Awards season is really turning out to be stellar this year.
Wonder Woman Gal Gadot appeared on the
red blue carpet for the Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 wearing a gorgeous metallic gray pleated Prada dress. The dress features a plunging neckline and a cute boho accent along the waist.
The Israeli actress took home the #SeeHer Award at the ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Her speech was quite inspiring.
See below for two dresses inspired by Gal Gadot’s Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 look and clips of her acceptance speech.
1. Bloomingdales, $265.00
2. Jet.com, $106.97
On this sunny Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I volunteered with City Year New York at Patrick Henry Prep (PS/IS 171 Manhattan) to paint this book cover of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars in one of the school’s stairwells for #MLKDayofService.
I was invited to help out with #MLKDayofService by my guy, David. He served with City Year in 2015-16.
As soon as I saw the outline for The Fault In Our Stars in the stairwell we would be working in, I immediately knew I wanted to work on it for the day. I haven’t read the book, but I love John Green, and yes, I’ve seen the movie adaptation.
Now, David and definitely are not Picassos, but I think we did a pretty good job with this. Some other books that were painted as murals in the stairwells included Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Maya Angelou’s I Know Where the Caged Bird Sings. Other community service projects for #MLKDayofService involved painting college pennants, putting together health and hygiene packages, and more.
I’m really happy that the students at PS/IS 171 will come back to school tomorrow to find inspiring artwork to look at throughout the day. I know I would have loved it as a kid.
Learn more about City Year, and check out NBC’s news video that features footage of the day’s volunteer work at PS/IS 171.
P.S.: David and I are in the auditorium scenes!
BØRNS released his new album Blue Madonna today, and I absolutely love it.
It’s got that smooth, laid-back grooviness I’ve come to really enjoy about his music. The album features Lana del Rey on “God Save Our Young Blood” and the title track “Blue Madonna.”
My faves on the album are “Sweet Dreams”, “Iceberg”, “Second Night of Summer”, and “Tension (Interlude)”, the latter being my number one favorite track on Blue Madonna.
In celebration of Blue Madonna, I’ve decided to feature this fun piece of fan art of BØRNS that I found on Tumblr by Erin Young. It’s an oil on canvas painting that depicts the singer with pink hair wearing a floral top and sunglasses that suit him perfectly.

The 2018 Golden Globes were freaking amazing on Sunday! As anticipated, almost all of the celebs in attendance wore black in solidarity with #MeToo and the Times Up movement.
So many well dressed celebrities showed up on the red carpet in Beverly Hills, California, but Shailene Woodley won me over with her Ralph Lauren Collection ensemble.
The actress wore a gorgeous black floor-length skirt with a belt and a houndstooth pattern turtle neck. The black skirt flows so nicely with the other pieces, and I love the houndstooth pattern on her so much! The fact that she didn’t go with a traditional gown for the ceremony really excited me.
See below for some pieces inspired by Shailene’s look!
1. Bloomingdale’s, $80.00
2. Unique Vintage, $58.00
3. Chicwish, $32.18
4. SheIn, $27.00
5. ASOS, $17.60
6. Avenue, $8.40
I can’t say 2017 ended too badly. Really, it could have been worse.
We had a couple of celebrity births during December 2017 and some amazing royal photo shoots to round out the year. I can’t complain.
Here are my favorites in pop culture and entertainment for the month of December:
Favorite News Articles
1. Dylan Sprouse is opening a bar in Brooklyn. Woo! Rounding up my friends for a girls night!
2. Mindy Kaling gave birth to her daughter Katherine! I cannot wait to see pics (and possibly find out who the father is).
3. TIME Magazine’s 2017 Person of the Year: The Silence Breakers. I love the symbolism in this cover with the woman who wanted to remain anonymous. Even before everyone found out why it was just her arm in the photo I knew she represented the ones who still can’t speak out.
4. Prince George and Princess Charlotte are the cutest little royals on earth. I just wanna pinch their little cheeks!
5. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement portraits. I am so hype because they’re getting married on the day before my birthday! BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER!
6. The Library of Congress is actually archiving all tweets from 2010 onward. This must be hella daunting.
1. “Opera” by BLOWSOM. Can he release a full length album and come to NYC in 2018? Thanks.
Last week on Wednesday, I took a Strong by Zumba class at the J. Hood Wright Recreation Center in Washington Heights. To say that I was sore the next day is an understatement (thank GOD the next day ended up being a snow day!).
When I walked into the room where the class would be held, I saw these really cool cut out pieces of art by the windows. One stood out to me the most—a dancer with a tambourine in hand and her arms in the air.
I think this piece really stood out to me because of the way she’s posed. I’ve always liked art that captures motion, and she looks effortless with her tambourine in one hand and her other hand hanging loosely over her head.
I have no clue who made this, but I wish I did because I’d love to give them credit for this beautiful piece!
Justin Timberlake has made our Friday with a new song and music video, “Filthy.” He also shared with us the tracklist for his upcoming album Man of the Woods.
I mean, it’s a pretty intense pop single. The video takes place at conference in Asia during the year 2028. One of the lyrics goes, “Put your filthy hands all over me.”
Excuse me, mister?
Anyway, in celebration of “Filthy”, I’ve decided to feature this amazing fan art of Justin Timberlake I found on Pixels by Chrisann Ellis. It features the singer sporting his signature smolder on a greeting card!
Check out “Filthy” below.
