Chromeo is back with some new music this year, starting with their new single “Come Alive” featuring Toro y Moi, a song from their upcoming album White Women.
The song features the standard funky synth chords that define Chromeo’s style. It’s a medium tempo dance tune that will most definitely make you let loose a bit after a long day at work.
I’m sure that’s exactly what they were going for.
For those of you who are familiar with Chromeo’s music videos, this one will come as no surprise to you. The “Come Alive” music video features sexy female mannequins that come to life.
At the beginning of the video, Dave 1 is waiting for what I would assume is his date for the night. He sits on the front of his car with a bouquet of roses, and when he gets a text message saying that his date can’t make it, he throws the flowers to the ground.
It’s a very dramatic moment. The fatal throw of those innocent flowers really hit home.
A few seconds later he is lured into a boutique by a store mannequin where Toro y Moi is the janitor, and P-Thugg is the security guard.
I won’t spoil it for you, but let’s just say that Dave 1 and Toro y Moi get a little bit too frisky with those mannequins. Thinking about it too much will make it seem really creepy. Just try to laugh about it!
The dancing was electro-funk perfection, as is the song in its entirety.
My only complaint is Toro y Moi’s hair. What is going on with that? Please cut it shorter!
Enjoy the music video!
