So I’m going to finish out National Hispanic Heritage Month with one of my favorite Hispanic TV characters, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, played by Sofia Vergara, from Modern Family.
Both the actress and the character are Colombian, which is pretty convenient.
Gloria has such a colorful personality that it’s hard not to like her. From being an overprotective mother to her crazy temper, she’s one of those television characters you can’t easily forget.
Gloria is also known for being really loud, as portrayed in this fan art by katseartist on Deviant Art. She’s screaming for her husband, Jay, as she does regularly on the show. I can hear her voice just from looking at this cartoon version of Gloria.

Nicky Hilton is living the velvet dream.
She wore a seriously cozy looking ruby velvet blazer to the L.O.L. Surprise launch on Tuesday, and it’s giving me all the fall feels. After looking at the blazer for a while it kind of reminds me of a royal’s velvet robe!
Nicky Hilton paired the blazer with some skinny jeans and black pumps. I love the little bow detail on her pumps!
See below for the original blazer (marked with *) and a few other items inspired by the look.

September 2017 was pretty groovy.
Besides the fact that NYC weather refuses to fully transition to fall, September was pretty good in terms of pop culture and entertainment. The summer ended with a splash of great music, which I can never complain about. Also, the fall TV premieres did not disappoint.
Let’s get to my September 2017 favorites!

Last week I got invited to one of the preview dates for the new National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey in Times Square and it was amazing.
I love animals, and this experience just made me appreciate marine life so much more!
My favorite parts of the experience were the kelp forest exhibits. After the maze, there’s a really cool room of CGI sea lions that move around as you walk passed them. I took a few photos of them and Google Photos made a neat little GIF of it for me!
If you haven’t already gone to see National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey, I totally recommend it. It’s a really fun and interactive experience filled with 3D, CGI, and visual art elements.

Continuing on with Hispanic Heritage Month, for this week’s Fan Art Fridays we have the one and only Lin-Manuel Miranda!
The actor put out an amazing song today for Puerto Rico’s hurricane relief efforts called “Almost Like Praying,” which features a long list of fellow Latin American artists including Alex Lacamoire, John Leguizamo, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Moreno, Ednita Nazario, Joell Ortiz, Anthony Ramos, and Gina Rodriguez.
In light of this, I went on the hunt for some fan art of Lin-Manuel, and of course the majority of what I could find is Hamilton-related. I’m not complaining, though.
This black and white sketch is by Eleanor Orchard. She does a lot of sketches of K-Pop artists as well. I love how serious Lin-Manuel looks here.
See the original fan art on Tumblr and don’t forget to check out “Almost Like Praying”.
When it comes to laid back fall fashion, I think Olivia Munn is our girl.
The actress was seen walking her two adorable doggies in Vancouver a few days ago in the coziest looking tweed trench. She paired the look with a cute Batman crop top, Vans, and high waisted jeans.
I love the combination of patterns Olivia Munn mixes with the tweed and printed Vans. It gives the look an interesting depth without taking away from the relaxed nature of it.

1. Express, $248.00
2. Burberry, $1,595.00
3. Costume Patch, $5.47

5. Nordstrom, $109.95 *
6. Nordstrom Rack, $49.97
If you’ve seen my accessories collection, you’d know that I LOVE owls. I have an owl ring, several owl necklaces, an owl phone case…
The owl obsession is real.
So you can imagine back in fall 2015 while I was visiting the Getty Museum in Los Angeles how excited I got when I saw this adorable owl, part of the In Focus: Animalia exhibit.
A dye imbibition print, called “Jeweled Toad” is by Los Angeles based artist Hiro. The toad brooch was created by David Webb. I wasn’t able to take a photo of the original piece because there was no photography allowed in that particular exhibit, so the above photo is of promo poster outside of the hall. I have my ways.
Is it just me, or is this owl extra fluffy?! I just wanna reach out and ruffle its feathers!
I’d buy that toad brooch in a heartbeat (if it were affordable, and I doubt it is lol).
I just hope that brooch isn’t attached to the owl. That would be cruel.
