Junk Journal Highlights: Tavola with Suzelle

My Sprout Social Arboretum peer mentorship meetings with Suzelle finally left the group chat!

I met Suzelle through Sprout Arboretum in 2024 and we became fast friends. When I met her, I was still working at my previous job and we kept in touch ever since.

When she told me she was going to be in NYC for a work trip this fall, I immediately agreed to join her for dinner! I picked Tavola, a spot I had been to years ago when I worked in publishing. I told her the sad story about how I always accidentally put my dessert to-go box in the fridge instead of the freezer, which I had done with Tavola’s delicious pistachio gelato in 2015.

Thankfully, I shared the pistachio dessert with Suzelle this time, so there were no leftovers to accidentally ruin.

The Tavola dessert I had half of 10 years ago before I accidentally putting the other half in the fridge instead of the freezer 😭

For dinner, I ordered the bolognese and Suzelle got the gnocchi or the orecchietti (Suzelle, if you’re reading this please remind me which one!).

The food was so good. I do think I prefer bolognese with sausage, however. Still was a great dinner and even better dessert!

I didn’t have much junk from the restaurant and we forgot to take a pic together, so I used a printable guest check, a print out of the menu, some photos of the food and an old DeCicco’s catering magazine page of a person grating cheese over pasta for the spread.

Hoping to see Suzelle again soon and get a pic together next time!
