying carry the weight of both hers and Cynthia’s choreography, since little Remi was only prepped to respond “yes” and sit on the bed for the majority of this number. And the ponytail hair flip tutorial? PURE GOLD from both her and Remi!

2. “Defying Gravity,” performed by Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba)

I’m always so impressed with her vocal range and this performance was no exception. Was anyone else totally not expecting her to get launched into the air during this? The outfit is definitely going to make an appearance on Wardrobe Wednesdays soon!

3. “For Good,” performed by Ariana Grande (film Glinda), Cynthia Erivo (film Elphaba), Idina Menzel (muscial Elphaba) and Kristin Chenoweth (musical Glinda)

This one was a spoiler for the new film, which is why I think there is only a preview version of the performance on the official YouTube channel. Ariana got teary eyed in the full length version of the performance, which was so warranted. I love that they include the OG Broadway show characters in the film and promos for it. This is probably why the fans are respectful of the film adaptation!

*Honorable mention to “Dancing Through Life,” because all of the secondary cast wanted to be Prince Fiyero so badly. The only reason it’s not in my top three is because our darling Jonathan Bailey was only in the behind the scenes footage (hilarious stuff btw), not the actual performance in the special. I guess he was too busy being People’s 2025 Sexiest Man Alive to sing and dance for us on One Wonderful Night.

Side note: I Keep forgetting Shuffles by Pinterest exists and is perfect for digital junk journal spreads. Should I do more of these?
