Gallery Mondays: ‘Holding Out’ by Seward Johnson

holding out seward johnson

I hope this little old lady wasn’t waiting for a cab, because she’s got no free hands to flag one down!

Maybe she was waiting for a cab. That’s probably why she looks so upset and annoyed…

She also seems to have gotten a lot done. She got groceries, did a little shopping at Talbots. I see managing to get food and clothing shopping done in one day as a victory.

This sculpture, called Holding Out, was part of the Seward Johnson’s installation in the Garment District of NYC during the summer of 2015. I don’t know why, but this old lady was one of the sculptures I remember the most from that day I went to see them.

Fan Art Fridays: Adam Levine is Going to Be a Daddy

adam levine fan art

Omj, guys, Adam Levine and his wife Behati Prinsloo are expecting their first child!

I could not be happier for them. She’s already three to four months along, so we should be seeing a new little Levine in winter 2016.

Can you imagine how cute it would be if they have a boy and he looks exactly like Adam?! He’ll have his own little mini-me!

He’d probably have this same look on his face, as depicted in this fan art by kmesicart on Instagram. Ugh, I bet their baby, boy or girl, will be such a little cutie!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Jennifer Lopez in New York

JLo in NY sequin sweatpants

Jennifer Lopez stepped out in New York with a green smoothie in hand and some sassy sequined sweatpants, reminding us all that March is here and we need to go back to our regular workout in time for bikini season.

She went gray from head to toe with a gray pullover hoodie and Timberland boots, sporting an athleisure look.

This look can easily be done with sneakers instead of boots if you want to look stylish at the gym or during a run. Below are the Timberland boots she wore (marked with *) and some items similar to the original pieces.

Sweatshirt:

1. Active Faith, $45.00

2. RVCA, $35.20

Sweatpants:

3. Yoins, $23.95

February Favorites: Bernie Sandwiches, #ObamaAndKids & Lucy Church

feb 2016 faves

February 2016 brought lots of great comedy, music and TV episodes. I have a feeling this winter is going to end quite well.

I’m looking forward to all the March Madness (minus the basketball because I’m not into sports). I feel quite calm for the first time since this year started, so maybe the March lion won’t swallow me and just go out like a lamb?

Here are my favorites in pop culture for the month of February:

Favorite News Articles

1. I hope this reporter got a laugh out of this Bernie Sandwiches joke he created. Or else, Stephen Colbert is just “Reuben him the wrong way.”

2. #ObamaAndKids. Just the hashtag we needed to remind ourselves how much we’ll miss Obama when he’s gone.

3. Chrissy Teigen accidentally gave out her phone number in her new book. I thought people only put their address on dog collars…

4. Hayley Williams got married to Chad Gilbert! They’re wedding was so chill and cute ❤

Favorite Music

1. Toi Et Moi by Paradis. I swear, if they don’t come to NYC when this new album is released we’re going to have problems.

2. Too Late Now by Anik Khan. I’m not a fan of hip-hop or rap, so this is scaring me. Perhaps it’s the jazzy, samba vibe I’m getting from this?

3. Somebody Else by The 1975. They dug deep into the dark abyss for this song, and I love it.

4. Hide and Seek by Nude ft. JJ. This is probably the sexiest lounge house track I’ve ever heard.

Favorite Celeb Instagrams

1. Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran at the 2016 Grammys. These two pretty much won cute.

2. Emeraude Toubia in Regard Magazine. She’s freaking gorgeous and I love her in Shadowhunters.

3. Nathan Fillion and his kitty. OMJ kitty kisses.

4. Kickthepj in clown makeup. He looks like a nicer version of the Joker.

Favorite TV Episodes

1. Limitless, “Undercover!” Please tell me this is not the last time we’ll see Lucy Church! I love her femme-fatale sexiness, and I love her with Brian!

2. Lucifer, “Manly Whatnots.” I am so happy Tom Ellis uses his Welsh accent for this show. Rush fans, you need to watch this show!

3. Pretty Little Liars, “Where Somebody Waits for Me.” That Haleb flashback was hard to watch, but it was necessary for us to see in order to move on.

Favorite YouTube Videos

1. “Make Me Like You” music video. Gwen Stefani is back and falling over skates!

2. Rhett and Link try interesting popcorn toppings. I could not stop laughing when Rhett calls Link his baby and then Link says, “I’m not your baby, I’m your popcorn buddy.”

3. “Baby Boy” lyric video. Yuna + Lincoln Jesser is pure music making brilliance. Love the way this lyric video ends.

Happy March!

Gallery Mondays: ‘Elevate’ by Joyce Dallal

Elevate, Joyce Dallal

Since everyone is going on spring break, I decided to pull this gem by Joyce Dallal from my camera roll.

I saw this piece at LAX on the way back from Los Angeles in September 2015. Called Elevate, Joyce Dallal uses paper airplanes to symbolize the departures that occur at the airport on a daily basis.

What I love most about the installation is the way it’s positioned. The paper airplanes are spiraling upwards in unison, almost as if they intend to fly straight out the window.

Fan Art Fridays: Happy Belated Birthday, Justin Bieber

justin bieber fan art

When Justin Bieber’s birthday rolls around on March 1st, I’m reminded of how old I’m getting and how much time I have left to plan some sort of event for myself in May.

He celebrated his birthday a-la-Frozen in a stalactite cave with some of his buddies, posing for some Instagram shots along the way. He looks quite sad/annoyed in this pic though:

And then he went all “home video” style with a time stamp on this one:

I totally get it, man. We’re getting old.

Anyway, I found this lovely piece of fan art by jaysonframe on Instagram, featuring the Biebs with glassy light brown eyes. Justin Bieber’s hair disappears into this sketch, which is totally cool with me, because I’m actually getting kind of annoyed with the bleach blonde…

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Anaïs Gallagher @ the BRIT Awards 2016

Anaïs Gallagher, Brit Awards 2016

At this point y’all probably think I’m obsessed with Pantone 2016’s Serenity.

Well I kind of am. And Anaïs Gallagher’s ensemble at the BRIT Awards 2016 just fueled the obsession even more!

Daughter of Noel Gallagher and Meg Matthews, the UK fashionista rocked a ’70s look at the award show in a pale blue pant suit, black and white printed blouse and a pair of chunky, studded clog heels.

Can I get a hippie?!

This 16-year-old girl is definitely onto something.

My favorite part of the this outfit is the animalia printed blouse she chose to wear beneath the pale blue blazer, adding a bit of character to the outfit.

I’ve found a few similar pieces below, including a black and white cat printed blouse and an alternative in bird print for those of us with different animal tastes.

1. Matches Fashion, $850.00

2. AliExpress, $19.86
