Back in March I visited Galerie Perrotin with some friends to see Xavier Veilhan’s wooden Daft Punk sculptures. On the second floor was the Body and Matter: The Art of Kazuo Shiraga and Satoru Hoshino exhibit at the Dominique Lévy Gallery.
The abstract art in the exhibit looked much like the one above, some with varying colors. Apparently Japanese artist Kazuo Shiraga created the paintings by smearing his body through the paint on the canvas while wearing a winged-arm costume.
The way the paint dried on some parts of the canvas made this piece and some of the others look like lava, which I thought was pretty fascinating.
