Wardrobe Wednesdays: Halle Bailey @ BET Awards 2016

Halle Bailey, BET Awards 2016

Ever since I heard the song “Red Lights” by Chloe x Halle a few weeks ago, I’ve been fascinated with the sister duo. Halle, the younger of the two, wore the coolest outfit to the BET Awards 2016 over the weekend.

She mixed vibrant red with black, white, and denim, achieving a very sophisticated yet laid back look. The tunic’s vertical stripes and length make it look as if she were wearing a dress, but the outfit gets a bit more playful once your eyes catch the ripped baggy boyfriend jeans and denim heels on the lower half.

Those are honestly the coolest heels I’ve ever seen!

Below are a few pieces similar to what Halle Bailey is wearing. Also, is it just me, or do they sound older than they look?

Tunic:

1. MatchesFashion.com, $257.00

2. StellaMax, $24.99

Jeans:

3. Soho Girl, $39.50

4. Urban Outfitters, $79.00

Heels:

5. Shoespie, $79.76

Gallery Mondays: Marcos Chin’s ‘Fulton Street, Beneath the Beautiful Blue’

marcos chin Fulton Street, Beneath the Beautiful Blue

I was riding the Q53 bus a few days ago when I saw illustrator Marcos Chin’s Fulton Street, Beneath the Beautiful Blue above the seats in front of the bus.

If you ride the NYC MTA subway, you’ve probably seen some of his other art, filled with interesting people and vibrant colors.

What I love the most about this one is the girl walking with a flower pot in hand. The way one of the flowers is sticking out of the pot makes it look like the gorgeous pink flower is actually a hair accessory. That had to be intentional, right?

Fan Art Fridays: Happy Birthday, Mindy Kaling!

Mindy Kaling turned 37 today. Gosh, I hope I look as good as her when I’m that age!

In honor of her birthday, I’ve decided to feature this watercolor created by Liana Kangas Neff, inspired by a line from The Mindy Project where Mindy says, “I eat cereal out of wine glasses.”

I kind of want to buy this now.

You can get it for yourself over on Etsy, and be sure to check out the rest of Liana Kangas Neff’s art here.

Maternity fashion is becoming quite enchanting.

Below are some pieces to help you pull off the look this summer!

1. ASOS, $203.00

2. ASOS, $73.00

Jacket:

3. Target, $29.99

Fan Art Fridays: Tess Holliday

This week we found out that Tess Holliday and her fiance Nick Holliday welcomed a baby boy named Bowie Juniper earlier this month!

I am so totally excited for them. They’re such a gorgeous family. Now all we need is for Tess and Nick to get married.

In celebration, I’ve chosen this wonderful piece of fan art by crimsonvermillion on DeviantArt. It’s an interesting watercolor-like image manipulation of one of Tess’ famous shots.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Lucy Liu @ 2016 Tony Awards

Lucy Liu, 2016 Tony Awards

The 2016 Tony Awards was hosted by James Corden this year, which was awesome. Equally awesome was Lucy Liu’s yellow gown on the red carpet.

She arrived wearing a plunging light yellow gown and a purple box clutch in hand. I love how they smoothed her hair out in the front before tucking it behind her ear for a fresh evening look.

Below are some similar items to Lucy Lui’s Tony Award night ensemble.

1. Maycool, $27.99

2. DHgate, $99.43

Clutch:

3. Perfect Handbags, £34.50 ($48.97 USD)
