A new season, a new Influenster VoxBox!

Before I left NYC for Austin this month, my Glam VoxBox from Influenster arrived at my house. Except, the mailman stuck it in between the two garbage pails on the patio instead of ringing the doorbell and handing it to me like he’s supposed to.

Sigh.

Anyway, this Glam VoxBox came with some awesome goodies for me to pamper myself with. I got a lovely Gillette Venus Swirl Razor, Olay Violet Swirl shaving gel, Q-tips cotton rounds, Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak dry shampoo, three Shea Moisture face products, and Cutex nail polish remover pads.

So let’s get reviewing!

1. Gillette Venus Swirl Razor. I’m totally hype about this razor! I’ve used disposable Venus razors before, so I’m really looking forward to my first shave of the spring season. The only con to this razor is the price of the cartridges. The cost about $20 for four replacement heads! I almost wish Influenster had sent me a pack of cartridges instead of shaving gel!

2. Olay Violet Swirl Shaving Gel. I’ve only ever used shaving cream, and lately Irish Spring soap because the thickness of the cream makes shaving my legs take twice as long. However, I did try the gel with a disposable razor on one patch of my leg and it did a pretty good job. See below for a picture of the gel’s consistency. I’m not jazzed about the hand soap smell, though.

3. Q-tips Cotton Rounds. As a child I used cotton rounds for things like removing makeup with astringent or nail polish. They’re way better than cotton balls so I’m happy.

4. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak. I’m very disappointed with this product. I’ve been wanting to try dry shampoo for so long and my excitement was wasted on Not Your Mother’s. It’s unscented, so my hair still smells like it hasn’t been washed for three days. My hair also still feels oily and itchy. Ugh.

5. Shea Moisture Face Products. I’ve heard amazing things about Shea Moisture’s hair products, so I had high expectations for these face packets. I got a facial wash & scrub, anti-aging moisturizer and an anti-aging facial mask. All three packets contain frankincense and myrth. Although I’m not particularly fond of those scents, the anti-aging mask goes on clear and isn’t strongly fragrant. My face has been breaking out like crazy, so maybe this will help it relax.

Can you tell that I’m wearing the Shea Moisture Anti-Aging Facial Mask? #NoMakeupSelfie

6. Cutex Nail Polish Remover Pads. I’ve been wearing nail strips again so I didn’t get to try these, but I’m sure they’re super convenient. I always make a mess when I accidentally knock over the bottle nail polish remover. Thank. You. Cutex.

By far, my favorites in this Glam Voxbox are the Gillette Venus Swirl Razor and the Shea Moisture face products. Off to pamper myself!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Reese Witherspoon on Easter Sunday

Reese Witherspoon on Easter Sunday 2016

Look no further for your chuch Sunday fashion inspiration, ladies—our Southern belle Reese Witherspoon’s got just the outfit to steal!

On Easter Sunday 2016, Reese wore one of her yellow jacquard dresses from Draper James. She paired it with a bright yellow and white handbag, chunky white sandals, and clear framed sunglasses.

What is not to love about that yellow dress?! I also really love the handbag. It manages to be vibrant without being blindingly bright, giving equal space for both the yellow and the white on the bag to work their magic.

The dress is sold out on Draper James 😦 but you can find the original sandals and bag (marked with *) below. I’ve also listed some alternatives.

Gallery Mondays: Oda & King’s “Facelift”

oda and king facelift

Since Friday is April Fool’s Day, I decided to provide you all with some humor for this week’s Gallery Mondays.

Back in the fall of 2015, I saw this piece by artist couple Oda & King in a group exhibit called Transfigure at Last Rite’s Gallery in NYC. I think it was the tape and this guy’s stained teeth that drew me in to this one.

The piece is called “Facelift.” I really do wonder what his face looks like without all that tape. He might actually be good looking enough to not even need a facelift…

Check out more of Oda & King’s work at www.odaking.com/gallery.

Fan Art Fridays: Superman

Happy Good Friday!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in theaters this wonderfully sunny day. As a result, Syfy is showing all of the Superman movies, which is totally cool with me.

Apparently the critics aren’t really loving Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . The negative reviews have been rolling in since Thursday afternoon.

Anyhow, I’ve decided to feature all three actors that have played Superman for this week’s Fan Art Fridays. Enjoy artist Sam Gilbey’s rendition of Christopher Reeves, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill as Superman!

Are you going to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this weekend? If you do, let me know what you think!

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Kylie Jenner at The Nice Guy Restaurant in L.A.

Kylie Jenner, Nice Guy Restaurant in L.A.ntation

Kylie Jenner looks more and more like Kim Kardashian everyday with those lips and those cheekbones!

The 18-year-old was spotted with a friend outside The Nice Guy in Los Angeles wearing a long sleeved silk camouflage number by Versace and suede ankle wrap pumps.

I think Kylie is really brave to go out in such a versatile piece that can double as a long jacket. She’s got great legs, and she’s definitely not afraid to show them off.

You can order the same dress/jacket and pumps for yourself online (marked below with *) and I’ve also listed alternatives should they sell out.

Dress/Jacket:

1. Luisa Via Roma, $2650.00 *

2. AliExpress, $47.00

Pumps:

3. Net-a-Porter, $735.00 *

4. Gilt, $69.00

Gallery Mondays: Franco’s Cafe

port authority bus terminal franco's cafe

This is what the streets of New York City will look like when the weather hits the upper 60s soon.

I saw this mural on the wall at Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC. I have no idea who created it or where Franco’s Cafe is.

I love the two women on the top left, one in a green dress and another in a pink one, caught mid-dance. They look so festive and cute!

There’s just so much going on in this mural that I can’t even think straight!

Fan Art Fridays: Tris Prior from the ‘Divergent’ Series

tris prior fan art

Allegiant, the last film of the Divergent series, is out in theaters today.

As with all book series that become films, this is another bittersweet end to a great trilogy. I cannot wait to see what’s next for Shailene Woodley, who plays the main character Tris Prior.

I got a Fandango gift card at the end of last year that I cannot wait to use when I go see the film next week. The only reason I’m waiting until next week is because I want to get a good seat in the theater once the rush dies down!

I picked this piece of fan art of Tris Prior by Kim Beurre Lait on Deviant Art for this week’s Fan Art Fridays because I’m so amazed at how much it really looks like Tris. If looks could paralyze, this piece of fan art would have done it.

View the original fan art here, and enjoy an Allegiant trailer below.

Wardrobe Wednesdays: Cheryl Cole in London

Cheryl Cole in London with Liam Payne

So now we’re in this phase of transitioning from winter to spring, which means the weather doesn’t really know what to do with itself. That also means our wardrobes have to keep up.

Cheryl Cole found an interesting solution while on a date with Liam Payne to Salmontini restaurant in London. She wore a black jumpsuit with a fur coat and chunky gold heels, mixing a warm cover-up with some spring wear.

I really love the way she draped the coat around her arms, making her look all relaxed and super stylish!

Below are the original jumpsuit and shoes (marked by *), as well as two similar fur coats and alternatives in case the originals sell out.

Jumpsuit:

1. Shopbop, $628.50 *

2. Lord and Taylor, $395.00

Coat:

3. Nasty Dress, $28.89

4. JCPenny, $39.99

Shoes:

5. Nordstrom, $795.00 *

6. ASOS, $51.00

Mini Vacay in Austin: SXSWedu, Texas Capitol & More

POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINK*
austin mini vacay

Last week, from March 7th-9th, I took a mini vacation to Austin, Texas with my mom!

March 8th was the main day of our trip, which was loads of fun since it was the day of the SXSWedu Expo, National Pancake Day and International Women’s Day.

This trip marked a few firsts for me, as it was the first time traveling to a central time zone and the first time I used an Airbnb. I also ended up using Lyft for the first time on this trip as well.

I stayed about 30 minutes from Downtown Austin at this Airbnb. I totally recommend it for the price and comfort. My host was very nice.

We started the day on March 8th with a trip on the Capitol Metro Rail.

It was so crowded that morning because of the SXSWedu Expo, which was taking place at the Austin Convention Center less than 100 feet away from Downtown Station.

It was pouring rain by the time my mom and I arrived in Downtown Austin. Since it was National Pancake Day, it would have been unwise to skip a free short stack from iHop, so we ran through the rain to get there.

Before going through the door at iHop, an elderly man dressed in a suit draped in party favor necklaces offered us what he called “iHop Beads.” I gladly took a gold one.

By the time we’d finished eating, the rain had let up, so we went over to the Austin Convention Center for the SXSWedu Expo. I think my favorite part was watching all those talented kids perform on the Next Stage!

At the Raindrop Turkish House booth, my mom and I were presented with roses for International Women’s Day. That was just too kind of them! We had to leave the roses at the Airbnb, though :/

IMAG4497

After we were done walking around at the expo, we went over to The Austin Contemporary to see Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia. It was a fascinating exhibit. I loved all of Mothersbaugh’s prints and the interactive exhibit upstairs as well.

I drew the one on the blue piece of paper!

This pair of glasses in the interactive exhibit confirmed Austin’s weirdness.

We could see the Texas Capitol from the street outside the museum, so we headed there in time for the 3pm tour.

Before leaving Austin on March 9th, I tried the famous breakfast taco and my mom tried a breakfast burrito from Fuzzy’s.

IMAG4608

I wasn’t really fond of it. I think it needed more flavor in the chorizos.

At the airport I bought this keychain to remember this short but fun adventure!
