I just spent an hour and a half sitting at my computer with a post-nasal drip (ugh, that time of the year again) trying to find something in my photo collection for this week’s Gallery Mondays. So, I came up with this small framed piece of art I found in the Treasure Chest at Compass Music and Arts Center in Vermont. The artist signature in the right corner looks like it says M. Hagel, but I’m not too sure.
I found this Saturday Evening Post-like over the summer on a short weekend getaway. The Treasure Chest is the center’s consignment shop. It’s basically a gold mine of decorative items such as paintings, ceramics, dolls and more.
I love the concerned look on the face of the kid who’s getting his ears checked by the nurse. It’s like a pleasant, pompous concern, coupled with a pair of hands folded in his lap.
I’m not sure what instrument the girl on the right is holding, but she’s clearly jazzed about it. The kid near the door seems to be holding his hand over his eye for an eye exam, but I can’t tell if he’s looking at an eye chart because the price of the frame is covering it.
Not bad for $2.
