This Week In Music: Ed Sheeran’s “Bloodstream”

bloodstream ed sheeran

Well, it seems like Mr. Sheeran’s bleeding chemicals these days.

Ed Sheeran has released three songs (“Bloodstream,” “Don’t” and “Afire Love”) from his upcoming album, x (Multiply), giving fans a taste of what to expect from his latest project.

“Bloodstream” begins with an acoustic guitar melody, accompanied by Sheeran’s deep humming that plays continuously after the chorus parts of the song.

The lyrics in the song are quite emotionally heavy. “This is how it ends, I feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream […] tell me when it kicks in,” he sings.

The chemical addictions lead to violence, as Sheeran sings, “Lord forgive me for the things I’ve done, I was never meant to hurt no one.”

Towards the end of the song, there is a beautiful round where Sheeran makes the listener feel intoxicated, head spinning as he sings over and over again,

All the voices in my mind
Calling out across the line
So tell me when it kicks in
I saw scars upon her
Tell me when it kicks in
Broken heart.

I’m not really a fan of this track in particular, but if he mixes songs like “Bloodstream” along with the album’s lead single, “Sing,” x will definitely be a hit.

Pre-order x on iTunes.

Lil’ Kim’s Newborn: New Addition to Crazy Celeb Baby Names

Monday morning at 9:58 a.m., Lil’ Kim and rapper Mr. Papers welcomed their first child.

The baby girl was born in New Jersey at Hackensack University Medical Center. She weighs 6 pounds and 5 ounces.

Her name?

Royal Reign.

I’m wondering if it’s going to be Royal Reign Papers or Royal Reign Jones.

The former makes it sound so much more ridiculous.

Celebrity babies are subjected to some crazy names. Here’s a list of Royal Reign’s outrageously named playmates:

Happy 51st Birthday, Johnny Depp!

Jhonny Depp et Marion Cotillard pour l'avant première de Public Enemies

I cannot believe that Johnny Depp is 51 today!

The actor has accomplished so much thus far, including getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and winning a Golden Globe for his performance in Sweeny Rodd.

Whenever I think of Johnny Depp, I remember the all of the crazy character transformations he’s gone through over the years. With each new film, I wonder how he made it out of the dressing room without having a heart attack after seeing himself in the mirror!

Thankfully, my all-time favorite film of his is Rum Diary, in which he appears as his normal self.

However, in honor of his birthday today, how about we take a trip down memory lane and marvel over the amazing masterpieces the makeup artists have created out of Johnny Depp?

1. Edward Scissorhands, 1990

Edward Scissorhands

In this Tim Burton film, Johnny Depp plays a man with scissors for hands. He becomes the town hairdresser. It makes no sense to me how he could have such unruly hair with that profession.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean Series, 2003, 2006, 2007,  & 2011

Johnny Depp plays Captian Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, one of his most famous roles. I think he was born to be a pirate.

3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2005

Willy Wonka
I honestly wouldn’t have known that Willy Wonka was played by Johnny Depp in this film if he wasn’t credited as a lead actor. They cover every trace of Native American on this man’s face with white powder. And what is up with this haircut?!

4. Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, 2007

Tim Burton must have really wanted Johnny Depp to be a hairdresser in another life. Here he plays an evil barber whose real name is Benjamin Barker. Definitely loving the white streak.

5. Alice in Wonderland, 2010

Mad Hatter

How much money do you have to pay a man to let you do this to his face? They went all out for Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter lookgreen eyes and all.

I can’t wait to see what the makeup artists have in store for Mr. Depp next.

Happy 51st birthday, Johnny!

Episode Review: ‘Orange Is the New Black’ Season 2 “Thirsty Bird”

SPOILER ALERT: PLEASE WATCH THE EPISODE ON NETFLIX BEFORE READING.

Don’t be alarmed if your friends aren’t answering any of your texts, Facebook messages or emails this weekend. They’re probably just glued to their Netflix in celebration of the release of Orange is the New Black season 2.

If you’ve had the great pleasure of seeing the season 2 trailer, you’ll notice that Piper’s gone a bit wacko.

Like, big time.

However, that’s not the Piper you’ll see in the first episode of season 2, “Thirsty Bird.”

In fact, Piper is stressed beyond the brink in this episodepanic, tears, and all.

The episode is named after a big, bright-yellow food blob/stain on the wall in Piper’s cell, where it is assumed she was sent directly after the Pennsatucky incident.

“This is art,” Piper says about the blob/stain after the officer suggests she lick it off the wall for breakfast.

"Thirsty Bird"

‘Thirsty Bird’

“This is a yellow warbler drinking out of a daffodil,” she continues. “She just cannot get enough. I’m calling it ‘Thirsty Bird’.”

For viewers, the lingering question during this episode is probably, “Is Pennsatucky dead?”

For Piper, it’s “Do you know where we’re going?”

Literally, by the end of “Thirsty Bird,” Piper is more than ten hours away from Litchfield.

Prison torture at its finest.

The episode also includes cockroaches, an introduction to young Piper, and, wait for it…

MALE INMATES.

young piper

I think the scene on the plane will go down in history as the one of the show’s roughest emotional roller coasters.

Your hatred for Alex Vause will reach an all-time high in the final scene. Just a warning.

Watch the entirety of Orange is the New Black season 2 on Netflix!

Meet Vitalii Sediuk: Celebrity Prankster

Vitalii SediukWill Brad Pitt be the end of this?

At the red carpet premiere of Maleficent last Wednesday, the news managed to focus on someone other than just the cast and crew of the film.

Vitalii Sediuk, Ukranian journalist and well known celebrity prankster, managed to get passed red carpet security to attack Brad Pitt, breaking the actor’s glasses in the process.

Who in their right mind punches Brad Pitt in the face at a red carpet event?

Vitalii Sediuk does.

According to Hollywood.com, two days after the incident, Sediuk was issued “20 days of community service, 36 months of probation and ordered to pay $220 (£138) in fines.” He is also banned from all future Hollywood events.

As if Brangelina would just sit back and let this sort of shenanigans continue.

Sediuk has racked up a lengthy list of celebrity prank incidents over the past three years:

2011
Madonna, 2011 Venice Film Festival – Sediuk gave Madonna a bouquet of hydrangeas. She despises hydrangeas.

2012
Will Smith, Men in Black 3 premiere in Moscow – Sediuk kissed Will Smith. In return, Will Smith slapped him and shouted, “What the hell is wrong with you?!”

2013
Adele, 2013 Grammy’s – Sediuk rushed onto the stage for a brief moment to murmur into the microphone when Adele received her award for Best Solo Performance. No one really noticed it on television because it happened so quickly.

*ATTEMPT* Sediuk tried to enter the 85th Academy Award Show wearing drag! What?! Why. Thankfully, security sent him right back home.

2014
Bradley Cooper, 20th SAG Awards – Sediuk latched onto Bradley Cooper’s legs. According to USA Today, he tried “his best to smile through the incident as he pulled [Sediuk] off of his legs.”

Leonardo DiCaprio, Santa Barbara International Film Festival – Sediuk rubbed his face in Leo’s groin. Seriously?

New York Fashion Week ’14 – Sediuk streaked the Prabal Gurung Runway show.

America Ferrera, Cannes Film Festival – Sediuk crawled underneath America Ferrera’s dress while she posed for the paparazzi at the premiere of How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Mario Lopez got the opportunity to interview the prankster on Extra Tuesday. Lopez asked him the million dollar question: “What is wrong with you?”

His response?

“I don’t think [there’s] something wrong with me. I am a different guy who thinks differently and has this entertainment spirit that probably people in Hollywood never experienced before. It’s something different, controversial, extraordinary and it’s hard to explain. I’m normal, at least I believe so.”

If he thinks he’s normal, then I don’t even want to know what he considers abnormal.

He also apologized, saying,

“I apologize for inconveniences that I created to many celebrities dealing [with] my style of entertainment… I feel sorry that I created inconveniences for Brangelina family because I knew there were no kids around, but they were [at] the premiere, and I kind of stole the spotlight from such an important moment.”

Let’s see if he’ll make it through this three year probation.
