Yesterday I went to visit Gantry Plaza State Park with my friend Kristell.
During senior year of high school back in May 2012, a trip to this very park was planned for Senior Skip Day.
But we were such good students that we didn’t go.
That and my rough draft in creative writing was being peer critiqued that day.
So about a year later we finally got to visit the park.

Its a very lovely park. Gantry is located in Long Island City, right along the East River, so you can see the buildings in the city from there.
The view was just breathtaking.
After strolling through the park for a while, we decided to try to find the East River Ferry.
We got lost and had to ask for directions. Twice.
So much for iPhone maps, eh?
In our defense, there was construction everywhere.

The $4 ferry ride from Gantry to 34th Street was short. The second level of the boat was so cool! We could see all of the Manhattan skyline from there. I was in awe.
If you’re ever in Long Island City looking for something touristy to do, this should be on your list. Take a trip to Gantry, enjoy the skyline, and then take the ferry into the city for some sightseeing.
Enjoy some footage from Gantry and the East River Ferry!
