Fan Art Fridays: Meryl Streep

meryl streep fan art

Meryl Streep won the DeMille Award at the Golden Globes this year, and boy, was that one hell of an acceptance speech or what?!

I’ve loved Meryl in basically every movie I’ve seen her in, from Doubt to It’s Complicated. She’s timeless, and gives life to every character she plays.

In honor of her achievement, I’ve decided to feature this fan art of her from DeviantArt by Miko2660. She looks quite young in this piece of fan art, perhaps from the late ’70s. It was created using ArtStuido.

I love how she’s looking up in the piece, as if she’s in a state of utter bliss. Her hair also looks so wispy!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Viola Davis @ 74th Golden Globe Awards

viola-davis-74th-golden-globe-awards

Life gave Viola Davis some lemons, and from those lemons, we got a Golden Globes dress.

My mom and I could not take our eyes off that bright yellow dress Viola Davis wore to the 2017 Golden Globes! Yellow is my favorite color, so of course she won best dressed on my list.

She wore the dress with a simple white clutch bag. I love the one shoulder detail, which gives the gown an extra dash of sexy.

See below for some items inspired by this Golden Globes look!

Dress:

1. OASAP, $60.75

2. DresSale, $125.99

Clutch Bag:

3. Saks Fifth Avenue, $895.00

4. Nasty Gal, $48.00

Winter 2016-17 Calling Your Name Playlist

winter-1209851_960_720

So, this winter playlist is going to get a little weird.

I’ve been toying with the idea of making a playlist of songs named after people for a while. The only season it really fit in, to me, is winter.

You know how in movies there’s sometimes a girl in the forest during the winter shouting someone’s name into the void, hoping she’ll hear a response echoing back? That’s the kind of vibe I wanted to capture with this playlist.

Enjoy the 12 songs on this winter 2016-17 playlist!

1. Josephine (Alfa Mist Remix), RITUAL ft. Lisa Hannigan. Some serious sensuality going down right here.

2. Virginia Wolf, mAsis. For those lonely winter nights when you just want to be alone.

3. Genghis Khan, Miike Snow. Jealousy, anyone?

4. For Elise, Saint Motel. “You need a spark, a light in the dark, to get you out of your head and into your heart.”

5. Sweet Ophelia, Zella Day. Time for some deep reflection.

6. Stephen, Kesha. You better call her, Stephen. None of that 72 hours nonsense.

7. Roman, Housse de Raket. “What have you done?”

8. Ramona, Night Beds. This one’s easy on the ears.

9. Geronimo, Sheppard. I don’t recommend you jump into the waterfall. It’s cold, and that’s dangerous.

10. Jenny, the bird and the bee. “Where are you, Jenny? Don’t you know that I am calling on the telephone?”

11. Hey Maria, Klangkarussel. Here’s a cool little foot-tapping number.

12. Randy, Justice. “Get yourself together.”

Stay warm this winter!

Gallery Mondays: Winter Rabbit

We had our first official snow day of 2017 this weekend.

Not fun.

On my way to the N train last week, I walked by Chase bank on West 39th between Fashion Ave. and Broadway when I saw this cute winter rabbit on the window.

I just love how innocent and vulnerable he looks! The colors are so winter wonderland-ish, and the muscle texture of the rabbit makes him look super agile.

Did you guys enjoy the snow day? Let me know in the comments!

December Favorites: Nordstrom Rock, Furry Nails & Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year

dec-faves

I must say, 2016 didn’t end completely horribly after all.

I mean, yeah, Mariah Carey got the last of it during the final minutes of 2016 at the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party on live television, but that’s over and done with now. New year, new fiascos.

Let’s take a look back at all the awesome things that went down in the world of pop culture and entertainment for the month of December 2016.

Favorite News Articles

1. Nordtrom sold a rock in a pouch for $85. And it actually sold out. /facepalm

2. Furry nails became a thing during the holidays. Must have been fun feeling like the Grinch is giving you a shower every morning…

3. Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year is green. Kermit the Frog green. Evil Kermit memes, anyone?

Favorite Music

1. “Baretta Lake” by Teflon Sega ft. SAINt JHN. Sounds a bit like Night Beds, and I love it!

Fan Art Fridays: Happy Birthday, Rowan Atkinson!

mr bean fan art

Okay, so technically it’s Rowan Atkinson’s birthday, not Mr. Bean’s, but which name do we associate him with most?

I don’t know one person that doesn’t like Mr. Bean. He’s the type of character that makes you realize how silly life can be if you look at it from a different perspective.

I found this piece of fan art on Cereal Ink’s Twitter. It captures Mr. Bean’s essence perfectly, with the wide eyes and gullible facial expression.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Kristen Cavallari’s Grey Day

kristen-cavallaris-grey-day-style

Kristen Cavallari was a vision dressed head to toe in grey with splash of white on one of the last days of 2016.

She paired white pants with a long grey wool coat, grey sweater and grey suede tassel boots in a cute Instagram pic dated December 27th.

This is the perfect look for those winter days when you’re just feelin’ kinda grey. I don’t usually buy suede boots for the winter because the snow ruins them, but the tassels on Kristen’s are really making me want a pair!
