Rockaway Beach

Now that the Fourth of July festivities are over, and I can actually stay awake long enough to edit pics and video, here’s a glimpse of how I spent my holiday.

Yup. I hit the beach with my friends Kristell, Gina, and Niketa for Independence Day!!

Rockaway Beach is located in Far Rockaway. It’s not as nice as Miami Beach of course but its still pretty cool.

We expected the beach to be packed that day but surprisingly, at 12pm it wasn’t that full.

We left at around 4pm, when the tide was pretty much forcing us to move our stuff off the sand.

The birds fly really low at Rockaway Beach. Thankfully the seagulls were respectful enough to not poop on us.

The scariest part of the day was when a horseshoe crab got washed onto shore. The kids started playing with it and turning it over with sticks.

EW.

The shells at Rockaway Beach are really sharp, so be careful. The ones that are still in tact are quite lovely though.

We all had a great time at the beach on July 4th, 2013. I even became a mermaid for a bit! Haha!!

Gina and Kristell made me a mermaid. Fun.

As always I couldn’t forget you guys:

First of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Thanks!

    1. I usually write a short outline with 5-10 bullet points on the topic I plan to write about. If you don’t know what to write just write anything. Literally sit down with a blank document for 5 minutes and don’t stop typing, even if you have to type “um” a gazillion times. You’ll find something worth writing about when you try that stream of conscience exercise.
